Hi, I turned 76 overnight last weekend and asked my sister if she would go play BINGO with me. She…read morekinda looked at my funny, but I think she thought about it for a minute and realized that Bingo is awesome and everyone should play at least once in a while. She got on her handy iPhone and found S. Elgin's Lions Club. Bingo on Saturday nights. 2 (6 board) cards for $11 with some bonus game options for a buck a piece. It was a blast. They have a full service bar, snacks, and food. They even have Pull Tabs!!! If you have been to Michigan (and I'm sure other states, too), you will know what I'm referring to. It's a great time for little moolah if you can control yourself and I cant wait to go back. But be careful....you should not yell "Bingo!" unless you are absolutely certain you have it.... ...I did this and it was incredibly embarrassing. :/ Also, they are very quiet here while the game is going. This is not a social event by any means.

I visit the South Elgin Lions Club from time to time with my sister. I toss on a babushka to keep my hairdo in place until my weekly trip to the parlor (just kidding, btw), grab some bottled water, snacks, my bingo dabbers and cash then I'm on my way. Doors open at like 5pm on Saturday - actually it might even be a little earlier, but the Lions have a Facebook page, so you may want to double check there. I've only been that early once and we got prime seating, but boy were the regulars mad at us. So I try to get in by 5:30 and get average seating upstairs. They have two bars - one upstairs and one downstairs. They have plenty of drink options and lots of sweet treats available for purchase. They sell some savory bites as well, but I haven't tried those. It's a lot of packaged bakery items to raise funds for the club which is fine by me. The mint chocolate pie last time was a nice choice. Anyhow, we usually pick our table. Lay claim to our seats and then go buy our bingo cards, raffles and computers. You can have a pretty fun evening on just a small amount of money. $20 could easily be sufficient, but I usually end up in the $40 range. It's still reasonable considering we are there until almost 10pm and don't go that often. They also have half price bingo once a month which is extra crowded, but totally worth it! The early bird starts at 6:45pm. Don't worry - a regular will explain it all to you. The first official game is at 7pm. This is officially not the time to chat. You don't want to miss a number on one of your boards or you could risk throwing the whole thing out the window. Also, please don't call, text or Facebook me when I'm at bingo. Service can be spotty and I need to focus. Don't forget, I'm trying to win big money here. It can be a lot of fun especially if you win. Grab your lady friends (or a strapping young lad) and head over for the evening. Maybe I'll see you there!

We have become a part of Elite's Academy of Dance family last year. My daughter loves to dance and…read morewe found this new program to better fit her needs. I have seen the studio perform at a Dance Competition and was impressed with the quality of dance, the choreography, music and costume choices. What impressed me the most, however, was the team's camaraderie. These kids are so supportive of each other that I wished for my daughter to experience something this awesome. They looked so "happy" to be there and doing what they love. The studio has many dancers and parents so it's definitely not possible to know everyone but there is a special inclusiveness that I feel. The staff is phenomenal. The studio Director, Jennie Newman-Scheiwe is an amazing leader that I can't praise enough. What impressed me about her professionalism is how extremely organized she is and how she provides the parents patiently with detailed information about everything and always seems to go the extra mile. Her students are thought to be kind and welcoming towards new dancers and because there are so many kids, it seems like friendships form easily. There is room for any dancer, of any level and commitment. It was a tough choice for my daughter to switch studios and she did not transition easily. It was hard for me as well to watch her struggle and to put herself in this new environment. It was a big challenge for her, but Elite's studio culture and welcoming attitude of the staff, teachers and dancers made it so much easier each time she stepped inside. I consider us still being new to the studio but I am impressed so far and can't wait to find out what the future brings. When people ask me, "how is Elite?" I say "it's truly great", but you would need to see it for yourself to believe it, because it's not something one can explain. Change is good sometimes. I highly recommend Elite Academy of Dance as the best studio around!

I would avoid Scott at all costs…read more Unprofessional does not quite sum this up. Scott was referred to me as someone who could work on my EM pinball. While it seemed that the fix was good, the next day the game would not turn on. When I called him to come back, he has since ghosted me. He scratched my stairs with his crude dolly, he put my 54 year old game on its corner, on pavement, and to pivot it, he said to a pinball restorer: "I should have charged him more once I saw his house", he ruined a piece of invisiglass, which he refuses to pay for or replace on top of being pretty undependable.

Scott was quick to call me back and schedule a visit to my house. He worked diligently and got the game working. There happened to be a glitch with one of the flippers so a couple of days later he was back and this time he decided to take two computer boards home and get them perfected. He said it would probably be a couple of weeks and he came back, everything was going great! I did ask him ask him back one more time, probably more for "user"questions, but he also changed a couple of lightbulbs at the same time. one thing I'll say, when he opens that machine he is so into his job of fixing any problem. He never rushed through the job. He's very personable and nice. I'm so very happy to have discovered him and his business. I highly recommend Scott for all the work he does. Thank you, Scott. Jan T
