Very poor experience. Attempted to order an item for a family member for Christmas about 4 weeks prior to the 25th of december. They sent me multiple emails over a 3 to 4 day span confirming item details that had already been confirmed through the ordering process. This delayed shipping of the item. Absolute waste of time and money for 3 embroidered hats. Was attempting to get them made for an event and selected the option of delivery within 3-5 business days (of course with extra charges for the rush) and I have still not seen the hats and it's been a month since the order. Then they contacted me a few days ago saying my order was ready to be picked up and that it wasn't getting shipped, and had to argue with them just to get my products shipped so apparently they are on their way now. They said I selected local pickup when I ordered the hats, even when my original invoice has all the original shipping info and charges from the order. And I live hours away from where they're at in Vernon. Wish I never would've attempted using DTLA for 3 quick event hats, they have no intention of getting you a product you're happy with, they just hope your card clears and you forget about the products you purchased. read more

Mediocre, lethargic, dirty print shop. They might be ok for printing basic t-shirts you buy through them, but don't even consider bringing contract printing (your own apparel) to them, especially if it's white. You will get dirty stuff, smudges, ink everywhere, pieces printed backwards. Expect a 5% damage rate, IE 1 out of every 20 pieces will be garbage, which sucks when you've already paid for fabric, sewing, and dyeing. There are so many other screen printers in LA that have the skills to treat your clothing with care. Also, the prices are 2-3X higher than what you'd pay with a better printer, and the turnaround time for me was 8 weeks to finish. If you're a clothing designer, DO NOT go here. read more

Messed up my order didn't refund my money for messed up merchandise personally do not recommend

Last year I was in charge of developing an apparel line for our company and got in contact with DTLA based off their extensive list of clientele. I worked with Michael. We did an initial meeting where I brought in samples and explained very clearly what I needed. Simple heat presses on athletic fabrics. He assured me it could be done and told me everything I needed to hear. We put down a deposit to get the process started. Scheduled another meeting where I brought in production samples to him. After he had already said that it would be an easy job, now he sees the samples and changes his tunes, asking us to give him the cut pieces before production is complete and to change the printing method to accommodate. We put our production contract on hold, I deliver the pieces. Michael is nowhere to be found for 2 days. I call his cell, no reply, no replies to e-mails, call in and the office tells me he called out sick. We had just agreed to meet that day the night before... This was typical from Michael, very bad communication, which was great before we paid our deposit. I asked if he had left any instructions for another rep, no one had any idea about our project. Project gets pushed back. I finally meet with him with all the cut pieces and he acts like he has no idea what to do with it. At this point he basically does not want to do the work to sort through the pieces and work with the print team to make sure the print location is right. He takes advantage of me as a first time client and spins me a bunch of talk about how it needs to be done another way at production before they take it. I comply, spending 6 hours setting everything up the way he asked. I bring everything to him, we're now 2 weeks behind production schedule. I drop everything off and hear nothing from him. We were originally going to have some hoodies heat pressed and some athletic shorts and yoga crops heat pressed as well. We canceled the shorts and yoga crops because we were so behind in production we were about to take a serious hit from production fees. At this point I can't get in touch with him so I call to ask to speak with a manager. The reply i get is that he is the manager, no one will help me and they basically hang up on me. In other words Michael has done this to many other clients and they are drilled to make sure you will not reach anyone above him to express concerns. At this point I contact Michael to let him know we are 3 weeks behind production, I want my materials back and to forget the whole project. He tells me they had already made the materials for the shorts and yoga crops, even though we had canceled them a good 2 weeks prior. I explain to him he did not have approval to run the job so the materials are not on us. He holds our hoodies hostage and tells me until we pay the remaining balance he won't give us our product back. So let's rewind, he hasn't completed any of the work in the agreement, the agreement has been changed, we're 4 weeks behind production and he won't give us back our product unless we pay for work that has not been done and some materials we did not approve to be made. You're reading this right, he basically is extorting us. We contact American Express, file a claim, pay the remaining deposit, get our goods back and are on our way. American Express handles everything and gets our money back. This was a horrible experience. in 9 years of working with printers, production and design I have never seen a business run this way or an account rep handle a project like this. It was very clear Michael is irresponsible, smooth talker who will tell you what you need to hear to get your deposit and then blow you off completely until he feels like getting the work done. You can not trust DTLA. I have read other reviews and they did have a separate Yelp account, with a ton of 1 star reviews. They changed the name to something else and then registered this account to cover it up. Stay away from this business and especially Michael. If you are not a huge name in the industry they will seriously put a kink in your operations and charge you a ridiculous amount to do it. Don't waste your time with this print company! They may initially say they can get your order done in time and respond quickly to you, but once they get their 50% deposit they go ghost on you and never complete your order. Do not trust them!!! Their owner Michael said he can get our prints done in time, then once we dropped off the product and gave him his deposit, he responds to us the day of pick up saying he can't get them done because of the quality of the material, claiming they were polyester when on the tag it clearly said 100% cotton. He said he would just return our deposit, but when I tried to call him several times and left messages with his receptionist they kept saying he was "out of the office". I didn't believe this one bit so I went to the location myself to confront them. When I got there the receptionist who was clueless about everything, phoned Michael and said that I was there to see him. She said he would come out, I waited 45 minutes and Michael never came out. While I was waiting, the receptionist kept answering calls and would put people on hold, then would phone the person they were requesting to speak with and they would tell her to tell them that they are not at the office, she would then get back on the call that she had on hold and told them exactly that. SHE DID THIS TO EVERY CALL! Once I heard this, I sternly requested to see Michael ASAP. Then 10 minutes later I saw a guy walk past me and gave me a smirk as he walked out the door. I had a funny feeling that he was Michael so I looked him up online and found a photo of him and it really was Michael who just walked out right in front of me and gave me a smirk. To keep the story short, they continued to lie to me while I was waiting there and only came out with 23 printed bandanas (which looked perfectly fine! But I could tell they did them while I was waiting) And gave me the rest of the 488 blank bandanas just to try and get rid of me since I kept pressuring them for answers. She said she'd work with Michael the next day to get me my refund. Again, I DID NOT BELIEVE THEM. The next day I went again to request a copy of my refund being issued or a check/cash in-hand. This time the receptionist recognized me and told me more lies of how nobody was there to see me. I told her if I did not receive a copy of my refund being issued by Monday that I would have my attorney talk to them. We are still trying to get our refund, but I strongly believe that they are just SCAM ARTIST who don't do work and just keep your deposit. They need to be shut down!!! DO NOT WORK WITH THEM!! read more

