Going at the early days of January has its downfalls being so cold. However, in the warmer months, it's nice to see the string lights & fire pit outside. We were able to check in nearly 2 hrs. early, likely due to the off-season / Hilton Honors. A quick phone call was it all it took to confirm if we could come early, as we were ahead of schedule. Sonia deserves kudos for being so responsive, friendly & goes above & beyond. Not only did she let us check in early, but she gave us information on local restaurants & their in-house restaurant's hours of operation. She was also the one to answer my text messages that I received as a 'welcome'. Great customer service & patience. Few things to note for why I gave 4 out of 5 stars: - The indoor pool is heated but the water itself is lukewarm. - The towels for the pool were 'crunchy' / not soft. - Our room (226) was comfortable & relatively clean, however: -- The last people that stayed left greasy handprints / marks from their heads on the headboard -- The shower was sketchy in regard to the shower head having a build-up of calcified hard water & pink around the caulking. As far as breakfast is concerned, it's $14.95 for a very basic buffet. I paid a little extra for 'free' breakfast. Nice dining area, food prepared very well. Nice staff. Overall, nice stay & great for groups based on my observations.

Water doesn't drain properly in shower so a person stands in an inch or two of dirty water. Spend your precious vacation dollars elsewhere. I was planning a trip with a friend for my birthday in January, and then I decided why not just…read moretake advantage of our own gorgeous winter beachscapes right here in Maine? I'd been to the Inn before for happy hour and brunch so I was familiar with the main building and the fabulous view--so for this weekend I booked a Coveside Suite, which is a *huge* 2-bedroom setup with a living room and kitchen, balcony overlooking the snowy lawn and oceanfront, and a gigantic bathroom with both a shower and soaking tub. One bedroom has a king bed and the other two queens, which is perfect for a group of friends (it's not easy to find an arrangement like this). It's all very nicely designed (upscale beachy without being pretentious), and with freezing temperatures and a snowstorm on the way, the fireplace in the living room was the best. Pure hygge! I also recommend taking advantage of the spa, which we did on Saturday, both enjoying wonderful massages (hot rocks nearly had me drooling I was so relaxed). And even if it's cold, you can still tromp around the snow-covered lawn and down to the beach, or bundle up and have a cocktail outside on the deck by a fire pit, which a friend and I braved for awhile because we're weirdos. Large resorts like this can sometimes have food that feels institutional, but that's not the case here at the Sea Glass restaurant, which reliably turns out a nice range of tasty dishes inspired by Maine seafood and produce. I appreciate that there's some overlap between the breakfast/brunch and all-day menus; you can reserve in the restaurant (as we did for Saturday night), eat at the bar (it was hopping on Friday evening, since it's also a destination for locals), or order room service (bless the staff who came out in the cold for us for breakfast!). Everything I had was delicious, with the highlights being a roasted sunchoke appetizer and a hangar steak special with melty Parmesan fries. And I so appreciate the staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful! Service and communication were really top-notch overall, while also being super low-key and relaxed--you never feel the effort behind everything they do to keep things running seamlessly, which is clearly a lot, and that's an art. Pro tip: take advantage of winter rates (and there's an extra little discount for Maine residents, which is nice). Oh, and bring your pooch! The Inn is dog-friendly and there were many happy pups in their winter gear frolicking in the snow. While this was certainly a splurge for me it was one well worth it, and as a local, I'll definitely be back to do so again.

While I understand booking dates and availability, Laurie in the sales office was dismissive and unhelpful. As a catering sales manager in luxury hotels myself, I would never speak to a client in this manner bluntly saying "we are not booking in 2027" after I requested clarification "Thank you for your email. Do (yes, spelled incorrectly) to the size of our property we do not offer courtesy room blocks for events not at the Inn." "If we were to host an event such as a rehearsal dinner or welcome party, what would be the minimum required to host a courtesy block of that size?" "You could potentially book a rehearsal dinner or welcome party if the wedding for that weekend is not having a Friday event and does not have a block of rooms. Currently we are not booking into 2027 so I would not know if that would be available until closer to the date. Rooms are contracted, not courtesy blocks; therefore, there would be a 2-night minimum and a 90% attrition for unused rooms." "I'm a catering sales manager myself in hotels and not understanding what you're saying here. Can you please clarify what you mean by that first paragraph? I understand on the rooms side but if this date is too far out, I'm happy to go elsewhere as other hotels are booking these dates." "We are not booking into 2027 yet." That is the entire conversation. Very disappointing service for a place that wouldn't even offer the opportunity to book with when other similar hotels in the area have opened their books.

