I've been a loyal drip customer for many years and I have never experienced the horrible service I witnessed tonight on November 26th. My coworker went in to get us some chai teas at 7:30pm and was informed by one of your employees that we could not receive any drinks made over the counter because apparently you all hadn't had any customers for an hour and so your employees took it upon themselves to shut down the counter and only serve cold brews but they stated we were more than welcome to sit inside. It doesn't make any sense to keep a place open and not serve any other drinks on the menu and not to mention you all close at 10pm. To turn away customers two hours and thirty minutes prior to closing is highly unprofessional and false advertising. This place is slipping! read more

Amazing, high quality coffee shop. I have only tried one of their pour over medium roasts and it was fantastic, but they have many other options. They take their time making it, pouring half the water over the grounds and letting it filter through and then pouring the rest of the water (about a 5 minute process or so). So if you are in a rush, you might want to order something quicker like a latte or cold brew. The blueberry gluten free muffin was one of the best muffins I've ever had. This has instantly become my go-to coffee spot. Excited to try their cold brew next! read more

My absolute favorite place in Columbia, if I could only ever go to one coffee shop again I would be completely ecstatic going to Drip! They have a delicious homemade honey vanilla syrup that tastes amazing in any drink you could get. The matcha latte and vanilla latte are my two favorite drinks. Skip if there's a line. Got an $8 iced chai tea today with oat milk and it came out hot with no milk. Asked them to remake it and they made it cold with again no milk. Waited a long time between each remake and we also got a sparkling water that didn't come out with our order and we had to ask for it twice. So crowded that we can't even get to the counter to ask someone about our order. Just down the hill from the eastern end of the campus of USC-Columbia in 5 Points, Drip has some very good things to eat, all fixed on the spot. My favorite has pancetta, cheese, jam with some condiments; I add the optional fried egg. The hot egg complements the other ingredients beautifully. To the main focus: coffee. In the form of whole beans, Drip carries many varietals, from Kenya and Ethiopia, to Hawaii and Colombia. Likewise, there are are several ground standards and a coffee of the day. They make the drink in all the standard configurations: latte, macchiato, espresso, Americano, etc. All the drinks I've had are solid, if not exceptional. Chai and other teas are also served, as well as smoothies. Drip has pastries too. The baristas are skilled and efficient, taking the time to make your drink properly. They are not slow by any means. They'll bring your order to your table, Tables can be hard to get when school is in session - students park at two/four tops with their Macs. To enjoy their excellent service to the max, pick your time strategically. A well concealed, unadvertised room (with additional seating farther back,) has an attractive vinyl records section. Although I'm not familiar with some of the performers, the selection seems pretty large to me. I have enjoyed Drip immensely over the last 8 years. I would recommend Drip enthusiastically. read more

I am not a regular Yelp poster, but this place was worth my taking the time to give them my feedback. Visiting from CA for a couple of days, we went to Drip for an early morning cuppa. The experience was nothing less than perfect: Great service with smiling faces. Great coffee. Perfect scones: texture, flavor, degree of sweetness (barely noticeable). Very good matcha lavender lemonade (great flavor intensity and balance, but too sweet for my taste). And the icing on the cake: they have a dispenser/printer of short stories - well written, fun, entertaining. A jewel of a place! read more

I usually love coming to Drip but it seems to have gone downhill lately. There's always been a lack of gluten free baked goods when coming in anytime after 12:00pm (hard to come in before when I was a student but now I work full-time...) and i've had conversations with employees before and they always just give me a shrug and say "come in earlier", but it's made it worse when I came in after work earlier this week and asked for an iced salted caramel latte because it was a hard week and wanted a treat and what I got was a shitty latte that tasted like it was made with sea water. It was monumentally disappointing considering how I've had great coffees here before but the service was especially crappy and I don't think I'll be coming in again anytime soon read more

We tried the Blend #46 and Ecuador, I liked the Blend #46 better. I tasted the hint of dark chocolate at the end of the flavor more. I loved the fact that they gave you your own personal pot of coffee! It was enough for 2 cups which is definitely it considering the price!! Space wise, there was plenty of seating. The front room has 5-6 tables, but there's a whole back area as well! The only thing I didn't like was the fact there were no windows in the back room, so it felt a little closed off for me to study in. We ended up sitting at the bay window in the front. Great lighting, but it was dirty and there seemed to be a lot of dead flies in the window area because of the plants. They weren't flying over to me, but I had to force myself not to look over because I'd get kind of grossed out. I think that area needs a good clean. read more

I saw this place early one morning while walking the downtown area. It was before sunrise and the posted hours said Opens at 7am. I stopped in before departing for the airport. What a fun, eclectic, gem of a coffee shop. The menu is wonderful and the coffee is the real deal! I tried an iced caramel macchiato and it was delicious! The staff is so friendly and kind. I saw them hugging clients so this is obviously the place people love. They also have a Short Edition device. It is sponsored by the local library and you can choose a 1, 3 or 5 minute short story print out. Such a cool way to encourage people to read!!! These should be everywhere!! read more

Went after my sons graduation for a light breakfast and coffee. We got the honey habenero latte, the Vader (heavy on the espresso), lavender matcha, rose cardamom latte for our drinks! All were delicious according to my guests! My favorite is the honey habenero latte! We had the peach jam French toast, Nutella French toast both were the right combination of light and airy! The flavors especially peach was just delightful! We also got the smoked cheddar pancetta sandwich with garlic aioli.... oMG it was served on cinnamon raisin bread that was toasted just right!! Have been here a few times and this is one of my favorite shops in Columbia. The customer service has been great each visit. My personal favorite is the Vanilla Bourbon Latte. I took my sister a few times and this is her favorite shop. Her personal favorite is the Chai Latte. I had the Pancetta on Raisin bread and it was pretty good. This is such a great coffee shop to visit while down in Five Points! Menu and selection is wonderful and doesn't leave you wanting for anything. The line can be a tad bit long on certain days and in turn, getting a seat can be a little difficult due to how busy it can get. However, there's ample seating and spots open up quickly. I loved the atmosphere! It had a trendy bar type of vibe but coffee instead. People working on their computers at the bar and a massive record collection to shop through in the back. The coffee was delicious as well. I got a honey vanilla iced latte and my boyfriend got the vanilla sweet cream cold brew and both were great. My wife and I went here for coffee the other day. Excellent coffee menu, you could hardly ask for more. The staff was helpful and polite as well. We got breakfast there and that was okay, which is what is stopping the five stars. I've had better from small cafes, but I've also had worse. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I'd eat it if I was there for longer than a cup of coffee. The prices for food and coffee however, is outstanding! Drip is certainly a coffeeshop I can get behind! I needed a spot for both a meeting and to get some work done. It was great for both. First of all, there is plenty of seating all around including the bar area, tables inside (don't miss the back room by the record shop!), and even outside on the patio. Next, there is more than just beverages! In fact, there is a large menu of eats ranging from biscuits and toast, to doughnuts and cookies. I opted for a breakfast biscuit with mozzarella, egg, and red pepper. It was super cheap, very filling, and delish. Finally, their coffee is dang good! I got an espresso macchiato and it was perfectly prepared. Overall, I found service pretty friendly. More importantly, the wifi was strong and outlets accessible. I also easily found metered street parking right outside, but do not forget to pay the meter or else a ticket will surely be yours! read more
