Outside bar area.

It was an interesting mix of people on a summer Saturday night. I was here for my high school reunion, and the servers were hustling, doing their very best to keep our drinks coming. After a while, we moved to the outside bar area and I ordered a glass of wine...$19 later (YES $19) I switched to plain old diet coke for the rest of the night. The outside DJ was great and playing a mash up of old school and new songs, probably because of us reunion old farts in the house, ha! It was a fun place to have a party, and it was definitely easier to talk outside.

Don't let the bad reviews fool you. Me and my BFF have been there more than a couple of times, ages 44+ and everyone there, starting from the entrance when they check your ID, they all are very welcoming and respectful people. I don't think they need to be friendly bc people most of the time don't respect any boundaries, they keep it very professional and the place has a nice environment. Go and have fun!

This establishment is not following guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Inside, social distancing or mask wearing is not being enforced. Nobody at all is wearing a mask except employees. It's unbelievable, irresponsible, and quite selfish. Update to the owner: Here's proof I was there! Good try though! Since you've been closed should I then dispute the charges to my bank since they're fraudulent?

If you need help, flag someone down, maybe we can figure it out." What? We figured out how to order and start a tab. Every time someone came to drop something at our table, they were clearly confused about who got what and what was what. Never even talked to us or greeted us except to mumble what the item was they were delivering. Off putting. And the new menu is awful. Easily the worst food we've had in a while. They used to have such a great menu-used to love coming for cocktails and apps and listen to some music. Drinks are still solid, but menu is tiny, with food that just didn't taste good. Music wasn't great either, and way too loud. We wanted to listen to music, but we also wanted to chat over dinner and that was practically impossible. We gave up and went somewhere else for dessert. Hopefully they figure out their concept quickly and work all the kinks out. We'll be finding somewhere else for live music unfortunately.

The quaint theater doesn't really have a "bad" seat in the house! They have programming that spans improv, musicals, classic plays, children's theatre, educational concerts, a capella, etc. They also have a performing arts school in which my daughter has taken classes and summer camps at. One star off because I wish they would do more accessible tickets e.g. rush tickets or lotteries. One of shows of the children from the school of the performing arts was, like, $20/person. Also, the Play that Goes Wrong was $50. I can see a Broadway in Chicago show for that price if you go about it utilizing the proper channels. I do not utilize the bar during shows, but they sell snacks, which are not allowed in the theater, and drinks, which are allowed in the theater.

I think if they were a stand alone building, the parking would not be as awful. After you park, they have two lines going into the building. One is general admission and the other is VIP. General admission was on the left and VIP was on the right. They are not labeled. VIP just means that you sit closer to the stage. Seats are like first come first serve. Btw when it is busier, they have people sitting in front of you at each table. They fill each table to the max. In general, I would recommend lining up at least 30-40 mins before the show begins, for better seating. After you sit down, you have to order two items per person. We just ordered two drinks each. It's kind of an asinine rule but I guess that's how they make their money. We ordered food in the past. Ever since then, we just grab food nearby before coming. Food was okay here. The drinks are not bad, the glasses are a good size so you can sip on it throughout the show. Service was good, although it could be better. It took awhile to receive our drinks. Depending on the comedian, you can get a free picture or you have to pay for one. Overall, it's like a 3.5 experience but 5 stars for the comedian. Meh, I'll give it 4 stars.

Parking was in an issue the place is small their stairs but there's also an elevator which I like the fact that it is small because it's more intimate that way and the comedian can actually interact with the audience. We didn't really try the food but there is a two drink minimum or an order of food so we just did two drinks it's a bit pricey so just need to expect that. The service was great the our server was always there checking up on us and asking what we needed so that's also a good thing. Will definitely come back and see more shows here. Happy watching!

