My husband drove past here a few days back and had wanted to try it so we drove over today for lunch. It's small, not a lot of parking, but the food!!!! If you want southern BBQ this is the place!! The meat is dryer than some some places I have been, but it is sooo good! I had to try a little of everything and I was not disappointed! The potato salad was great, too! I liked the tortellini salad, but not quite as well. I had to try my hubs beans and they were amazing! The lemonade, which actually comes with the plate,, was perfect.. more tart than sweet, but perfectly sweetened.. They have a couple sauces to choose from if you want to add more flavor to your meats. One sweet, one spicy. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it! We ordered brisket and ribs (our go to), and oh my goodness the ribs were amazing. Great flavor, yet still juicy--definitely in my top three ribs ever eaten (which is saying a lot!). Completely overshadowed the brisket (also good, on the dryer side if you like less fatty pieces). Had a good experience while on vacation. They are open limited days so plan ahead before going there. You can do takeout or eat inside. Not a ton of parking but spots become available quickly. The staff was very nice and patient. The restaurant is very clean and loaded with quirky signs. Pricing is good. There are a few deals so you can sample a few of the meats. I got pulled pork and brisket. The brisket was very tender and broke apart easily, lots of flavor. The pulled pork was a little dry. The sauces made up for that. They had sweet and spicy. Tasted like authentic southern bbq sauce. I even added some to my Mac and cheese. On its own was good, the bbq sauce enhanced the flavor. When, during a relaxing, child-free week away at the Lake Winni area for a wedding, my husband suggested eating at a place called "Rubbin' Butts" BBQ, I confess that I was skeptical at best. The name threw me. But look. It's delicious. It's got the typical kitschy bbq place interior but I give it high marks because honestly, the inside was spotless. No weird sauce splashes everywhere or sticky tables. Lots of pickled sundries and cold salads and pie slices in the glass case, which is a good sign, IME. We went in planning to just get a little taste of things but it honestly smelled so good and I mused aloud that I might like to try the broccoli salad and was convinced by the cashier to do so. We bought more than a tasting, ha. We ordered a couple of multi-meat platters and portions were generous, the meat was so tender and juicy, real smoke rings, my brisket had both slices and a few burnt ends, and sides - the broccoli salad, the cute little cornbread loaf - were so delicious they almost outshined the meats. In particular, the mac and cheese, which I myself usually do not partake in and only barely tolerate watching my husband eat, reeled me in with the sharp cheesy taste and lack of the usual soft and mushy gloop that I usually hate about bbq joint macaroni and cheese. Reader, I ate it. Worth a stop or even a detour for some elusive yummy bbq in New England and worth trying a bit of everything. I have had tons of BBQ form all over. I have lived in the Carolina's and Texas. The bbq had good flavor but.... I ordered a pound of pulled pork and half of it was just fat. I have never had so much fat in pulled pork. Then I asked for some pickles and they wanted to charge me for the pickles. I kind of expected to to have to pay for extra bbq sauce but that was free. The kielbasa was good and the BBB sandwich was decent. Once again half of the brisket they put on top was fat and the pulled pork was very fatty. The mini corn bread was the best I've ever had, it was crispy and buttery on the outside and soft and crumbly on the inside. The dry rub ribs were great and they have a selection of sauces inside to complement the ribs. The mac and cheese was rich and the sharp cheddar taste was great. The sausage was absolutely addicting and I highly recommend it. The broccoli salad wasn't too heavy and was a nice side to mellow out the dense meats and mac and cheese. My only complaint was the chicken... I found it extremely dry and even the bbq sauces didn't help revive it. Found this place on yelp rated high for the area at first noticed the yelp page said they were closed but that wasn't true, me and my girlfriend got the 1/2 rack of ribs and I got mac and cheese pulled pork. Presentation was good for the food, the ribs were kind of bland and didn't have much favor the mac and cheese was great but same issue with pork wasn't much flavor in the meat. I commend Rubbin' Butts for holding off and not raising their prices for months. Unfortunately, my most recent trip for take out was very disappointing. I got a half chicken which was not freshly smoked and might have been leftover from the previous week. It was starting to smell rancid and was extremely dry. The brisket was probably one third fat, which I don't understand if they hand slice to order, you can see the amount of fat that is being served. A little is expected. Disappointing of all was the "nachos". No shredded cheddar, limited amount of pulled pork and an up charge for extra onions of which there were none. I'll bring this to their attention the next time I go since I don't live locally to them. read more

Great small BBQ restaurant that has only been open since memorial day. Clean and open, they offer a variety of combination plates, meat by the pound and dinner package options. It's a great option for grabbing a meal to have on the lake or to grab after a day on the lake when you don't feel like cooking. It was the perfect sized meal. The chicken was moist but did lack a bit of the smokey floor permeating the restaurant. Mark. Brisket was fatty, moist and delicious and I was surprised he shared. Really sorry to see some negative remarks here, the gals were lovely to order and pick up, three of us for lunch to go today for less than $40 and we have leftovers! Besides that, the Mac & cheese was darn good, the pulled pork, brisket and kielbasa were all sampled by each of us and we all enjoyed, Cole slaw, potato salad and pickles too. The service here was poor enough for me to write a review. My girlfriend and I felt like we were troubling the girl at the register simply by ordering. She couldn't answer questions about what plate included what (the menu had great variety but was a bit vague) Our meal came out relatively fast but was missing some things listed on the menu, which we had to ask for/get ourselves. The food was decent, nothing special. Especially for the prices. This place has cool aesthetics which makes for great potential.
