I hired them to do an investigation of my basement and they did an alright job.... I told them that the outlets were overheating and hot to the touch. They changed some of the outlets for $900 and also looked at the lighting fixtures to see if they were faulty. I had a partial power outage and called Duffy Electric because they had good reviews. I told them it was an emergency, since the power outage left me without heat and also my refrigerators were not working. They came and told me it was a problem with ConEdison and to call them. I had the foresight to ask them to call and open a claim at least. If I had not done that, it would have been over $400 for literally nothing. On the phone I agreed to this charge as an emergency visit, and I said only if you fix something. They fixed nothing and did absolutely nothing to help, except to call Con Ed. Con Ed came and said that they could have bridged the power for me. This company are scam artists charging $400 for literally coming and looking at a problem and not fixing at all. No honest company or person would do this. read more

Over an hour later, at 5:40pm Duffy Electric calls to tell us they're running late, and will be here soon because they were in the area.......... We never heard back from them. Our house recently had an issue where our lights in the house were flickering at various times of the day. We contacted Duffy Electric and they sent an electrician the next business day. After a quick review and 1 adjustment in a light switch the electrician presumed the issue was hopefully fixed. Was billed and paid $190 for the 30 minutes the electrician was there. That night the flickering came back and was even worse than before. Called Duffy Electric again and told them the problem was not resolved so they sent the same electrician back. After a quick review he determined we would need to upgrade the amps of the house from 150 to 200. They promptly sent an estimate of over $5k for the job. Over the next 2 days the flickering was so bad we did not use certain appliances as it seemed to increase the flickering severity (washer/dryer, microwave). I called another electrician and after they reviewed rather thoroughly (ie removed panels, scrutinized wiring etc) they said there was probably a defect somewhere with the wiring or panel and that we did not need to upgrade the amps. Also he actually tightened something on the outside which dramatically reduced the flickering. Was not charged for the visit and they provided an estimate for upgrading the panel. I went with them (instead of the Duffy upgrade of the amps) and they did the job promptly and the flickering is no longer an issue. Duffy Electrics seems to be a good company as their follow ups were prompt and overall very professional however I think in this situation a more experienced electrician from the beginning would have saved time and headaches for everyone. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company I needed some thermostats changed and was quoted an obsene amount of money for such a simple job. In the end they came 3x and everytime something went wrong and it was "not their fault" I spent over 1000$ not including the thermostats to change simple thermostats !! I would never recommend these people only reason get 1 extra star was because their workers were very nice and courteous. I ended up calling a different company and paid much less for a better job please look elsewhere at least for thermostat changes read more

I had just come home from having major surgery and my home was freezing - needed a new thermostat. They came over, and were very personable. That's why they get the star. They did charge a lot of money to hook up the thermostat. They had to come twice - they charged me $325.88 on 11/10/21 and it didn't work and when they came back the next day, they charged me $190.01 ($515.89 if you're keeping track) but Just as they thought it was hooked up and working properly, the hot water heater caused a noise from the basement that they assumed was the thermostat. They hightailed it out of there and left me in a freezing cold home. Slomin's saved me. They sent out their electrician the next day and I've had a warm home ever since. read more

Highly recommend. Very professional, quality work. We needed to increase our amp connection to the house. Despite the horrible cold weather and rain they diligently worked up on the roof for hours to get the job done. And inside corrected wiring for a light switch as well as updated a couple light fixtures. Duffy Electric sends out text to confirm appointments, update arrival status, and job details. Promptly emails copy of estimate, invoice and receipt. I found Duffy on Home Advisor and they quickly followed up other my initial inquiry. Very thankful for their service. Extremely highly recommended. I had 2 ceiling fans installed in my old, pre-war apartment. Wiring needed to be replaced, the works. Never once did I feel nervous about the job, and everything turned out beautifully! I even feel safer in my home now knowing this was done properly. Side note, my mom on Long Island also used them for a small job installing a light in her pantry, and they did a great job there too. They're also extremely punctual- you can set your clock by them! If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I scheduled an appointment between the hours of 10-12. At 10:45 I receive a phone call stating that a technician would be able to take a look at the problem and tell me what's wrong with it , but wouldn't be able to fix it until a later date. I told them that I took the day off of work because they told me they can fix my issue and 45 minutes into the time that they were scheduled to come, they tell me that they can't fix it that day. The person that called was extremely rude. I told her that this was unprofessional and that she was being rude and she hung up on me. I used Duffy last year to install a door camera. It took the two guys over 5 hours to figure the installation. I initially thought it was excessive and that they were confused. But then I realized that my house electric configuration when I bought my house was so complexed. It's a year later and the door camera works like a charm. I called them again to replace 10 dimmers and two fan switches. The price was competitive. You pay for what you get. The two guys finished the job in 4 hours. They took there time but of course had an issue with my complex wiring system, so it took longer than I would of liked. They were courteous and clean. I would give them 5 stars but when they finished I realized they overlooked and didn't not finish what we agreed upon. I guess they got confused bylaw the dimmers and switched that had to be changed. They should of done a complete walk through with me. Also when they left, I realized that some of my multiple switches that turn a light dud not work unless the other switch is left on the open position. I guess I can not blame them. But they should if realized it and notified me. Bottom line is, they dud a good job. But you better look over the work to make sure they completed what you wanted. I really appreciate the communication that Brian and his crew offered me as a customer. Brian called me back within a half hour to schedule my job. I got both a text and an email confirming my appointment. The techs, Armando and Ben called to let me know they were on their way. They quickly diagnosed the problem I had with a outside circuit breaker And showed me the correct way to reset it, which I wasn't aware of. Spoke to owner Brian who was supposed to show up by 6pm on a Friday. He was a no call/no show. I then received a text the following morning apologizing and asking me if i could do it on saturday, the day after. I said that i was only home for another hour, and if they could come before, i would be able to meet with them. I then get a text scheduling it out several hours later that day. Their guy Vincent reaches out to me and schedules a time later in the day when I will be home. He comes by, seems nice, gives me a quote and books a time with me for sunday morning. I go out and buy the supplies and have everything ready for Sunday morning. I get a call from Vincent, who says he forgot which day it was, and wanted to know if he could come later on Sunday, around 5pm, or Monday or Tuesday. I accommodated and said 5pm on Sunday would be fine. Once again, no call, no show. If you read this, and still book an appt., and no one calls or shows when your appointment time arrives, you have no one to blame but yourself. read more

I was very satisfied with the work I had done. The damage to my electrical socket was caused during alarm installation. Duffy came repaired it and issued me a receipt that stated that the problem was caused during alarm installation. With that receipt I was able to get the total amount refunded. The two workers were knowledgeable and thoughtfully addressed the problem. They did the job and cleaned up the area. I was very pleased and would definitely use them again.
