Front window right after job was finished

I requested an estimate, they responded quickly. We set up a day for them to come out and do the work, a little while later they contacted me saying they could do it a day earlier. They knocked it out, matched the texture perfectly. They did it for a fair price and I would definitely use them again.

Full house restucco and paint! Fine sand finish for a smooth look
Sarah C.

I wanted a whole refinish on my older 1960s house in Costa Mesa. Hated the clumps of stucco that was the current finish. Omar and his crew came in at a great price for a full restucco and paint. I had some old wood and a window that needed to be covered up. They did the job quickly and efficiently. I really liked the painter Lopez. He was very good! Overall I'm very pleased with the professional experience and timely workmanship. I would recommend them to anyone who needs similar services.

What our home looked like before Duarte's Plastering services!

We hired Duarte's Plastering for stucco and brick veneer installation services for our home remodel / addition project. They did a full re-stucco on the existing part of our house, stucco on the new addition section, and brick veneer detailing throughout. To say our home was transformed would be an understatement - we are beyond happy with how everything turned out! Omar was super communicative and responsive throughout the process, and regularly inspected and made improvements to the work along the way as needed to ensure I was completely satisfied with the end result (and I am very picky!). We also needed our fascia boards repainted, and the painting crew he brought on was also amazing! We continue to receive compliments on the work that was done by our family, friends and neighbors. Highly recommend Duarte's Plastering for all your home exterior needs!

I would highly recommend Omar and his team. Omar is very responsive, does good quality work and stands by his work. We had a tight timeline and Omar moved things around on his end to accomodate. I would hire Omar and Duarte's Plastering again without a hesitation!

Duarte's Plastering did an amazing job with re-stuccoing our house. Omar is very knowledgeable about stucco issues and helped to educate us on ways to address certain areas of the structure where plaster was crumbling because water wasn't draining properly. His estimate was both fair and competitive to others we received. His entire crew was professional, worked efficiently, and took care to keep the property clean when they left each day. Omar was also excellent with communication and prompt with responding to questions, which we appreciate. The end result is incredible. We couldn't be happier with how much nicer the house looks now.

Aston carved out some time on his weekend to come check out the job and provide a quote. He was super upfront about what he could do and gave us recommendations even if we didn't move forward with him. He answered ALL of our questions and made us feel very at ease (especially after working with a contractor that was the complete opposite). Aston emailed me a very detailed and reasonable quote that evening and we hired him that next day. He is seriously one of the best contractors I've worked with (I work with contractors for a living so I've seen the full spectrum of good, bad, and ugly). He is super friendly and VERY communicative. I would rather have someone that over-communicates than under, because it removes assumptions from both sides. The work he does looks really great. He is extremely tidy and cleaned up the areas at the end of every day. He was able to match the old French lace texture we have over a fairly large area. His work has held up wonderfully, especially after the week and a half or rain we just had. Pictures posted are the before, in process, and unpainted finished work. HIGHLY recommend.

This is my revise review on P&R Lathing…read more To save time I won't go into all the details, but I hired P&R Lathing to remove and replace the weep screed and replace the black waterproofing paper at my home. When the work was finished, I believed everything had been done correctly and I initially left a positive review. I cannot remove the review so I am updating it. Later, I hired a mold remediation company to address a separate issue. During their work they removed a full wall of drywall. When they finished their process, the owner showed me that daylight was visible through multiple gaps at the bottom of the wall by the weep screed. If I didn't have the drywall removed I would have never known that the work was done improperly and would have ended up getting mold again. He explained that if the problem is not corrected, Moisture and pests can enter and mold will return. It appears that when P&R Lathing installed the weep screed, there are many gaps where you could see daylight from the outside. Because of this, insects came inside the house and had moisture intrusion entered the wall cavity, and during rains my mudsill, 2x4's and the interior of the black paper was wet. I had to run air blowers and a dehumidifier to dry the area to prevent mold from returning. I contacted Richard Warren, the owner of P&R Lathing, and asked him to resolve the problem. He said just put some caulking on the inside and outside. That is a band aid I paid almost $5,000 hired a licensed contractor because I wanted it to be done the right way! You are not supposed to put caulking on the outside or else you will get mold. I even offered to pay for the removal and replacement of the weep screed as long as it was corrected properly, without any additional profit to him since the original work had already been paid for. He had a worker paint on the foundation a cement sealer that didn't work. As a result, I filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and am currently waiting for them to resolve the issue. In my opinion, I would recommend hiring a different contractor. While the workers were doing the work, Richard never came by to check on the quality of the work. He only came at the beginning to show the crew where to do the work and returned again when the job was finished to collect the payment.

