We were staying at the Agriturismo up the road and wandered down here in search of a decent dinner. It definitely didn't seem like the kind of place you'd find a restaurant, and we were kind of skeptical of the place because there were only 2 other customers inside (and they appeared to friends of the owner/manager) and the whole ambiance seemed a little outdated and unremarkable. I think they were as surprised to see us as we were to find them, as they probably don't get many tourists out there. However, they quickly became very appreciative of our presence and threw in a bunch of things on the house - fried zucchini flowers (wow!), freshly sliced ribbons of prosciutto and a glass of champagne. The food itself was actually outstanding - I got a regional pasta called "Pici" (thicker, braided spaghetti) and my wife got these pecorino pouches with cracked pepper that she was obsessing over. If you find yourself out here and are looking for a great meal, I'd definitely give it a shot.

The food was amazing and the service top notch. 2 days later we went again for dinner. This time it was crowded on Sat eve, but the food was just as delicious and the service just as welcoming. I want to prompt my kudos by saying that I was a cook as a profession, I love to cook and my family is 100% Italian and knows good Italian food. The food in Tuscany is truly outstanding everywhere I've gone, this place included. What makes this place special is the unbelievable friendly service and slightly lower prices. Both times we received free dessert drinks. The first time we also received some cookies while we sat around chatting and taking our time; and the 2nd time the hostess greeted us with small glasses of prosecco a few minutes after we sat down. Between the two of us we had many items on their menu, and everything was perfectly cooked and fabulously delicious. I'm not sure I've ever rated anything 5 full stars... this place truly deserves it.

Maybe we were just unlucky, but in our case the restaurant across the street (which we tested 2 days later) was the much better choice.

My first trip to Siena I happened upon this spot for reasons lost to time. I saw on the menu chinghale in dolce e forte. Sadly no other restaurants in Siena have this dish, so if ur looking for a true taste of Tuscany this is it! My visit the other day was probably the best ever. Service was excellent, great night.
