They have multiple doors to enter which was confusing, so I had to double back to the counter where you actually had to order drinks. The interiors are spacious. inviting, and modern, as evidenced by the nearly 30 people I saw camped out at tables working away at their laptops or holding video conferences. They also have a nice outdoor patio space as well. I went with an order of a half sweet iced mocha latte. There's an additional charge for any added flavoring, so the drink set me back over $7 (before any tip). While I don't mind paying a bit extra for a great drink, I felt it was very average in taste and probably would have received better from a chain coffee shop. Service from the staff was friendly. I felt this is one of those more modern workspace coffee shops that's lost in a bit of an identity crisis with some market and prepared food items. Perhaps I'm just not their target clientele given they seem to have a loyal following, but felt Chestnut Coffee House was a pretty average and slightly overpriced drink experience for me.

You can't drive up to it, so that's a consideration for people with any ambulatory issues. However, there is a parking garage close by, so that will satisfy most people. I drove into the access for the parking garage, and dropped off hubby, as he has had recent foot surgery. I then drove back out to the street and parked. I do like free parking. The area in front of Carmella's is beautiful and expansive. A breeze was blowing, the leaves were moving, and you get to capture that view and feeling inside the restaurant. We sat right at a window. Hubby and I shared the Raspberry Almond Tart (GF) and a Latte. Yeah, it was GOOD. I mean good as in I Could Have Eaten An Entire Tart. But, come on; you know I didn't need that whole thing. Sigh. This is the type of place where they make their own syrups in house (which I prefer). If you're looking for pastries, you're in luck because they have those too! When I visited I tried their brown sugar cinnamon latte and blueberry scone which they so graciously delivered to my table. But, the owner remembered us from a couple days before (and that we were out-of-towners) and while someone else was helping them, got our order started for us so it was already ready and we just paid for it once the Pokey People were done putting in their order. So we were out in just a couple more minutes. Now THAT is excellent service. I particularly recommend the pistachio latte and nutella lattes, both delicious!

At the door is a wise saying, on a sign, by the proprietor, Giacomo , that we met. Translation: "Tout le monde veut gagner jusqu'à ce qu'ils se rendent compte du nombre de défaites qu'il faut." Or "Everyone wants to win until they realize how many defeats it takes." We had a wonderful conversation with Giacomo discussing our trip to Italy and my passion, Italian cars. He told us that he also has live music on the patio, on occasion. The espresso and croissants were delicious. If we lived in the area I would make this a weekly stop. I am not surprised that every review is 5 stars. They are well deserved! Highly recommend and wish Giacomo much success.
