Had them come out to install two fans. This is a one person job but two were sent. I asked why and was told the next job needed two people. One guy did all the work. The helper stood there against the wall for an hour and a half, and picked up the empty boxes and took them to the truck. The electrician was verbally telling the helper what he was doing throughout the installation. So we get charged for two electricians for the full time. Not right but the owner did adjust the bill so two stars instead of one. What is it about Lake Tahoe and contractors taking advantage - because they can!And be sure to ask them not to pocket your good switches, dimmers and multi-port wire connectors. It is extremely hard to get them to return phone calls on follow up jobs! Watch out for the travel time expense. They charge $130 per hour so if you are a half an hour away from their office, then you get charged $130 just for them driving. I got charged $1.5 hours for a job that only took 40-45 mins plus the parts and this was the follow up visit to a $1000 job that needed the fan replaced. read more

I could not get any Yelp top four electricians to commit to a date two weeks out to schedule an appointment. I notice my neighbor had used ArcTic Electric for their new construction project. I called them up and spoke with Chris and he was able to schedule me a few days out. I had three ceiling fans to install and the two team members from ArcTic could not have more helpful, knowledgeable and professional. This isn't a review of the Company or it's work. I own a home in Reno and needed work done. Beware if your property is in Reno, the company charges 'travel time' from Stateline. I was quoted 3 hours round trip x 2 technicians x $150 per hour. So, unless $450 ++ extra is included in your budget, don't call Arctic Electricians. read more

My entire electrical connection was ripped out all the way to the power meter by a snow covered falling 25' tree top. The area was completely snowbound and obscured! They moved me up as an emergency, all the power in SLT was out, and they sent two electricians over. They did an assessment and made up a parts list while contacting the power company to remove the meter so repairs could be made. They eventually contacted the power company directly and got permission to remove the meter themselves on an emergency request then the power company arrived anyway. After one full day of extensive repairs my system was ready to be reconnected. Arctic called the power company on their own and within hours after 3 days I had power. The electrician insisted that I call him at home as soon as everything was back to normal! I was down and out in a sea of outages and Arctic Electricians came to the rescue! read more

Local business trying to hire a local business to do a simple job...moving a sign to a different spot. Which wires and everything is already there. Gave him a called because one of my customer told me his great. But. He was just being a straight asshole. And said no. Because it's going to take 4 hours to do and 2 guys. More than $800 dollar to do. Are you kidding me? To move an existing sign to where a sign use to be. An hour job. Thanks for making my day bad. read more

We had power go out in four rooms in a house after plugging in a power tool outside. Checked the circuit breakers and power was still flowing through. We called Arctic, spoke to Chris, described the problem, and he diagnosed the issue over the phone, directed us to the specific outlet that had been tripped (entirely different location than where the power tool was), and told us how to fix it. So, he restored the power to the house in 5 to 10 minutes, remotely, no cost, and very polite and friendly. Awesome! read more

I used Arctic Electric years ago and loved them. They underbid the 2 other bids I had (1800 vs 800) and they did all of the same work for 525. Recently, I asked them by for estimates on a couple of jobs and the electrician they sent says he was there for 2 hours ($200) and I still don't have estimates for the 2 jobs I asked about. The first one was looking at outdoor plugs and I was told that there wasn't any wiring in there and that the conduit was made of landscaping pvc, making it totally useless. The second job was looking at the stove hood to see about installing a plug or whatever so I could install an over the range microwave. We didn't complete the removal of the range hood as I didn't have a microwave to install anyway. He did go upstairs and replace a bad switch on the ceiling fan and I supplied the switch. All of this for $200. I do not recommend them unless you have a clear understanding of the charges and the time it takes to do the estimates. I did send this information with the payment and have not heard back from them nor do i expect to. So, NO ESTIMATE for work needed and CHARGED 200 for the pleasure, NOT. read more
