OMG. I had the best fish tacos ever at this place. I was hesitant to eat there but I am so glad we did. Don't get me wrong my hesitancy wasn't because of the presentation. It's very clean and you have an amazing view. I just wanted more "authentic cuisine". But I enjoyed everything about my meal here including the drinks. Affordable prices and great portions. Our server was a no nonsense older woman who was pretty awesome. I fell in love with Vieques during this trip and I will go to Duffys every time I visit the island. Oh! The 5 stars is in the context of Malecón pubs. The newish owner's have really upped their game. We had a party of 7 which Tamara, our awesome server, handled like a pro. Cocktails were great, including the pina colada served in a hollowed out pineapple. The mahi-mahi three of us ordered was grilled perfectly, cooked through but still moist. They use fresh greens for their salads, sorting them locally when they can. As a testimony to their standards, one lunch (we visited 3 times) they weren't serving salads because high quality greens weren't available. Atmosphere is casual and fun. read more

The best food I have eaten on the island, I went there twice in three days:-). The burgers and sandwiches are amazing. The salads are on the pricer side but if you are not too hungry a great and tasty option (the mahi mahi option was amazing!). This is a great place to hang out after checking out the beaches in Vieques. It's the kind of place you could spend part of the day it if you were so inclined :-) Friendly staff, open air bar, and a great view if you sit in the front. Parking was easy enough on a lazy mid afternoon. I could imagine it could be a little more challenging during a rush hour. Lots of beers available - so you won't be bummed out for lack of selection. The food - well we weren't to excited with it. It wasn't bad, just not very exciting. We had the fish and chips & a local dish - forgot the name, pork wrapped in banana leaves. The fish and chips were very very average at best and the other dish was bland as well Maybe try the burger next time. No big regrets and we'll be back the next time we are here. read more

We had two of the specials here: the seafood with rice and the steak. The rice was delicious cooked with coconut milk and soy sauce, but the fish on the plate was small. The steak was OK. Their cocktails are cheap (5-7 bucks) and they have a big beer selection. We liked the lemon coconut rum cocktail. read more

This was of my favorite restaurants in Vieques, not only because the food was good but because of the Eco-friendly philosophy. Out of the 5 restaurants we tried in the island, they were the only ones who had an Eco-friendly alternative for plastic straws: Hay straws. They also had reusable plastic cups and paper one for takeout. Other restaurants had "compostable" cups, but as far as we saw, they don't compost it, they just put it in the trash can, which ultimately goes to the landfill. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by Duffy's. We had the fish tacos with Habanero sauce. $10 Tacos were bland, habanero sauce was tasty. Also had the gazpacho. $8 Very vinegary, but good. WHERE DUFFY'S SHINES: The beer list. Best one we saw on the island. Someone really took the time to pick a delicious assortment of 30+ beers (not just Medalla and Coors): Bell's, North Coast Brewing, Anchor Steam, etc. Also, they have delicious chocolate cake. read more

We ate here four times, purely out of necessity (for some reason it was often the only place open on the strip). We've had fish tacos, crab cakes, burgers, and the three dips and chips. Service is ok. The burgers tasted great but the last time we had them they did not agree with my boyfriend's stomach and led to a rather unpleasant last night in Vieques. I was once served a glass bottle of ginger ale with the seal broken. It was apparently the last bottle in the entire establishment so I drank it at my own risk. Nothing happened fortunately, but they may want to make sure drinks are properly sealed before serving them. They get two stars for delicious waffle fries and a nice view of the water. read more

Had lunch there after a morning on the beach. Amazing and reasonable beer selection. I had the fish taco's and, despite the fact that they looked like Gorton's fish sticks, they were tasty. The lunch crowd was busy but we didn't wait all that long for our food. On the down side the nachos were greasy and gave all of us heart burn. read more

