The list of things these guys get right is long. On our first visit the chef took delivery of a perfect box of figs, spontaneously offering them to customers at the bar paired with great cheese and ham. 5+ visits on, I have always found something delightful, simple and seasonal on the fast-changing menu. Not everything is a hit, but isn't it so much better to have tried, occasionally failed, and lived in the moment?
This ls loud, fast, informal dining with an emphasis on food, and a distinct absence of stuffy formality. If you want the good stuff, you might have to queue, and sit close to the next guy. Londoners are taking their own sweet time to get used to this approach, while New Yorkers watch and laugh. If you're expecting a table-cloth, a comfy seat and to be greeted as Madam or Sir then stick with one of the many staid places with the average-to-poor food London does so reliably.
