Everyone was so helpful at WCC especially the chef who came to my rescue & got lipstick out of my dress that accidentally got on there while I was getting ready. The food was great & our guests also had complimentary things to say about the food during cocktail hour & dinner. We choose to have a themed wedding, Chicago Blackhawk's, & WCC along with our baker, florist & DJ made it happen. Our cake was cut perfectly by the kitchen staff which wasn't an easy feat considering it was a 3.5' tall replica of the Stanley Cup. WCC accommodated us the evening before for a quick dry run rehearsal outside next to the 9th green where I ceremony was planned for. The golf pro, Allen, was even onsite to assist the day of our wedding. While our guests were enjoying cocktail hour with an open bar & appetizers Allen drove our photographer around in a golf cart while the rest of the family & wedding party were in separate carts going to various spots on the course to take pictures. Food- Chef Mike does a terrific job of keeping the menu fresh. In addition, the special events and buffets are spectacular. I enjoy bringing friends and clients to dine at the club and they are always complementary. The menu stands up well against any restaurant in the area. Facility- A terrific facility, especially for families. A pool, private beach, and tennis courts are available to all members and activities are planned almost all year-round. Outdoor dining is available during the summer and the view, with the sunset, is terrific. Staff- Bill and the staff are terrifically accommodating. No request is too small or large. Again, I'd put the service level on par with the best restaurants in the region. Golf Course- Lets start with the course; I believe it is the best course in Barrington. It rewards good shot-making and penalizes poor shot making- what else can you ask from a course? The addition of Family tees means everyone from the A-Player to beginners will find the course enjoyable. Brian and the grounds team keep the course in terrific shape, despite the harsh Chicago weather. Most of my guests tell me it is the best maintained course in the area. Golf Staff- Doug, Matt, and the entire team are real Pro's in every sense of the word. From the well merchandised Pro-Shop, to the Club golfing events, to lessons, they make golfers of every skill level feel comfortable, In addition, the locker room staff are the best I have ever been exposed to...in any club. Members- The Club focuses on a family-friendly environment. As such, there are younger members constantly joining the club to go along with those of us that have been here a while. It's a great blend of new-blood and tradition. Atmosphere- Lets call it Country Club Casual- No you can't wear cut-offs and flip flops in the dining room and men can't wear tank-tops on the golf course. Get over it! Absolutely Terrible!…read more My sister had her wedding reception at Royal Fox in June of 2012. We had high hopes, especially after the tasting and working with Jane. We were extremely disappointed. Here's a rundown of the major problems: 1. They served the wrong main entree - Yep, you read that correctly, they served the wrong food! When we brought it to their attention they told us "the wedding last week didn't want the breaded chicken, so we didn't think you would either." Ummm, what the heck does a wedding a week ago have to do with what my sister ordered? 2. They didn't have champagne at the bar, even though my sister paid extra specifically for it. When we asked the manager on duty where the champagne was we were told that we were lying about paying for it (we weren't and the contract proved that). 3. The room was WAY TOO HOT! Several guests complained about the temperature. When we brought this up, they told us it was because we had too many people in the room; however, we had at least 70 fewer people than their stated maximum. They also brought us to other sections of the club and said "see, the temperature is fine here." Again, what does that have to do with anything? The reception room was hot and they did nothing to resolve the issue at all. Overall, what was going badly was made much worse by the horrible attitude of the staff. They never once apologized and instead were defensive and made excuses for everything. I would never recommend this venue to anyone. As of today, they have not done anything in the way of an apology or compensation for the issues we experienced. The reception could have been great, but instead was frustrating, uncomfortable, and frankly, a little embarrassing. Never again. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Part 2 Looked at…read moreher. Looked back at the lemon. Then continued walking. This was not the first citrus incident of the evening. A man near the entrance had begun telling strangers he used to know somebody who played for the Bears. The story changed every few minutes. First it was a linebacker. Then it was a cousin of a linebacker. Eventually, I believe the connection was that both men had once purchased tires at the same dealership in Elk Grove Village. No one challenged him. Why would they? There are social contracts in places like Chandler's. You let a man have his Bears story. He lets you have yours. At another table, two couples were splitting a bottle of wine and quietly conducting what appeared to be a competition over whose children had become more financially successful. One woman deployed "Northwestern." The other countered with "consulting." Then came "private equity." The air changed. Somewhere, an invisible referee rang a bell. Private equity won. The defeated couple immediately ordered another bottle. This is how dynasties end. Jenny returned with more iced tea. By this point I began to wonder whether she noticed the room was sliding toward madness. She moved among the tables like a Red Cross worker in a battlefield, Lulu Lemon pants in tow. Another cocktail for Gary, despite overwhelming evidence that Gary reached his natural limit forty minutes prior. Gary was now explaining putter technology to someone who worked there pantomiming a pendulum stroke using his butter knife. Nobody in the room needed dessert. Several people appeared already to be carrying enough saturated fat to survive the winter without shelter. And yet people ordered it. Because this is America. One table ordered a massive chocolate dessert and then immediately began complaining about how large it was, "Jesus, look at this thing." Then they ate every bite, of course. By now, something resembling a cocktail convention was forming near the bar. A man in loafers was telling a story about Lake Geneva, a pontoon boat, and slightly exaggerated marital infidelity while another man nodded far too enthusiastically. I returned to the chopped steak. I began to appreciate its honesty. Everything around it was pageantry: The clothes. The cars outside. The old, rich drunks. The endless talk of golf memberships, renovations, vacations, refinancing, college admissions, second mortgages, taxes, and people named Dave. But the chopped steak? The chopped steak had nothing to prove. It was beef. It had been chopped. It was steak. Case closed. Chandler's is a place where a person can still order a ten-dollar burger, drink iced tea, and overhear Gary reveal his entire net worth while explaining the difference between a Roth and a traditional IRA. By the time we left, the night had hardened into full suburban darkness, the parking lot ablaze under yellow lamps that make every SUV look vaguely criminal. People emerged from Chandler's in small groups, heavier than when they entered. Some walked steadily. Most did not. One man stood beside an Audi for a long time staring at his phone as if the vehicle had betrayed him personally. A woman nearby was saying: "I TOLD YOU I GAVE YOU THE KEYS." He had the keys. They were in his hand. This seemed like an appropriate conclusion. Inside, Jenny was probably still pouring iced tea. Gary was probably still alive. Dave remained unexplained. And the ten-dollar hamburger continued existing in defiance of economic reason. Five stars. Not because Chandler's is glamorous. Not because it is innovative. And certainly not because anyone needs another lecture about steak. Five stars because it feels like a surviving fragment of an older America where the beef was plentiful, the prices were tolerable, the tea came in large glasses, and drunk men could still publicly destroy their dignity one golf story at a time.

