They are by far the best dentists I have even been to. I don't know what everyone is talking about in their bad reviews, but I have never had a bad experience! Absolutely awful . dentist kissed me on the forehead while i was sobbing from not having enough novicane and being able to feel everything they did to me while i was getting a tooth pulled . they barely give you novicane & are not truthful to you . one time they told me i wasnt born with a protective cap on my tooth and ended up giving me TWO fillings . one time i was suppose to get three teeth removed & ended up getting four removed ! they traumatized me for the rest of my life and i had to switch to a different dentist . read more

I didn't go to another dentist for nearly a decade because of my childhood trauma from them. My prior dentist said I had perfect teeth, and then the next year conveniently all my molars needed fillings. I had no choice because my parents were duped and didn't question anything. What a horror show, these guys ran a good Masshealth scam for years, telling everyone they need all their teeth filled. Filling the room with multiple other patients at the same time. My wife went to Dr. Perlman over 30 years ago and is still traumatized by Perlman. He would yell at her, tell her to shut up, tell her that he was going to tie her down with rope in the closet. What a nightmare this office is! 1) I just moved to the area and took my children there. The dentist totally misdiagnosed my children. I think he was trying to scam us for unneeded dental work. When I called my old dentist he assured me that Dr. Perlman had misdiagnosed my children. 2) The clueless receptionist told me that cavities would not be covered under my Met Life Dental Plan. She later said that she made a mistake, no apology for wasting my time calling the insurance company. 3) Later when the office manager called me back all she could offer was a condescending snicker cementing the fact that this was a horrible practice. Looking for a dentist for my granddaughter but now I remember my why I took my children out of this practice. I took one of my joys there when he had a tiny cavity. They would not let me into the room with him and I insisted I go In or I was going someplace else. They let me in and I sat by my child while they examined him. He needed a filling. I left that office because of Dr Koidin's behaviour. He had a mentally challenged child in the chair who was strapped down and screaming. He yelled at the child to SHUT UP. NEVER NEVER again! I hate this dentist for what they put my son through. My son is only 4 yrs of age and Mr Perlman did not want me in the room to support my son through the procedure. I should have walked out of there when I found out about his policy of restaints and parents or legal guardian can not be in the room to help calm the children. *OBSURD**. These young kids go in and they are left in the hands of strangers with big noisy devices. Who knows what really goes on it there. I yanked my son out of there and did not look back! My children have been with this office for a little over 2 years, and we NEVER had a bad experience. The staff was great, the dentists were fabulous, my children enjoyed their visits every six months until.......earlier this year when my oldest required braces. Everything was good, a plan was developed, a payment plan was put in place...then I was laid off. Our insurance covered 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the remainder. I explained it to the dr as well as the front office staff that we would put the braces on hold until I gained full time employment again. "No problem" I was told. 5 months later I became employed once again...I called the office and stated that we were ready to have the procedure continue. I was then told by the "office manager" that the down payment had gone from 500.00 to 1100.00, may I also add that our portion was 2500.00. When I refused and requested my son's records, I was given an attitude and asked "why" (Because I pay for dental insurance and I have the right to do whatever I WANT, that's why) I then proceeded to tell the "office manager" that I would be picking up the records on their next cleaning which was 2 weeks away. She insisted that they could "mail" the records to the new dentist...why the persistence? So to make a long story short, the day of their cleaning my son's records were not ready and the molding of his teeth had been "misplaced" REALLY!?!? I was given a bigger attitude when I called to find out what would happen at this point because we had paid for them..."oh you can make an appt and we will have them for you in a week" Here we are 10 days later and we have yet to have the molds. The excuse this time was, the "lab worker" was not able to get them because of the holiday and the blizzard. Our new Ortho warned us that the office would "misplace" records and/or molds and low and behold that's exactly what happened. My children will NOT return to this office. read more

I was referred to this office by a friend and so far so good. I have THREE toddlers and they took all three at the same time and everybody behaved (was distracted) while their teeth were cleaned. All the kids loved the "treasure chest" of silly toys, stickers & got their choice of toothbrush. They did great a job handling my kids & no issues with "office management'. One of the twins had some tooth trauma & the doctor explained all of our options up front. Looking forward to more good visits! read more