It did change ownership's this year, I met Mike the farmer owner and he was very gracious And I'm sure he ran a great in. The current owners are doing a magnificent job as well. I unfortunately do not know the name of the woman who works the front desk. I am sorry for that because I would like to give her a big shout out. She was most gracious and very helpful every time I had a question. We got two rooms. My friend stayed in room 18 which has its own bath and a queen size bed. It was lovely and it was on a corner so she had two windows. I stayed in room 13 it had two twin beds and a sink in the room but the shower and toilet were across the hall. I've stated other places where you have to share a bathroom and this end was different in that the Bathrooms were assigned and only two guest rooms shared each bathroom. My bathroom was never occupied. I'm not sure anybody was in the room that shared my bathroom but if they were, I never saw them. As you do have to walk across the hall to get to your shared bathroom, guest robes were provided. The bed was comfy. You could open the window and enjoy the island breeze. The room, both my guestroom and the bathroom were very clean. One thing that was surprising given the age of the building and that the hotel was pretty full was that it was quiet. I've never heard anyone outside my room or really any noise at all. There are several small rooms off the lobby, where you can sit and read or just enjoy an intimate conversation. All the furniture looked to be in good shape. Nothing was shabby or worn out. There is a porch out in front of the Inn that overlooks the water. It has rocking chairs on the porch and Adirondack chairs out in the yard. It is lovely. Unfortunately it was a rainy day. The first day we were there, but that didn't deter us from exploring the island. The hotel has a refrigerator where you can place your own bottle of wine or anything you need to put in there. But it is a bit tight so don't expect that you're going to put a lot of food in there. The Inn has a restaurant and I'm going to review that separately. Breakfast was included. I would definitely stay here again if overnighting on Mohegan Island..

Sebasco Harbor Resort

*Long Review Ahead* Please read if you're considering Sebasco…read more I stayed at Sebasco Harbor Resort July 14-16, 2025 during a 9-day road trip with my preteen son. I had high expectations: their website and Instagram portrayed a true resort with amenities like a bowling alley, arcade, pool, and polished dining. I booked a Lighthouse Room thinking it would be the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, what we experienced was not a resort, but a run-down campground with misleading marketing. Check-in & First Impressions From the moment we arrived, the property felt neglected. The reception area had a dead plant shedding all over the carpet, and the staff member checking me in looked unkempt and could not locate my reservation or key at first. There was no warm welcome, no orientation... just a finger pointing down a road. The parking lot greeted us with an overflowing dumpster and swarms of flies. Room Conditions & Safety Concerns Our Lighthouse room (#2) was unsafe and unclean. The card reader on the building was broken, the doorknob to our room was loose, and there was no interior lock. As a single mom traveling with my child, I felt extremely vulnerable. The room itself was dirty: dust and hair on windowsills, bugs on the ceiling, no trash cans, no pillowcases, a sink that barely drained, and bouncy, cheap "campground" beds. Sound traveled so badly through gaps under doors that I could hear neighbors coughing. Service & Dining I had pre-ordered chocolate covered strawberries... instead of the promised "nice handwritten note," they were dropped off with a crumpled Post-it scribble. At dinner, service was poor and the food was low quality... the truffle fries were made with rancid oil. Amenities - Closed & Misrepresented My son was most excited about the bowling alley and arcade. After wandering in the dark trying to find them, my key didn't work and the facilities were locked. Only after repeated calls (with no answer at first) did I learn these amenities are closed Mon-Wed due to staffing. None of this was disclosed on the website nor check in. In reality, many of the "resort" amenities are either unavailable or poorly maintained. Management Response At checkout, I spoke directly with the manager. Instead of empathy or resolution, he brushed off my concerns as "rustic charm" and sorry lack of employees. Rustic charm does not excuse unsafe, dirty rooms and misleading advertising. Despite requesting a partial refund, nothing was offered. Bottom Line & Recommendations Sebasco is not a resort - it is a tired campground charging $300-500/night resort prices. Unless there is a complete overhaul in branding, cleanliness, safety, and employee culture, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Maine has many beautiful, authentic resorts; this is not one of them.

This is a complex review…read more The resort is beautiful, the golf course is awesome, and the views are amazing. The location is perfect for a getaway with beaches, seafood, and not far from civilization if you still want to run to town. The only strike is the service is really unfortunate. None of the staff can tell you anything about activities or events on premises. The waitstaff is extremely friendly but get more wrong than right on orders. Great place to be with friends and family but plan to be on your own for service.
