I had one of the most surprisingly positive and comical experiences of my life at this place, situated on a dirt road in the middle of the Sienna farms.
We were staying at the Agriturismo up the road and wandered down here in search of a decent dinner. It definitely didn't seem like the kind of place you'd find a restaurant, and we were kind of skeptical of the place because there were only 2 other customers inside (and they appeared to friends of the owner/manager) and the whole ambiance seemed a little outdated and unremarkable. I think they were as surprised to see us as we were to find them, as they probably don't get many tourists out there.
However, they quickly became very appreciative of our presence and threw in a bunch of things on the house - fried zucchini flowers (wow!), freshly sliced ribbons of prosciutto and a glass of champagne. The food itself was actually outstanding - I got a regional pasta called "Pici" (thicker, braided spaghetti) and my wife got these pecorino pouches with cracked pepper that she was obsessing over.
If you find yourself out here and are looking for a great meal, I'd definitely give it a shot. read more