OH BOY, STUCCO BOY!…read more I met with Jereme (the owner of Stucco Boy/Builder Boy) to discuss an exterior refinishing project. We've got some TEX-COTE that the prior owners added that is failing and in need of repair. To their credit, Jereme is knowledgeable about TEX-COTE and the company even has a landing page on their website describing how to fix a failing application. They offer services to repair and re-apply, and Jereme mentioned this would be an option for us, in addition to a more involved re-plastering. Jereme said he'd break out different options for us. Despite Jereme's demeanor coming off a bit slick and salesy, them being a local company with experience with TEX-COTE gave me some confidence. I received a proposal that I felt was reasonably priced. Before selecting the company for my project, I had some follow-up questions I asked the office staff via email regarding coordinating the project with other work being done-namely a re-roof project that I'd be undertaking. After a little back-and-forth, Jereme called me directly. I was able to ask my questions about coordination with the roofing company, and he put my mind at ease. He described how the roofing company would handle tear-off and paper the roof, and then Stucco Boy would come in and water blast and prep. He was pretty specific about his recommendations and that fully addressed my questions. He said that I'd be able to put them into contact with the roofer to work out the specifics and "when roofing companies hear that, they are relieved"-indicating to me that there'd be a proactive direct coordination that would help streamline the process. WONDERFUL! After receiving HOA approval for the project, I reached out to Builder Boy and said I'd like to proceed with them. I followed up with a few questions including one about timing and order of operations to coordinate with the roofing and solar to take place (roughly, at this point) in January. The responses I got from the office staff to my questions were different than what Jereme had indicated; instead of coordinating with the roofers, they said that it would be better for them to do their work after the roofers had completed. There was some back-and-forth where I tried to reconcile the differences in the office staff's answers/recommendations of doing work after everything else was done and what Jereme had indicated to me on our earlier phone call. Two days after not hearing anything back, I received a phone call from Jereme. He indicated to me that he'd heard from his team that I was "frustrated" and that I had taken an "aggressive tone" with his staff and he hoped to understand my frustration but also see if there was a path forward. He indicated that he cares about his staff; the implication he was stepping in to shield them from unfair treatment. I told him that I was confused, and asked if he'd read the emails-my hope was to ensure we were on the same page about what my issue actually was and for me to understand what about my correspondence was "aggressive." He replied he'd "skimmed" the email-so I asked him if I'd be able to read it to him--much of my confusion stemmed from what the office staff was suggesting and how it was much different than what Jereme had indicated regarding coordinating steps with the roofing company. He responded "I get it, you're a good guy" as if my primary intent in reading him the email to was somehow clear my name, and he followed up with "I'd rather not live in the past and instead just move forward." Wait, seriously?! You imply I'm mistreating your staff, you're only vaguely aware of what my issue actually is and when I attempt to talk in specific terms about either of those things you suddenly want to "move forward"? I tried to explain to Jereme the disconnect, and how the staff's recommendation wasn't what he and I had discussed earlier, so I was confused. He said "it can be done either way" and "it's up to the customer"- but kept insisting that his staff was correct in their suggestion without acknowledging it was different than what he himself earlier had suggested, and that was the source of my confusion. The whole time it felt like Jereme was trying to gaslight me, and whenever I tried to be specific about our conversation or clarify what my issue actually was, he'd deflect and say dismissively "it's up to you; just tell us when to show up and we'll be there." I was pretty floored at this point and couldn't shake the feeling that I was getting hustled by this guy. I knew that as he kept insisting he wanted to "move forward" without actually talking about the nature of the problem, it was a sign that this wasn't the kind of company, and Jereme the kind of person, I could trust. So I calmly told him that it was clear to me it wouldn't be a good fit, he said "OK," and that was the extent of my experience with Builder Boy. Jereme: because you didn't bother reading the email exchange before, I posted it here for your convenience.
