Yet, I wanted to get other estimates. Trying the "warehouse" companies either they didn't show up or their pricing was definitely on the high side. I finally came to my senses and arranged an estimate with COLEMAN ELECTRIC. The owner (Greg) came over within a couple of days. He was professional, informative, and friendly. He listened to my concerns and presented a plan and generator to power the entire house (GENERAC 24kw). The plans were better than expected. A couple weeks later the generator was installed, inspected, and up and running. ALL of COLEMAN ELECTRIC employees were knowledgeable and informative. I would ask questions throughout the installation which were completely answered. Since then we've had one power outage and the generator worked like a charm! *With my recommendation, I've had 2 neighbors install generators with COLEMAN ELECTRIC. On Mar 5, Steven added an overhead light and 8 puck lights to our office/den closet and linked it with a wall switch just outside the closet. Stephen suggested putting the puck lights in a different place than we had originally considered, which made the puck light fixture almost invisible while providing all the light. On Mar 11, Joe added a wall switch to the other side of the closet and hard-wired three security cameras. Two three-way light switches were mis-wired and there were a number of similar very basic mistakes. They also refused to balance the six ceiling fans that they installed. Although they initially came and fixed their other mistakes as we discovered them, when we discovered additional latent problems, they did not call back and we had to follow-up ourselves repeatedly. At that point, I did not leave a bad review because it was merely an annoyance. When one of the 24 $100 (!) permanent LED can ceiling lights recently went out well within its warranty period, they, as its seller (after not calling back as promised) finally said they would not fix it and I needed to contact the light manufacturer and fix it myself rather than them repairing it as an installed permanent fixture under its product warranty. I finally had to ascertain for myself on a ladder (it was on a vaulted ceiling) that the problem actually was in their wiring rather than the light fixture, and when I called a second time to explain that it was their wiring at fault, she said curtly, "we cannot help you at that address." One may ask what is the point of paying well over $40,000 to hire a professional electrician to wire your home if they will not stand behind their work and repair what they mess up with courtesy? I just hope it does not cause a fire before I can find someone else in to fix it.

My wife found three local companies through Yelp and reached out to them to inquire about cost and estimated time frame for completing the work. Damon was quick to respond to the inquiry through Yelp over the weekend and stated the project sounded like it would fall under their minimum service fee of $173.25. He provided us with the office number in the event that we wanted to go ahead and schedule. My wife called the office on Monday morning and they agreed on a time that afternoon where Damon could come by and look at the project since he was already in our area. Damon was on time and walked through the project with me. We agreed the work could be done the following afternoon. On Tuesday afternoon Damon came by and within 45 minutes or so had everything working properly. He was friendly and efficient. We didn't initially want to spend the money to hire an electrician but figured that in the grand scheme of things the money was well spent because we know it was done correctly, for less than $200.00. We really appreciate the quick response and are very happy that our exterior lights are now set up. The other two companies did respond to our initial response but were unable to conduct the work within our time frame. We will definitely call KD Electric if we have further needs and will refer them to friends in the area!
