Only since they had a $39.95 for a FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE is the ONLY reason I went to Tuffy's…read moreat this location. They are the BIGGEST RIP OFF I've experienced in a very long time! Here's a few examples ... TUFFYs on WEST 5th Av told me I needed SUSPENSION STRUTS ($1664 worth) coz my vehicle was "very bouncy" which it isn't AT ALL & they didn't even drive the car! Note: I had a 4 WHEEL ROTATION/BALANCE AND ALIGNMENT the day before elsewhere. I called back to the place that did my alignment to be sure they checked all suspension components (just out of curiosity since it's hard to trust some of these places) and they DID to find nothing that needed replaced! Then Tuffy said I "needed" a BATTERY REPLACEMENT coz there was some RESIDUE on it! Instead of just wiping it off, they'd prefer to rip off a customer! That was going to be $200! They sure don't go out of their way, in the very least! Then I "needed" SPARK PLUGS... (I had those replaced 3 years ago and had no issues there either.) Another $300! Then I "needed" BRAKE FLUID FLUSH (No reason just that it needed to be topped off) Oh they don't do top offs for a simple pouring of fluid into the reservoir until it reaches the full line! They'd rather charge $115 for a FLUSH! Then I "needed" STEERING COMPONENTS (tie rods & steering gear) Again, I had no issues there. Oh, that was an additional $500. The next day AFTER this BS nightmare, I brought the list of repairs from TUFFY to my regular car repair place that I've used for a decade for any major problems come up coz he's proven to be trustworthy. He did a DIAGNOSTIC and found nothing wrong with any of the above issues. (Which I already felt I knew but wanted confirmation.) So, THIS is what they call a "FREE COURTESY INSPECTION!" I'd call it something else but all in all saved myself $3,000 coz I speak up, ask questions, decline and follow thru with what I knew was a means of financial exploitation. Stay away from THIS TUFFY's LOCATION on 1524 W Fifth Ave

This place is absolutely terrible. The owners are nothing but scam artists and frauds. I took my…read morecar in for an AC repair, and when I took it home, something was leaking from my car. When I took it to a real repair shop, they said something internal was broken and that a cover had been put over it to hide the damage. Disgusting. Additionally, the AC only worked for two months, because it turns out they did it wrong. They charged us a pretty penny for the services we got there, and nothing in our car actually got fixed. NEVER go here. Not if it's convenient, not if it's cheaper than another place. It's just a big, gross scam.

***THEY WILL CHARGE YOU DOUBLE THE PRICE THEY GET THE PARTS FOR***…read moreWill not be bringing my car back here and definitely will not recommend them to anyone. The service is poor and the workers have zero customer service. Everyone who works there acts like they hate their life and acted like I was an inconvenience by bringing in my car to get it fixed. They also over charge customers for their parts, and with labor added on to terrible service staff, it's just not worth it. I think it's time to replace the management and get some new friendly workers in there. Good luck bringing your car in here, if you want crappy overpriced half-assed work on your car, then this is the place for you.

I'm extremely disappointed writing this…read more Over the years, I've been recommended by several people to John's Tires & Brakes because they were always friendly and made customers feel like family. They would offer rides, snacks, and made the experience feel personal. Because of that, there was a lot of trust built. Unfortunately, someone very close to me recently discovered that multiple repairs done here were either poorly completed or failed far sooner than they should have. Spark plugs that were replaced last May (with only about 5,000 miles driven since) were already completely fried, despite typically lasting much longer. Wiring that was replaced just last month also needs to be redone because it's damaged. On top of that, another mechanic showed that the welding work done on the muffler/exhaust was poorly done and may have contributed to further damage, including the catalytic converter needing replacement. I strongly encourage anyone getting major repairs here to seek a second opinion.

But as I was getting on the freeway with my baby in the backseat, his words came again "you gotta get that fixed before it blows". So I pulled over, googled for the closest tire shop near me, and it was right across the street so we drove over. I was assisted right away and the owner confirmed the truck drivers warning to be true- both of my front tires were VERY bad. As they were fixing me up, I looked at the sign on the building: WEST SIDE TIRE. and that's when I remembered the shirt I picked out to wear that morning: WEST SIDE is the best side. I felt in my gut that I was absolutely supposed to be there, at that moment. It was confirmation for me... between the truck driver and the crew at West Side tire, our lives may have been saved that day. Thank you!