There were some soaked parts of the fairways but as expected. The greens were good and taken care of. The fairways are wide open in my opinion. There are a couple holes where you need to clear some water. The golf club folks that took our payments were nice and the starter was pretty cool. We played the front 9 twice and the 2nd one we arrived a little early but the 4 some was a dragging so they let us go ahead of them. We will be back as it is one of my favorites. But pretty pricey, $108 with cart - I hope it was just 4th of July pricing.

Tees have nice distance choices to fit your skill level. Interesting holes with water carry on a couple. Just ask my buddy who hit a few in the water.... on the same hole. :-) Our kids loved the pool area. Zero depth pool. Costs about $100 per round with cart on weekends for a guest. No caddy required. Driving range is standard. Restaurant has a great menu including a kids menu. Kids menu is inexpensive. Normal menu is typical price for country club. Bar has a nice elevated view of the course.

We originally worked with Lisa, who was great, but when she was promoted, we were handed over to Megan, and things quickly went downhill. Megan was unprofessional, often agreeing to things in person only to change them over email, and she completely overturned agreements we had already solidified with Lisa. For example, our originally agreed-upon midnight end time was changed, and despite reaching a verbal compromise with Megan to play our last song at 11:45 PM, she stopped our wedding early at 11:30 PM anyway. On the day of the wedding, a guest actually found a small frog in her salad, and instead of taking responsibility, Megan was entirely dismissive. We also dealt with billing miscommunications that cost us over $1,000 for a tasting, though I will give the venue credit for eventually issuing a $500 credit to partially make up for it. To any couples looking to book this venue, be prepared to deal with a lot of worry and make sure you get everything in writing. Despite all of these major issues, we refused to let outside people ruin our experience and still had a great wedding, which is a reminder that regardless of where you do it, you should always just focus on enjoying the moment.