All print shops are not created equal and DTLA has come through with flying colors (no pun intended) to accommodate our unique pieces. I am part owner of a fashion line in LA and we needed flocking prints done. It took some time and a bit of learning on our part to make everything perfect and after a few samples, DTLA was rolling out our prints like clock work. We dealt with Marie who has been a shining light with the production process and maintains the quality control that we need to fulfill our orders. This is one of the few places in LA that will do flock printing and just when I think every piece has reached perfection, they go above and beyond to exceed my expectations of quality and speed. read more

Wow, this company is super slow and super unclear. I filled out the quote request form back in December for a small embroidery order. I gave all the information they requested, style numbers of the blanks we would provide, quantities, etc. All of the info was in the request and one of the representatives reached out giving me mimumums for DTG...uhhh that's not what I requested. So I again asked is there a hard minimum for custom embroidery? The rep said they could work with me, depends on the designs, and we went back and forth for weeks. I had to send my AI files three times because he could not answer a simple question, how much for embroidery mimimums? The project was finally passed onto another rep, and at this point I had two other quotes from other vendors. But still I followed up to see what they could do...finally on Jan 12th, the other rep tells me well if you provide your own blanks the minimum is 100 pieces. WHY was that not clarified from day one!? They have a great site with lots of great information, makes the process look super easy, super organized. But they totally fail on customer service & transparency. Also, their "eco-friendly" statement is pretty much greenwashing...most of the companies that they get their blanks from are not truly sustainable or eco. It's a bummer that if you order through their supplier, you are in fact making a product that will just be part of the perpetual cycle of the waste in the apparel industry. I shudder to think what their process is for print if the quote process is such a disaster. Seems to me there is a lot of fluff & dishonesty from this company, and as we dug into more reviews, we most likely dodged a bullet. For printing needs in LA go to DELUXE and for embroidery, we sourced an amazing small vendor called Customs Culture. DTLA Print is the worse company I have worked with in any industry. They have messed up every order I have brought to them from small jobs of 100 shirts, to large jobs of 1000s. The first time DTLA Print miss-printed several shirts with the wrong design and color. They weren't ready on time anyway. After I brought new shirts they reprinted them and did not apologize, offer any sort of discount or do anything to make up for the 2 extra weeks the job too and the extra money I spent. The second time DTLA Print didn't even start the order for 2 weeks. Then I get an email asking for the quantities and art (which had been provided 2 weeks earlier). They eventually finished some many weeks later and even then the quantities were not right. Unbelievable. After that nightmare we moved all business to other companies. They act like they're going to do everything you need in the time you need when you walk in. Then they act as tho they don't want or need your business when something goes wrong. read more

My previous review was removed for "violating terms of service" because I didn't give enough details. So, I will. First off, DTLA has changed their name and created a new yelp page in order to escape bad reviews. I know this because a customer who had a similar experience told me. When I checked my reviews, the review I left for DTLA Print was now under a different company and DTLA had a new page with a 5 star rating. On to my experience... On my first visit to DTLA I waited around half an hour to see someone even though they knew I was coming. No biggie. Stuff happens. I understand. We discussed my order, pricing, the number of screens I would need, pickup, and etc. I put down the 50% deposit and then things went left. It was hard getting anyone on the phone or to return an email. The day my order was supposed to be ready, they informed me they had to push it back, but that it would be ready in a few days. I decided to pick my items up the day after they said it would be ready in order to avoid a wait. When I got there it still wasn't ready! Instead of telling me it wasn't ready they said they were packing it and they would be out shortly. I waited over an hour! An hour! I finally got my items and they tried to charge me more. Luckily I had the original invoice and only paid what was owed. I decided that I would never use them again. I took the same design to a different printer. A one stop shop from a complete line of finishing services, printing, sublimation, embroidery, and a whole set of specialty prints all here in Los Angeles. At first I thought I was working with China! :) The best photographic prints I have seen, they use a special process called Simulated process as opposed to the standard CMYK Process prints I'm used to. I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my life! They lied and said they could do a job for us only to find out later in the week that they never started it which forced us to miss our deadline. They are completely unable to handle multiple tasks. They then told us they found the material we were looking for in regard to another job, so we drove an hour to their office only for them to blow us off because they were too busy filming a "reality show." They then had the receptionist show us some BS fabric that wasn't even close to what we asked for. These people do not take their business or customers seriously. Its a complete joke. They use super high-quality materials, keep me updated on the status of my order, charge fair and affordable prices, and most importantly, they work QUICKLY. I used to order shirts online-- they took weeks to ship, came out wrong, and ended up being printed on cheap and uncomfortable fabric. Total waste of time and money. With DTLA, all you need is an image of your design and an idea of what you want the finished product to be -- they'll take care of the rest.