Worse experience ever had in Vieques, the fish I ordered is very oily and the well-done burger we ordered is burned, when we tried to complain, we were told that it was supposed to be like that. The pineapple juice that we ordered was being served in the very fancy glass, however it was very watery and it was four dollars, which is totally not worth it at all. Not recommend. read more

This restaurant is located on the waterfront in Esperanza alongside a whole line of restaurants (Side note: Just come to this area for lunch and dinner, so many restaurants to choose from!) Typical, reliable average bar food--I'd go back (especially given that you have very few good options on the island)! In line with the rest of the island, service is a little slow so readjust your expectations. Early evening you'll find lots of visitors and a handful of locals; later on they have music and dancing but it seems to mostly be locals. It has a nice vibe with nice people, including the staff. We loved it but were disappointed during our second visit. The restaurant is self seating so we sat at 1 of the large tables that was available then (2 of us at a 6 seater). Towards the end of our meal our waitress asked if we were almost done--I still had my plate and my husband (who'd just finished his) had a 1/2 full glass of beer. She explained that the owner/manager had asked her to bring our check as they had a party of 6 that was waiting for the table! She apologized for having to do so and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar instead. Well, that surely killed the mood and desire to go back. We told her we wanted to finish our meal and took our time doing so. Our server was really apologetic, mentioned that it wasn't her choice or preference to do so, and didn't push us to leave after that. At that point of our vacation, I'd already lowered my bar (by far) for service expectations on the Vieques ... so I wasn't completely put off. read more

worst customer service I saw in PR. I went in there before dinner time, ordered a sprite, got it, sipped a lil bit, then went to the bathroom to wash my hands, come back, sprite is gone, bus boy took it. no big deal, ask for another one, the waitress was so rude putting it back ( as if I am asking here to help me move a couch), ordered appetizer, crab cakes ( tasted as if fried in brake oil), waitress took off the dish, looked at the table which was a bit dirty, then looked at me, and then walked away, not even thinking of cleaning it. Main dish came black tuna on quinoa salad , that was a good combination and tasty I must say, but again the waitress put down the dishes and looked at the dirty table, looked at me and asked if I wanted anything, at which I had to say " Yes I would like to have a clean table). Customer service is very bad here, you're better off going to some native cafes if you can manage some spanish. Everywhere else in PR people have been nice I should say. read more

The view is lovely (but it's lovely anywhere on the strip). The first time we went there the service was okay. Great option for lunch and dinner in Esperanza. Our group of 4 returned several times in our stay - we tried all of the other restaurants in the area as well, but Duffys kept winning out for quality, price, and atmosphere. Food was good - nothing spectacular, but solid beachfront staples and good specials, and prices were as good or better than everywhere else. Fish tacos, spicy shrimp wrap, and Fat Boy fries were our favorites, but we enjoyed pretty much everything we tried. Fantastic beer selection, better than many bars in major US cities, and mixed drinks were tasty and well made. Staff was friendly and efficient, even when the whole place was full. My girlfriend and I went here for lunch. We ordered the gyro, chicken special, and two piña coladas. The drinks were very good; however, the food did not match the quality of the drinks! It was not very good to say the least! The chicken special was in a very small portion as well. The service was mediocre and the prices were fair in comparison to other restaurants in vieques. Nice atmosphere for sure. The service was pretty good. The Mahi-Mahi special was tasty, but the size of the fillet was comically small. The curried yucca and veggies on the side were good. But after a day of swimming I felt like I'd just paid $25 for a dish that was more of a snack. My wife had the Mahi Sandwich, which had a much fishier taste than my "fresh" fillet. Four of us ate there the other night, all hungrey from traveling and a busy day. The food was really pretty poor overall. There was plenty of it is the one positive bit I can leave. Service started out okay and deteriorated as we waited to get water and order. The grilled, fresh fish, a specialty supposedly, was dry and tough. A plate of nachos for the table was smothered with a creamy cheese spread and not many vegetables, except hot peppers. The salad greens would have been better braised and served with the fish, rather than trying to use them fresh. Too many other good choices right next door to even think about going here again. read more
