In addition, they sell several different types of ice cream sandwiches and my favorite chocolate and strawberry dipped ice cream cones. If you prefer an ice cream sundae with either strawberry, caramel or chocolate sauce on it they have coolers filled with them also. Of course they have their regular soft serve ice cream and also some hard ice cream with all the toppings you can imagine. They offer a special soft serve ice cream weekly and I heard that their cold brew ice cream is not to be missed! There used to be a Piu Bello in isla Verde/San Juan that we frequented on biz trips there. Turns out this place is not related. It's an independent that has been in this location about a year. But I was curious about the name. I looked it up and Piu means in Italian more or extra. That's a fitting description of the gelato here -- which is beyond all expectations and absolutely delicious. I've always known that there is less fat and calories in gelato than in ice cream. But even if that were not true, I wouldn't care. This gelato is so creamy and rich; it's the definition of sinful. And more than worth every damn calorie! Before deciding what to get, I tried their coffee gelato (very good) and one other. I chose to get a small cup with coconut and chocolate sorbet. I loved them both. The chocolate was like eating dark chocolate ganache. And it went well with the coconut -- which had small bits of actual coconut in it. My husband got their passion fruit gelato -- a medium cup sized portion. And our friends shared the dulce de leche with extra caramel in it. This really was some of the best gelato I've eaten in a very, very long time (and I'm old!). Do I wish I lived closer? Yes. Am I sort of glad I don't? Yes. They are tik tok famous for the viral 3D ice cream poppz and their real fruit ice cream. After wondering around the shop snapping photos, Vanessa, the dessert expert on duty, helped me make my decision. Their entire menu is home made. But I was there for one thing in particular. The dragon fruit ice cream! This and a few other flavors such as mango, coconut, pineapple and kiwi are all made with 100% real fruit. Living up to the hype, it was delicious! The ice cream came in the skin of the dragon fruit, had perfect coloring and the right amount of sweetness. Talk about instagram worthy! The portion was very generous.