The hygienists and assistants always put my son at ease and I totally agree with their philosophy. Judging by the mixed reviews it looks like not much has changed here from 25 years ago... I was a patient here when I was young (not by choice obviously - I was a child)... It was so horrific that till this day I despise the dentist, even though I have come across some wonderful dentists over the years but I still have that fear in the back of my head. Some of my experiences there I relived while I was reading their reviews... As a pediatric patient 25 years ago I experience being strapped down to the chair, my parents not being allowing in the room where they provided so called care... It seemed as I was there every month to have another tooth filled when my parents did everything they could to care for my teeth... (I remember my mother questioning the doctor if this was normal to have so many cavities- they reassured my mother it was) - Bull shit they were probably ripping off my naive immigrant mother that lacked English and knowledge of the area... The doctor would smile to my mother, take me in the back room strap me down in the chair, put a mental thing on my mouth to keep my mouth open, then the doctor would pick up the phone and be talking on the phone for the entire procedure while working... VERY PROFESSIONAL!... Not to mention he was so busy talking on the phone that one time the cavity he was filling fell out of the tooth fell down the throat I began to choke and I couldn't say anything because my mouth was wired open, I began to show signs that I was choking that's when the nurse or assistant realized somethings wrong then I ended up throwing up all over them, then the doctor decided maybe he should hang up the phone since he had to go change... HORRIBLE just HORRIBLE... I would not want anyone or anyones child to experience the experience I had with this dentist. I cant even believe these people are still functioning you would think that after this many years of horrific practice the state would have revoked their licenses! I am writing this because I was curious about whether or not any other kids were creeped out by Dr Pearlman and Koidin. I went to these dentists as a child, and am looking for a new dentist for my soon to be stepdaughter. I have a memory of being in those creepy orange chairs in the back room (where they don't allow parents, and you can literally see the dental work of all other patients, talk about traumatic!) when I was about 10 or 12. I had this flannel type shirt that I really loved from Express. The doctor complimented my shirt which was fine, and asked me where I got it. I answered, and he proceeded to grab the collar of the back of my shirt and then look down it to see the tag I guess? I remember just feeling very uncomfortable, even violated in a way. I just feel it was totally inappropriate, and it's something that has stuck with me for over 20 years. When I drive my that orange door now as an adult, I still get that anxious, uneasy feeling. Do yourself a favor and go to Alegre Dental Center right down the street. They treat all ages and are wonderful! read more

I went to Dr. Pearlman & Dr. Koidin since I was little. They are always so nice and very thorough! As a child I was never scared to visit the dentist because they always treated me so great. I now bring my two children to them even though we live in CA. When we are in Boston for Xmas - I make it a point to have my children's teeth checked and cleaned by them. Dr. Perlman & Dr. Kiodin are one of the best dentist offices. They both work together with the children well. They are very caring. I have 10 children and have been to other offices in the past and never found a dentist office like this one. Everyone in the office always welcomes you like if you are walking into your own families home. They always make the kids comfortable being there. They are both angels to be working with kids and also kids with special needs. I don't know how they do it but I am blessed to have two dentist that care so much for my children and their needs. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I live about 25 minutes from the office but well worth the ride. I can trust my kids will have the best care. I would prefer to go to Dr Perlman & kiodin office over children's hospital. The care is so much better at their office. read more

