Since I can't leave a review at my local location...Drivetime of Wilmington NC, I'll do it here on the Conway page! In March I went to my local Drivetime after being approved online. I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorento which drove excellent for three months. In that time, Drivetime was calling and texting me consistently to make sure I did all the administrative work including my registration etc. And with all these calls, my salesperson and his manager consistently told me to call if there were ever any issues. On our family vacation in June, the Kia shut off on the side of I95. I made it to a Meineke where we found out that the engine was cooked. BUT I had the Silver Rock warranty! They said go ahead and rent a car, finish your vacation, we'll pay $30 a day for your rental it will be fine! Turns out this was actually a full Kia recall on the engine and Silver Rock and Drivetime wouldn't cover a single penny of the repair or rental reimbursement. Here, Kia stepped in and replaced the full engine for free in two weeks, and covered some of the rental reimbursement. During this time, Drivetime wanted nothing to do with me. They didn't return my calls and any time I did get someone on the phone, they couldn't wait to get off! Fastforward to late July and August, two weeks after engine replacement the check engine light is on. NOW, Kia says it's the exhaust manifold catalytic converter! and it's a $2500 repair! To summarize, I bought this used car from Drivetime that now required a full engine replacement (and this recall wasn't listed at time of purchase with Drivetime, nor was it on any paperwork.) Now, I've been making $450 of car payments every month for a total lemon. And Drivetime has absolved themselves of all responsibility stating it's a Kia problem. If anything, I'd just like to trade the car in to get something else but according to them, I can't do that for a year with my financing. I've called several times, talked to a sales agent and the manager is supposed to call me back any minute....lol. Not holding my breath. I understand that I bought a used car but, as someone with a decade of sales experience, and years in local government customer service, this has been a joke. Drivetime Wilmington pushes you off the lot, they make their commission, and it's see ya later idiot! I would never recommend Drivetime to my friends, family, or my worst enemy. They will tell you that you can cancel it but they will not refigure the payment.. even though I asked them about if it would be refigured while at the dealership. Waste of time. Drove three hours to trade in a vehicle towards a used car. Drivetime didn't offer any option for the loan AND they don't let you use more than 4,000 in credit. They should make it clear that they're only interested in squeezing whatever resale out of your car they can and aren't interested in helping you with financing. It sure was a long drive back home with an extra pointless 370 miles and $60 of wasted gas for them to not believe that I'd pay off their loan. Fuck you Drivetime! They checked my credit and said I had a Plus credit rating my down payment was about $3,500 which was okay I didn't mind that but then they told me that my monthly payment was going to be $500 a month or is they stated $250 bi-weekly. I have not personally dealt with DriveTime, but I've had several friends of mine that have. I can not believe the interest rates they charge. I believe they take full advantage of people. I have included an agreement that was prepared by DT. I've looked up the value of this 2013 Chrysler with a local bank using the VIN # and the value of this car was 5700.00. By the time the single young mother of three pays for this car, she will be paying 29,000.00. This is insane. Again, this is not the only person that I know of that have dealt with DriveTime and has had the same experience. And there is know telling how many other people they have done this too. Everyone should read these agreements and realize what they're getting themselves into. read more

Ok so heres my deal Drivetime is a bunch of crooks. I just moved to SC and two paid for cars diedwithin a week. Had to get a car quickly and on a bad decison went to Drivetime. So a 9000 car that before it was everything was done the car jump3d to 13500. They said I had to get the Gap insurance and then some extended warranty and some GPS tracking system. So they made my payment date to be 10 days after I took the car off the lot. At the time no big deal, but since then job changed paydates don't line up as well. Have tired working a pay date change they are unwill to work with me. Call everytime to tell them what date I can pay and they still call everyday until the payment is made. Now I am not talking like I am gonna be 20 days late, I need like five days and the payment is always made in full. Never a partial. Now does Drivetime want to work with me? No they don't they have their Collections Department call and make threats demand post dated payments and want me to promose my soul to them. So here is the deal. DO NOT GO TO DRIVETIME. LEAVE THEM ALONE THEY ARE VULTURES AND PREY ON PEOPLE IN NEED. THEIR INTERESTS RATES ARE BORDERLINE CRIMINAL AND THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. If