I stopped into this metaphysical shop located in South Pasadena a few weeks back. A good friend mentioned we had one in the neighborhood, and I came in to browse. I usually frequent Alexandria Book Shop in Pasadena or the House of Intuition in Highland Park. I love the energy inside Dual Crossroads. It's smaller in comparison to the other shops but they have a good variety of crystals, a tarot reader on hand, sage wands, oils, incense, sand, herbs, and more. There's a tarot reader in house and it's by appointment only. However, if the reader happens to be free you can come in and grab a reading on the spot. They have a variety of different prices available for different times, but I believe I saw $33 for 15 minutes. If you live local and are in the area looking for supplies, this is a great shop. Looking for parking? They have a free underground parking garage across the street.

This is a great space! I'm not sure how we've never been here before, but I'm so thankful to have found it. The space itself is very open, inviting, soft music playing in the background and so much to look at, and touch...my wife and I just fell in love. The woman working was so nice and friendly, and didn't seem to mind that we were there for awhile. Like I said, there's lots to look at...different crystals, books, jewelry (which were all so beautiful), and lots of homemade items. The candles especially were amazing. I'll be honest, I've had some health issues recently. Our reason for even coming was to look for a few crystals to help with the pain and discomfort I've been feeling. We were only there a few minutes and I felt so much better. I felt no pain and was completely relaxed. It was AWESOME! We walked out with a bag full of goodies and we're extremely happy with our purchases. Ohh and you can bet your booty I'll be back to take a class on how to make jewelry, or join the hike and trash clean up.

Stumbled into this store a few years ago and it's been a point of reference ever since. The gems are priced so affordable, making it your only needed crystal shop. Every employee is so sweet and generous with information and help. Even with restrictions of shopping; they have made it easy to get crystals online and have it for same day pick up. I ordered custom candles and they came out wonderful. Will be making another order next week!!

South Pasadena is lucky to have this gem of a store in the community. I discovered this place while searching for a crystal class. It turns out that this class was their first-ever workshop since the shop's opening almost a year ago. Jennifer, the owner, explained that they are currently expanding their workshop menu to include mommy and me classes and meditation sessions. Perfect for a community like South Pas with its myriad families and overworked parents! Jennifer showed us several crystals and explained the properties of each. Then, after choosing our crystal, Kelby showed us how to wrap it with wire to make a pendant. What made this class extra cool was when Jennifer set up an altar and lead us through a short ceremony to personalize our crystals. She had also offered us wine and cheese as we worked on our pendants with new age chanteuse Enya's music playing in the background. It was a fun evening accentuated by Jennifer's wit and hospitality, along with Kelby's patient instruction. After the class, I had a chance to browse the shop. I liked the eclectic selection of items: art, clothing, candles, jewelry, journals, sage bundles, incense, books, and cute Halloween decorations. The location is fantastic: it's right by the Metro Gold Line station and in the heart of the Mission District which is always fun to explore. I liked that Dual Crossings isn't a hardcore new age or spiritual shop. It carries plenty of metaphysical things for sure, but also lots of mainstream, kitschy, and humorous items which makes the shop very approachable. For someone like me, who tends to be uneasy with anything too occult-y, it was a comfortable place to be.

Cute things for crushing(don't remember what it's called), but used for cooking or for incense.

And the prices are extremely reasonable. And besides for being reasonable, you can find nice pieces in the under ten dollar range, well into the one hundred and fifty or more. There really is something for any budget. I was greeted when I entered the store and asked if I needed help...but was not asked every five minutes (something that I see as a major plus). I didn't intend to buy so much, but I found something for each member of my family and a few friends, too. My favorites were the ornaments, children's area, kitchen items (aprons, dish towels) and the beautiful jewelry!! I had so much fun browsing and I am thrilled with my purchases. Thank you, Laurel! You are running a fab shop here in Pasadena and I can't wait to return!

I was fortunate enough to work briefly in the area last year and found this shop on my lunch walk. So many cool gifts, jewelry, etc. I love small shops with unique gifts like this that rotate artists, etc. Kind of hidden on the back streets of old town Pasadena. From now on, I'll always stop by and check if there's (at least) a new card to add to my collection. Don't forget to ask about their "secret stash" of additional cards, too.

Many people who shop in Old Town Pasadena focus on the stores easily accessible from the main street, Colorado. However, some of the shops off the main drag, such as the ones on Holly Street, are unique and fascinating. The two Retreats do share merchandise in common. You will find a bevy of delightful greeting cards, jewelry and candles at both. However, I would strongly encourage you to visit both shops, because each has some items that you won't find at the other location. It was at this shop that I first saw the owner's, Diane, artwork on display. She's made a significant collection of gorgeous, shimmering mandalas. I remember the first time I saw them a couple year ago and I was quite impressed. Since then, you will see more of her mandalas at both Retreat locations, as well as some of the pieces that evolved from her work with these pieces of sacred geometry. Like the other Retreat, this is an excellent gift shop. My stationary drawer is positively overflowing with cards I've bough here. I love shopping at Retreat because I always find something, small or large, that's just right for a friend of mine. Whenever I look through the cards that I've found here I get excited for the right time to send a particular card to a particular friend or family member. It is very easy to find something for any budget. I've found so many fun trinkets, amusing coasters and clever devices to have around the house. And all of these things were around twenty dollars or less. The jewelry, of course, is going to be a bit more pricey, but I feel you are definitely paying for quality. The staff on duty have always been nothing but helpful and friendly. I always enjoy chatting with whoever is minding the store at the moment. Definitely recommend.

As one of the oldest independent bookstores in California, it has a really special charm. While I was there, I got to listen to an author present her book and answer questions, which added such a unique and memorable touch to the visit. The store was busy, and you could really feel how much people enjoyed being there. The layout is well organized, making it easy to find books by genre. Upstairs, there's a spacious children's section, which is great for families. I also loved the section featuring Orson Welles books and posters. It was a really cool and unexpected addition.