Do not use this dentist!!!! I started taking my daughter to this dentist when she was 4 years old, my first visit was awful. Dr. Koidin told me she had several cavitites and need a mini root canal!! My daughter never had cany and brushed like she is supposed to. He told me I did nothing wrong she has soft teeth. So I was horrified and kept questioning myself if this is possible. They both made me beleive it was very common. So over the next several years she had 11 cavities and 2 root canals!!! And paid alot of extra money out of my pocket cause it only covers so much. When she started a new school in Danvers I decided to switch dentists becasue it was easier for me to take her after school. Since she has been at the new dentist, there has not been one cavitie. In August of this year my daughter some how cracked one of her 12 year molar on the bottom, and was missing a piece of tooth on the inside. I could not get an appointment right away at her current dentist, so I decided to see if Pearlman and Koidin could. When I called them they got her in within a week but wanted her dental records. So Ibrought all her records in, for what I was not sure. It was a Monday moring at 9am. Not 5 minutes after they called her in, I was called to the back because Dr. Perlman wanted to see me, he came out and his exact words where "her teeth are a mess and she has cavities all under her fillings and she needs a tooth pulled in the front it is to crowded and I have to put a silver cap on her tooth" I said that is impossible you did all that work on her teeth, and the exrays where from last year!!! He said well, Im going to pull new exrays! So as I am waiting for this a women named Jill who is Dr. Koidin's wife, came and showed me this paper work of my dental plan and how much I had left for the year. Oh I need to book three appoitments right away and had no idea why!!! When I started question her about what needs to be done she got rude and fustrated with me and went in to the dentist. Dr. Pearlman came back and said he is going to cap her tooth and pull the other one. So now im in the waiting room crying do not know what the heck just happened!!! My daughter comes out and they call me back and tell me dont worry everything will be fine and they will send me a plan in the mail with all the details and pricing. So 4 days had gone by and nothing so I called JILL and she was so rude to me, she said she sent it and I told her I want to know what is going to be done on my daughters teeth. She did not like what I had to say and hung up on me. When I got the paper work, it stated that she had 5 cavities 3 being adult molars that had been sealed by her other dentist and two baby teeth. So I called the other dentist and told her what he told me, she said she backs up her sealants 100% and would be happy to look at her and let me know. So I went back to Perlman and Koidin to pick up my xrays that where never showed to me, and Jill question why I wanted them. told her they are mine and I have every right to do so. I took her to her other dentist and she brought me in there with her. She said first of all the exrays where labeled wrong left was the right and right was left. Nice!! Then she went through all her teeth and to my suprise there is not ONE CAVITIE!!!!! She showed me everytooth and showed me what a cavitie would look like. I was sick to my stomach!!! She also said she would have never pulled that tooth out it was not time to do so. So now the other tooth on the other side has to come out. So basically I now wonder did my daughter really have 11 cavities and need 2 root canals!!! How dare you tell me this garbage and the thought that you where going to drill 5 teeth that did not need to!!! Oh and buy the way her cap FELL OFF Friday night, and there is barley a tooth left. So now she has to have a 12 year molar pulled!!! Don't ever go to the dentist and not question what is bieng done in detail!!!! It is your RIGHT!!!!! read more

I have to say I am applaud by the non-professionalism of Dr. Perlman. I changed dentists to a closer one to where I live. I needed to bring my 8 year old to a pediatric dentist because she broke her tooth so I decided to go back to Perlman & Koidin whom I switched from. No problem with being seen quickly. However, my daughter started crying hysterically because she was scared thinking she needed something major done to the tooth. Dr. Perlman had the audacity to say to me and I quote, " I am 71 years old, I do not need to deal with kids that are rude and fresh and won't cooperate". His tone was awful and only made my daughter cry even more. Finally got her to calm down, he was able to do what he needed. Thanked me for helping, thanked her for "behaving". As we're leaving he asked if I was going to be coming back or seeing her now new dentist. I told him I wasn't sure, she does need an orthodontist eval but I'm going to talk to her Dr. first. Again, with the nasty attitude, "well we do ortho here, I'm not going to do the back and forth thing, either you come or you don't". At that point I told him I'm all set and left. Never had a problem with Koidin he's always pleasant. But Perlman needs to take his 71-year old ass and retire!!! If you don't have the patience to deal with crying kids then you're in the wrong business. I will NEVER bring my kids back there even if they were the last dentist on earth. I have never been spoken to like that and I refuse to have my child spoken to like that. And last time I checked being scared and crying no isn't rude or fresh!! read more

The office staff here does not know what they are doing. I was checking out and asked to wait so the lady behind the desk could answer her cell phone from her daughter. Not ok at work. I have asked to only have fluoride done once a year but after our appointment this summer I was charged for their second fluoride treatment this year - an extra $70 for two kids. I did have some questions about my bill but trying to get a hold of the office manager was almost impossible to get on the phone, took me five tries to get her to call me back. They did resolve my billing question. I was not happy about the fact my mildly autistic was very upset and could hear him screaming from the lobby - we were not allowed to go back and try to calm him down. Dr. Perman and Dr. Koidin are good dentist but they need better staff. They are losing business because of the ladies running the office. They are all very short and a bit rude. They do not explain any billing questions or what expected cost will be. We have been driving over an hour to keep the kids here but for the way we have been treated and for the rudeness of the staff - no thank you. read more
