Looked like it had to have been boiled, as there was no beef color or bark at all; a little dry - rendered, but overall not something I've ever experienced with brisket, before. Also needed salt. It was only okay at best. I do want so much better for this small-town man, as he seems a good dude. Would not be difficult to make massive improvements, but this guy is probably ready to retire. I googled this place and the reviews were fantastic, so naturally I knew I had to give it a try. I was immediately impressed with the service, the owner was so friendly and inviting, he made suggestions on some stand out items, I ended up making up my own combo plate. I ordered brisket, bbq chicken, mac & cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. I have to say it was some of the best bbq I've ever had up here. I live in Manchester, which is 1 hr 36 mins from their location, I can say without a doubt that I will make the trip back to Backwoods bbq!! Very friendly and attentive. Food is outstanding. Last time we were there they had live music which was really good. Management there appears to be very involved with all of the processes and professional. I have read some of the reviews and find some of those not spot on. When reading the reviews of any restaurants in a vacation area always keep in mind the area of the country its in and the fact that most, not all vacationers come across as entitled and can be very rude. I only know this because we live in two areas of the country where there is a very large and strong vacation season. Take it from a local here and def put the Alamo on your list of places to eat. Great patios and roof top dining as well which overlooks the entrance to Paugus Bay Bridge and the Weirs beach/Weirs avenue area.

Our…read moreserver was very nice and did a good job taking care of us, however the entire place seems a bit understaffed and they seemed overwhelmed even with the restaurant being less than half full. Our drinks took a very long time to arrive, and the appetizers took even longer. I thought the drinks were very good and were a good size, and the honey cornbread was yummy. The tater tots were pretty good too, but I wouldn't say the portion size lived up to the $18 price tag. If you look at the menu online, it is a much larger serving, so be warned! Overall, I don't know if I would come back. We were lucky to not be in a rush, but if we didn't have so much time before the convert, the wait alone would've stressed us out, not to mention the expensive tater tots.

Originally, we ventured over to Full Belli deli in Wolfboro, which has some of the most incredible cheesesteaks I've ever tasted, but they were overwhelmed with orders and the minimum weight for a takeout sandwich was an hour and a half. We didn't have that much time to wait. Boy, do I regret not waiting... When we entered Hucks, the absolute empty restaurant should've been a massive red flag. But we were so engulfed in serious conversation, we didn't even realize it. We waited for about 20 minutes for our sandwiches to be made which were about $18 apiece for a "special steak" cheesesteak that boasted caramelized onions, fried peppers, and mushrooms with provolone, cheddar and American cheese. Sounds amazing, doesn't it? Oh contrar. It was pretty terrible. The onions were pretty much nonexistent, there was nothing special about the steak, except that it sucked, the peppers were not grilled, and the several cheeses were there in name only. Oh yeah, the bread tasted like it was soaked in warm water. Ugh. I recommend Camp Sentinel food over Huck's. All in all, camp food was a 10 compared Huck's. Huck's sucks.
