We met up with our tour guide, Grace, outside of the Trinity College main gated entrance. Overall I enjoyed the tour we had. Grace was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of history of the sights we stopped at: first on the grounds of Trinity College, then through the nearby neighborhood, including Old Parliament and Temple Bar. She also took us to an area close to Temple Bar to discuss Viking settlements, which was neat! It was difficult to hear her for a good amount of the time due to the volume of traffic and the fact our group was on the larger side. I wish that the company might consider this and either make adjustments to group size, look into a portable voice amplifier, or simply have the guide speak in an "outdoor voice." Unfortunately I did not know the area and parked by timed metered parking, so we had to depart the tour early since my meter was expiring! (Oops.) I would recommend the tour, but suggest that you ensure you cozy right up to the tour guide so you don't miss out on any information!

This was by far my favorite activity in the week we spent in Dublin! It really gave a sense of…read morecontinuity between the Dublin featured in the novels and memoirs of the city's literary giants -- of which there are many -- and the Dublin of modern day. I realized that in Dublin, history isn't something you go places to see; you're swimming in it, everywhere you look. Our fearless leaders were brilliant -- gave power and poise and poignancy to the scenes they enacted (some of which were hysterically funny), and still managed to socialize with the group, and even engage us in a historical quiz at the end with prizes! (Seriously obscure questions, with interesting answers, too.) Plus, all the wonderful pubs, with the history that unfolded there... Pacing was great. We had supper at the Duke, which does a mean Irish stew, then broke up our walk with tipples at the various featured establishments, ending at possibly my favorite pub, Davy Byrne's. Glorious Art Deco, featured prominently in Ulysses, and showcasing an original first printing of the book itself!

Working together with the group in the months before was easy and the tour guys were very accommodating. This was a terrific way to spend a first night in Dublin. We all loved the short acts and history lessons. Highly recommended. As an added bonus, one of the actors was playing after the tour at Temple Bar so a group went there to watch. Epic night!

Our driver/guide for Ireland was Andy, and his over and above customer service has made us Rabbie's customers for life. The company motto should be "We're going with or without you, so please join the fun!" Rabbie's guarantees your tour. You don't have to sweat a last second cancelation that wrecks your travel plans. Our Irish tour had a total of five people on a sixteen-person bus. We had a running discussion of Irish history, culture, and cuisine you just cannot get on a 60-person big bus tour. Take a tour with with Rabbie's and skip the crowd.

All this was done with such ease and laid back style by our amazing tour guide and never rushing us to "...be back on the bus by..." edicts!  If you like me have a wonderment about history, ruins, spirituality great food choices or just plain every day life, this is the tour for you!    You can't beat the priced and will not ever regret it! We will be back to Ireland because of Rabbies and when we get back to Scotland will check them out there as well.

The wind howled…read morethrough the 'clubhouse' making a screeching, chilling sound, and the 'dungeon' room provided the only respite from the sleet. But here's the thing. That all added to the atmosphere. The Hellfire Club is a place solely dedicated to - as my Dad would say - 'shady goings on.' You will need to do the tour to find out the gory details, but do the tour you should. Unexpectadely, the tour also takes in a bit of a history lesson, from when it was built around 1700, to the current day. The guide talks about it's association with Satanism, the supernatural and the occult, as well as the political tone of the time. Our driver was actually one of the ones who witnessed, many years ago, some haunting activities up here. To hear his account, first hand, really brought it all home. The tour is eerie, exhilarating, spooky, at times funny, and always entertaining. It will give you a new view on Dublin, both literally and figuratively.

I'd been wanting to do this particular tour for ages so was delighted when it came up as part of the Yelp "Festival of Firsts" Not quite sure what we were thinking heading up the Dublin Mountains on one of stormiest weeks of the year but wrapped up to within an inch of my life we headed off from The Brazen Head (another first for me in Dublin's oldest pub) which is a very cool spot too! The guys from Hidden Walks kept the stories going setting the scene the entire time from the Brazen Head up to the foot of the mountains. Such great views over Dublin on the mini hike up to the Hirefire Club..I could probably have have done with a torch but walking in the dark kinda adds to the effect! Loved the spookiness of the stories once inside the club & the stormy evening added more to the Haunted evening! Wish I got to do this at Halloween! Top marks though, a great way to spend an evening. Hot Ports required all around afterwards!!!
