If I could give the Dryve cleaners on Riverdale in Memphis, TN a minus zero, I would. Prior to the recent incident with a pair of red, wide slacks taken in for dry cleaning, I had used this business 5 or 6 times with no problem. I purchased a pair of red slacks from Dillard's for Valentines Day 2021. I must add that I love the fit, the color, style; they are or were a perfect pair of slacks which are not easy to find. Anyway, I wore them on Valentines Day. I took the red slacks along with two other pairs of slacks in for dry cleaning at Dryve Cleaners on Riverdale. Upon getting them back and inspection, I noticed what looked like an iron imprint on the front crouch area onboth pant legs. The mark was also present on one of the of pair of pants cleaned. I was really concerned so I immediately put the red slacks in the dryer to see if the imprints would come out. They did not. I took them back to the cleaners and explained the situation. I was told to wash the slacks to see if the imprint would come out. I took them home and washed them. The imprint did not come out. I returned to the cleaners again and asked the Hispanic lady who runs the place everyday what they were going to do fix the problem. I was told they were not responsible for doing anything because it's the cheap material that could not withstand dry cleaning. She went on to say that the owner would not be willing to do anything for the ruined pants that I have a receipt for and had only worn on one occasion. Once the owner arrived, I explained the situation again. Meanwhile, as I am explaining, the Hispanic lady is going out of her way to impress upon him that they are not responsible for what happened and that the pants are cheap. I was appalled. How could she possibly be so opposed to addressing a legitimate customer concern. That was rhetorical but still very mind boggling because we share a very similar struggle.
The owner is of an Asian descent, asked if I would leave them to correct the problem. I was hesitant but relented. I went back the next day. Low and behold, the pants were in worse condition. The imprint was still there plus, very visible stains on top of the imprints. Only at that point did the Hispanic lady take responsibility. Countless apologies and begged for other opportunity to fix the problem which at that point, I was certain the slacks were a loss so I left them. I was asked to come back the next day but it was several days before going back.l because I could not handle the stress of how people treat people who are the reason they even have a job to go to everyday in order to put food on their tables. I eventually picked the slacks up. They were clean and the imprint is slightly still there. It was not worth my energy and peace to pursue it further. I decided to pursue the ordeal were it matters and that is in writing this review as well as notifying the better business bureau of the business practices. These foreigners come to this country and set up shop in our neighborhoods, get rich and yet treat us like we are dogs. I refuse! I will not support businesses who do not treat me with dignity and respect. Nor should you. It is the African American dollar that keeps this economy heart beat pumping. They need us, we do not need them! read more
