The place has two floors, and I could barely walk around on the second. I liked the beach theme, but I was not in a rush to return. More recently, I was meeting two buddies there, again in a weekend evening, but it was not busy at all! There was a fantastic DJ mix on, and since we were one of only a few parties in there, the bartender was talking with us and she was really friendly. We had around of drinks which were fine, but the star of the show?? THE SUSHI. After 9:00 pm they have a late night sushi happy hour, where all of the rolls are $2 off. I had the Floridian, Tsunami, and avocado rolls. Every single bite was fantastic, I was so surprised. I was not expecting to enjoy sushi like this at this bar. Between the three, it's hard to choose a favorite. But if you ever go, try the sushi. You won't regret it. The place also has some photo ops, which is cool.

The staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating during such a meaningful occasion. They graciously honored his widow's request to bring a collection of tiki glasses so that each guest could choose a favorite to use and then take home as a remembrance. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the tropical drinks were exceptionally generous--so strong, in fact, that we eventually had to ask the bartenders to go a little easier on us! Royal Sands provided a festive, welcoming setting in which we could celebrate our friend's life exactly as he would have wanted.

The aesthetic and decor throughout the hotel are top-notch, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The attached restaurant and bar were also a highlight. Great atmosphere, good drinks, and really good food. It's nice being able to have everything right there without having to leave the hotel. The room itself was very comfortable and nicely appointed. One thing I found a little odd was that I had originally booked a Deluxe King but was upgraded to an Executive King. My friends had the Deluxe King, and honestly, I thought their room was nicer than mine. From what I could tell, the primary difference with the Executive was the additional office/workspace. If you're deciding between the two, I'd probably save the money and stick with the Deluxe. The rooms are also advertised as having heated bathroom floors. I tried several times to get mine working and couldn't. It wasn't a major issue and certainly didn't ruin the stay, but it was a little disappointing since it was something I was looking forward to. One other note: I would not recommend parking across the street at 11 Dupont Circle. The garage is extremely small and difficult to maneuver in and out of, especially with a larger vehicle. Overall, I'd definitely recommend The DuPont Circle Hotel if you're visiting DC and want a quieter, more relaxed vibe while still being in a great part of the city. I'd happily stay here again.

My dining experience was absolutely fabulous. Service was exceptional and I liked how the head chef came out to check on us. On this particular day (Wednesday), a salad and prime rib buffet was available, as well as a regular menu. We opted for the buffet, which also came with an absolutely delicious cream of chicken soup. I loved all the flavorful salad condiment options, including pickled onions and multiple types of nuts. The prime rib was tender and delicious. They had cheesecake as a dessert. At the end of lunch, they served a most excellent coffee. I loved how they did it the British way, pouring cream in the cup before pouring in the coffee. Coffee is provided in a li'l coffee pot for each person, with plenty of coffee for refills. On special occasions, such as Chinese (Lunar) New Year, they have more elaborate meals. Frequently, the NPC has pressers where people in the news come and talk and answer questions from the audience. The day I was here, Robert Rand, author of The Menendez Murders and Anamaria Baralt, a cousin of the Menendez brothers came and spoke about the case.