I could this place would get a negative rating because they are not there for their customers. I had my car stolen in January of this year and they have GPS on them and the police called them the same day about turning it on and talked to one person in their headquarters and they told the police they could not do it for 48hours. Then I talked to someone that Friday and they said it should have been turn on that day. They founded my car in another state and I am still waiting to get it back. Called drive time and talked about what they could do for their customer and they told me nothing they can do. Even though I have paid for a car I don't have in my present. Get to the red light and a truck from drive times employee parking area get right behind me started laying on the horn while the light was red I mean really laying in the horn while traffic is crossing in front of us. PLEASE READ!! About a year ago after seperating from my husband I really needed a vehicle as all of the ones we had were in his name. I was desperate and with bad credit I was limited in choices. I put 1800 down on a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander low miles thought it was a great deal. Payments were high almost 475 a month but felt I didn't have a choice. This is the WORST vehicle I've ever had in my life. It doesn't even start and they said the battery was fine I literally have to jump my vehicle every time I get in the car and carry a jump box with me. All of the vehicles are crap! My suggestion to you is buy a vehicle out right with your down payment and build your credit and savings to get a better vehicle from a reputable dealership!! read more

And the vehicles weren't close to excellent condition either. Run away fast. I only gave it one star because the yelp app makes you pick one. If I had a choice it would get a negative ten stars. Where do I begin? Well a one star because I can't go any lower. It wasn't all completely bad, just mostly and in general. The woman who helped me find the car I want and get all the paperwork started was amazing! I told her what I was looking for and she helped me find it. Now, on to everyone else. I went in around 10-ish, and I didn't leave until almost 6. Yeah, I know right?! The "finance manager"......well I have nothing nice to say about the little twerp. And after everything was filled out and approved, I'll say pretty close to 2 o'clock, it was time to sign the papers. Pretty quick and harmless, right? No, it took forever for someone to get off their rear and get to a computer so that I could electronically sign the papers. So, basically if you have bad credit and you really need a car but, you can't get approved anywhere else......go there. I drove two hours to look at a car after speaking with a rep at the Conway, SC location the week before. He informed me my down payment would not be higher than $500 after giving him all of mine and the co-signers information . When I arrived David was not even there he had taken the day off and another rep started to help me . While I was trying to explain to her what David had told me she informed me without even looking up my information that it is very doubtful my down payment would be lower than $500. I assure you I would have never driven 2 hours if I would have known this. I ended up choosing a vehicle that she stated had to have a $800 down payment . I told her there was no way I could do that . She then suggested me and my co signer change our information to being at the same address and getting my insurance company along with the co signers bank address to the same address in order to be able to pay a down payment of $600 . After doing all of that and making SEVERAL phone calls she then informed me my down payment COULD NOT be less than $700. HORRIBLE customer service ! She also continued to push all of the extras you all offer ! As If me saying NO was not an option ! I now had a car that is financed for 12, 985 - after looking the vehicle up I now see that it isn't even worth $6500 !!!!! So I will end up paying ATLEAST 16, 000 for a car that is worth a third of this ! I feel completely violated and taken advantage of . Decent cars to choose from. They base paymets off of your pay stub not credit scores.they show you cars that they can get in your price range while also trying to make sure it's a brand you will like. Once you have the cars you like you can drive them. They do kinda seem to rush the process a bit and try and sway you one way or the other,but they aren't overly pushy and will show you what you want and let you drive them.they stepped away for 15 minutes or so and let us talk about it by our selves which was nice and I will say they have a very nice warranty package wich I am very impressed with for used cars,and even tho the payments were a bit higher than I wanted due to not having a credit history,they worked with me a bit and with the warranty it was worth it. great down payment program as well. They definatly have good programs geared twords you being a successful newer used car owner. Plus you have 5 days to return it if you change your mind as long as you haven't drove it more than 300 miles.I would certainly recommend drive time to people with bad credit or no credit history.
