We bought my wife a car on a Friday and there were no nicks or chips on the hood. It is a red car and so it would've been very obvious and easy to see when we bought it. On Saturday, we went to the Drive & Shine for a car wash. After the car wash, we drove home, which is about 4 miles away. The next day she noticed about 10 chips in the hood. I drove the back the following day and talked to a manager. Five days later, he called me back and said they were not at fault. Even when a company has sold their obligated by law to recognize gift certificates gift cards previously purchased. I reached out to drive and shine and they refused, they refused to compensate me in anyway. Should be also noted that they manicure their Google reviews, they pay a third outside party if you leave a negative review will try and bribe you to remove the bad review and place a good review place. On January 24,2026 I visited the Drive & Shine car wash in Mishawaka, Indiana, and paid $20 for a car wash. While my vehicle was inside the wash, the automated scrubbing brushes moved past my wheels and forcefully knocked my front bumper off during the wash cycle. I immediately notified staff on site. Management claimed the damage was pre-existing, which is false. Prior to entering the car wash, my bumper was fully attached with no looseness, damage, or warning indicators. The bumper was only damaged after the vehicle entered their wash and was impacted by their equipment. The business stated that their car wash "has not caused damage in 20 years," and used that claim as justification to deny responsibility. However, no proof of pre-existing damage was provided to me, and no inspection was performed before my vehicle entered the wash. The damage occurred during normal operation of their equipment. This incident indicates either equipment malfunction, improper brush pressure, or failure to safely guide the vehicle through the wash system. As the damage happened while my vehicle was under their control, I believe Drive & Shine is responsible for the repairs. I am requesting that Drive & Shine: 1. Accept responsibility for the damage caused by their car wash equipment 2. Cover the cost of repairing my bumper 3. I get oil changes here occasionally. Generally service is pretty good- they do try the ole " let me show you the bubbles in your differential fluid! And its tan...it needs replaced!! I paid $25 dollars for the "Platinum Wash." Going through the car wash was easy. The machine seemed to lather and rinse fairly well. Problem....... the wheels still came out grimey and dirty. The bugs on the front of the vehicle did not get totally removed. I am a fairly reasonable person, and I am willing to let some things go, but for $25, this wash was really only a $15 dollar wash at best. I called to set up an appointment and got quoted $280 for my size vehicle. They let me know that some other charges may come up based on the state of my vehicle. When I got to the place, I was quoted over $600 for an interior clean!!! Reasons quoted are dog hair and sand. Now I get it, but it's not $600+ worth of work!! Ridiculous waste of my time and the friend who was to bring me back home while they worked on it. I took that business card of the interior cleaner and trashed it in the building. Never going to get that service! Who cares what his name was. The quick interior clean for $15($30without a membership plan) was enough to get 80%+ of the dirt and grime out of my car. They even let me go back through a second time for free to finish up, since they couldn't get the trunk before I was off the conveyor belt. I went through again and they did it all again. Wipe down, glass cleaned, tires shined, vacuumed out....Nice young folk who do a decent job! I came out of there with a 90%+ clean vehicle that only needed a few touch ups to look brand new. I went for a deluxe oil change, which was expressed over the phone to include a car wash and a interior detail for 54.99. Great. Sounded like a good deal. Then I asked how my coolant seemed bc my car smelled a little hot the other day & he said it's a little low for 5$ I'll top it off. I get my bill and I'm charged $140 which is clearly outrageous. They changed an additional filter without my approval, charge me 22 for lube, a quart of oil that they never informed me about, and they just flat out charged me for services without my approval. It should have been 54.99 ( interior detail and wash) + 20 + 5 =80 plus tax They had me pull forward because the technician that obviously charged me for more than I agreed to was getting frustrated & the manager comes to my car. The manager said I could keep my car wash and he'd do me the favor of a interior detail for free bc apparently it wasn't supposed to be included, but then after realized after my first refund that I was still spending over $110 which still doesn't seem correct at all. I simply asked him to just charge me for the basic oil change and to just let me leave because at this point he was being argumentative with me. He takes out the 29.99 filter and puts in my dirty one (which was the only up-charge I was okay with). Just total nonsense and I let him bc he asked if he should just put the dirty one back in, and I was flat out fed up. I left upset and he didn't care, he took back my car wash voucher, I'm pretty sure I'm still paying at least 60 and no detail or wash. Sooo yes they did take advantage of me and I still feel deserving of money back. We will see what my credit card statement reflects in a couple days. 4-1-2021 I have moved on from Drive and Shine. I have told my friends and family to go elsewhere. When I first started with D&S they where polite and helpful. Overtime the nice people left and the rude people were hired in. I now save over $600 dollars a year. The new place I go to now, I do not have water spots on my whole car like I use to get from D&S and I don't deal with rude management.
