The owner has been doing it this way for a long time, so I know it's a local favorite, just not the type of bbq I would prefer. I wasn't fond of the sides as well (cornbread, beans, mac & cheese, potato salad). They could be great for someone else - just not what I'm used to. Lastly, I wish there was a sampler platter to choose from as the overall cost was fairly high, around $70 which gave us a ton of food leftover. The hostess was not there when we got there so we waited a few minutes and then thought we needed to venture into the restaurant a little further to find someone. She then greeted us by telling us we should've stayed at the hostess table to be sat. She then continue to make slight comments such as when you're ready I can actually see you and things such like that I don't normally write reviews where I have to add that some of the staff members were rude, but I do wanna note that. Our waitress , I believe her name was Rae, was fantastic. She was absolutely hilarious super friendly. And worked with all of our allergies make sure she noted it on all of our food orders. Still, six runs in that temperature with a stiff wind took the energy out of me. That's when the Backcountry Bar and Grill came through with a superb Irish Coffee that allowed me to be back after thawing out, with new energy and desire to ski. We then came over here for an early Apre Ski. Five people had superb brews, superb Ultimate Grilled Cheese, awesome Chicken Sandwich. And a Backcountry Pulled Pork with an Apple bourbon barbecue sauce that had me licking my fingers. The bartender was the best I've seen in New England.