I assumed the food was going to be good. And it was, I was burgered out at the time so I got their Mac & cheese while my hubby got one of their burgers. If you read my Yelp on the original location, you'll learn I was quite impressed with the unique qualities of the bread and circuses therein. THIS store, however, is not a funky old Chitown corner tavern, repurposed into a brilliant resto as the original is. It has the appearance and feel of a corporate outpost with NONE of the intrinsic vibe and atmosphere of the paternal iteration. It's a big room, with an enclosed "patio" with even less charm. One of the great things about the original is the non-exclusive yet cordial service, hinting at rough trade, yet somehow I believe this is a manufactured behavior, for fun. Kind of like if Ed Debevic was a hardcore outlaw biker. (IYKYK). The servers here were kind of cheerless, and aloof. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was yum. A Caesar was next, and that too, was pretty tasty. So I started to think, "Ok this isn't the original Kuma's, but the Schaumburg audience is going to be a bit different than the Northside Hipsters". When you're aware of circumstances, attitudes change. Wife played it safe, eschewing all the ooga-booga burgers of the menu and just going for a regular burger, ketchup, mayo, tomato, onions, no cheese please. Cooked medium. I, however, remembered seeing someone on TeeVee having a "Plague Bringer" supposedly redolent of Garlic and fiercely chilli'ed. Right up my alley! I bid the Waitron to bring it with all speed. The burgers appeared shortly. Wife noticed the tomato on her plate had an unsavory black & grey area in its innards. obviously rotten. How the expediter ever let that get out of the Kitchen, I dont know. It was sent back an returned with an excuse it was a bit of olive that got mixed up with the tomato. I immediately checked the menu to see if they OFFERED anything, anywhere with black olives, and there wasn't anything there. I asked the same of the Waitron, and got the same answer. As wife didn't put the tomato on her burger, it was shuffled to the side. Wife said the burger was nothing special, And neither was my "PlagueBringer". Most of it was buried in Tortilla Strips. Not appetizing at all. The expected Garlic onslaught was nowhere to be found, neither was the anticipated chilli pepper sting. All I could taste were the french fried onions (the same ones you find on greenie beanie casseroles during your Grandmother's Thanksgiving dinner) heaped under the top pretzel bun hood. A segregated bite found the burger patties un-seasoned and not terribly tasty (both mine and Wife's burger). What a bummer. They gave a very small discount on the burger as an apology for the offending tomato slice. We don't go into restos with a defensive attitude. We HATE sending things back, and will only take a discount or comp if the kitchen or service ABSOLUTELY shit the bed. Wife had the queasies for the rest of the day thinking other vegetations on her burger (or the burger itself) had evidence of mishandling. Fortunately, there was no food sickness. Yes, there was heavy metal music playing very loudly throughout our visit, making conversation difficult, but I knew that would prolly be the case on the way in. The whole thing was disappointing. I was hot-to-trot about the original store and how they seemed they were taking a stand against any restaurant taking itself too seriously. It wouldn't surprise me to learn the folks who financed this outpost mandated some marketing fuck to whitewash the "Heavy Metal" concept, as seen in countless corporate restos based on a charming, small joint, and having none of its original DNA. Doug Sohn was so right to never franchise "Hot Doug's", lest the accountants make a pudding of his concept and vibe as they obviously did here with Kuma's I should have known when I walked in the front door and did not see a placard with the "house rules" nearby. It's a one star. The Old Fashioned and Salad weren't THAT good.

Prices were fair with what everyone was charging in the area. The dance floor is small but everyone in the place was still having a good time regardless and I was dancing as well. I didn't order food, but the food is connected to the restaurant in the same area which based on reviews looked great even though I never tried the food. Also, just from the looks out the banquet hall seems large enough to which is also connected which is convenient if you wanted to host like a wedding.

I called and spoke to with Frank and he was kind enough to reluctantly reserve a couple tables for us, only if I promised to have at least 20 people. He informed me he would charge me if I didn't show with 20 people, which I understood because after all, he could have reserved those tables for other parties and he already had a large party booked for the bar. I started to get nervous about a week before after reading many negative reviews about the place, including reviews stating people were discriminated against, forced to leave, had horrible service from their waitress, etc. I couldn't be happier with the way the night turned out and the way in which we were treated. When we arrived, there was a coat check available and the lobby was beautiful! I was very impressed with the ambience and decor. Our group included many people from diverse backgrounds including black, white, Asian, etc. I didn't feel discriminated against at all and our waitress, although extremely busy, was always checking on us and took care of our needs. She recommended some amazing drinks and despite what other reviews stated, was happy to keep separate tabs for people in our group. One of the men working that night bought my husband a drink for his birthday and at one point the DJ announced everyone's birthdays and the staff brought out a large piece of cake for each of the people there who were celebrating their birthday. I expected an older crowd since I read that VLounge attracted older people but that's what we were looking for since we are not as young as we used to be and would stick out like a sore thumb at any club, yet still wanted a sort of club experience. The crowd was a bit older than I even expected but everyone was nice and there to have a good time. We didn't experience anyone being rude and the dance floor was poppin'! I was pleasantly surprised! I have nothing but good things to say. The drinks were priced reasonably with a good amount of alcohol in them. The calamari was absolutely amazing! The ranch dressing, which one reviewer stated was disgusting, was one of the best I've had. I was happy they actually had ranch dressing because most Italian places do not have ranch. You can tell it's homemade, too and it was the perfect dipping sauce for their calamari. The calamari came out nice and hot and crispy and there were no ro rubbery pieces or weird looking pieces (like usual) that nobody wants to eat and are just left on the plate as waste. The place was PACKED, so of course our server was not able to keep up with the empty glasses and plates on our table but that did not impact our night in any way. I read one negative review stating that the empties were not removed from the table fast enough. I think sometimes people just look for something to complain about because it was completely understandable, considering the amount of people our waitress was serving and how hard it was to move around in the room. The bathrooms were clean but at one point in the night, there was a girl in the stall next to mine throwing up and it was all over the floor, including splashing all the way over into my stall and onto my shoes. It was pretty disgusting but when I exited the stall, I was happy to see staff in the restroom trying to take care of the situation. I believe many of the negative reviews I previously read were unfortunately from people who wanted to come for the free entertainment and were too cheap to spend any money on drinks or food or were not dressed appropriately. Furthermore, any reviewer claiming discrimination...it is my opinion that the reviewer must have been rude or had to have done something to warrant a negative response from the employee. I do not feel any if the employees were discrimanatory. Either that or it was an isolated situation and thankfully, we didn't have that experience! I do wish the staff had nametags so I could have known my server's name or I could have met Frank, considering I was speaking to him on and off the few weeks prior to our event. It also would've been nice to know the gentleman's name who was working the room when we were there and interacting with our group, since he was extremely cordial and professional. All of our guests told us what a fun time they had and what a nice place VLounge was. We don't get out much these days due to our children being young but I do hope we get a chance to go back! I urge you to give VLounge a chance and check it out for yourself! You won't be disappointed!
