My sister in law made us reservations for our family at Black Point Inn. If you're visiting Maine I think there are more scenic and enjoyable spots to visit like Ogunquit Beach, Marginal Way, and Two Lights. This is a restaurant and hotel. Most of my family ordered lobster which came with corn. I ordered a green curry dish. My family members who ordered lobster with corn reported the lobster was good but the corn was not. The portions were small so they were still left wanting more. My green curry dish was tasteful, but again portion size was minuscule. It was just a handful of steamed vegetables with green curry on top. I was also left wanting something with more sustenance. There is not much to see within the vicinity but a hidden path at the other end of the parking lot overseeing some water. This place is more upscale and pricey.

4 stars based on weighted averages... - the location ambiance, character and view - 5 stars - the service, very friendly, accurate, and vacation speed lunch, more time to enjoy the ambiance and view, 4 stars - beverages, excellent selection of mock-tails, perfectly described on the menu, and even better in reality. - food, good selection of both seafood and non-seafood, definitely heavier on the seafood...the food is hit or miss. We tried 6 things... - the brisket sandwich - amazing- 5 stars - it was perfect...the meat was tender, the bread was soft on the inside and crisp on the outside, the cheese and horseradish sauce was creamy and flavorful but not too sharp. - the homemade chips and clam dip. 4 stars. Delicious! The dip isn't clamy at all...more like a onion dip, but it is delicious none the less. - the grilled chicken panini - 3 stars - the arugula walnut pesto was delicious! - the tuna poke - 3 stars - a nice selection of accompaniments...seaweed salad, kimchi, cucumber salad, the rice was perfectly cooked, but I expected higher quality tuna, and more of it for the price. - the desserts - excellent! 5 stars. Worth a trip just for the dessert! They a wonderful selection (6 options) of seasonal desserts. See photo. We tried the key lime pie cheesecake that had edible fresh flowers, and the strawberry shortcake. Both outstanding. See photo. Someone is putting love into the desserts.

    Dis-gusting.

So terrible. SO terrible. Very few options, settled for a lobster roll on a gf bun. Bun tasted like it had been frozen, and freezer burned, for over a year. The lobster was mushy and just BAD. Absolutely the worst meal I've had out in as long as I can remember, if not ever. My husband, non gf, ordered a burger which came out no sooner than 45 minutes after my roll. It looked like it had cooked about 45 too long. Not a place to ever return to.

This was my first visit to the Black Point Inn. The inn itself is very warm and cozy, with multiple fireplaces in the lobby and restaurant area. It's all dark wood interior and makes you want to curl up with a hot tea and book. We didn't spend the night as it's only a 15 min drive from our house. But we wanted to try the restaurant. The restaurant was bright and airy with 3 areas, the inside restaurant area, a sun room area, and the outdoors deck. We ate inside as the temperatures were cooling off. Of note they will bring you blankets to wrap around you out on the deck which I think is a great touch. My one real complaint is that the menu was limited. The appetizers are mostly shellfish based or contain nuts (pesto), which if you are unfortunate enough to be allergic to either really limits what you can order. They could use more variety among the appetizers. The main course did have more of a variety but there were also limited options there. There were 4 of us, 3 of us ordered the steak frites and my husband ordered the duck. The steaks were cooked perfectly and do tender. The duck was overcooked but still had a lovely flavor. It came with a barley risotto which while it had an ok flavor was quite stodgy and you couldn't eat a lot of it. I did start with the french onion soup which I will say was perfect! Will definitely consider going again at some point. The atmosphere and view are really nice

The food. The view. The atmosphere. The overall experience. 5 stars. I eat here often over the summer. Whether I sit at the bar, inside dining room or my favorite location, the outside deck, the service is always great. Slow and reserved. Nobody is going to rush you. Take your time. Enjoy the experience. Great wine list. Lots of specialty drinks and beer too. The oysters are clean and flavorful. The clam chowder is not my favorite but it's flavorful. I've also had the crab cakes and the salads. All good. Main meals are excellent too. Lobster roll and fries. Lobster ravioli. Chicken and fettuccine. Baked cod. Awesome!! And for desert, the house made blueberry pie à al mode is suburb. It's a must! I can't even wait til I return. See you there!!

I'd been to the Inn before for happy hour and brunch so I was familiar with the main building and the fabulous view--so for this weekend I booked a Coveside Suite, which is a *huge* 2-bedroom setup with a living room and kitchen, balcony overlooking the snowy lawn and oceanfront, and a gigantic bathroom with both a shower and soaking tub. One bedroom has a king bed and the other two queens, which is perfect for a group of friends (it's not easy to find an arrangement like this). It's all very nicely designed (upscale beachy without being pretentious), and with freezing temperatures and a snowstorm on the way, the fireplace in the living room was the best. Pure hygge! I also recommend taking advantage of the spa, which we did on Saturday, both enjoying wonderful massages (hot rocks nearly had me drooling I was so relaxed). And even if it's cold, you can still tromp around the snow-covered lawn and down to the beach, or bundle up and have a cocktail outside on the deck by a fire pit, which a friend and I braved for awhile because we're weirdos. Large resorts like this can sometimes have food that feels institutional, but that's not the case here at the Sea Glass restaurant, which reliably turns out a nice range of tasty dishes inspired by Maine seafood and produce. I appreciate that there's some overlap between the breakfast/brunch and all-day menus; you can reserve in the restaurant (as we did for Saturday night), eat at the bar (it was hopping on Friday evening, since it's also a destination for locals), or order room service (bless the staff who came out in the cold for us for breakfast!). Everything I had was delicious, with the highlights being a roasted sunchoke appetizer and a hangar steak special with melty Parmesan fries. And I so appreciate the staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful! Service and communication were really top-notch overall, while also being super low-key and relaxed--you never feel the effort behind everything they do to keep things running seamlessly, which is clearly a lot, and that's an art. Pro tip: take advantage of winter rates (and there's an extra little discount for Maine residents, which is nice). Oh, and bring your pooch! The Inn is dog-friendly and there were many happy pups in their winter gear frolicking in the snow. While this was certainly a splurge for me it was one well worth it, and as a local, I'll definitely be back to do so again.

While I understand booking dates and availability, Laurie in the sales office was dismissive and unhelpful. As a catering sales manager in luxury hotels myself, I would never speak to a client in this manner bluntly saying "we are not booking in 2027" after I requested clarification "Thank you for your email. Do (yes, spelled incorrectly) to the size of our property we do not offer courtesy room blocks for events not at the Inn." "If we were to host an event such as a rehearsal dinner or welcome party, what would be the minimum required to host a courtesy block of that size?" "You could potentially book a rehearsal dinner or welcome party if the wedding for that weekend is not having a Friday event and does not have a block of rooms. Currently we are not booking into 2027 so I would not know if that would be available until closer to the date. Rooms are contracted, not courtesy blocks; therefore, there would be a 2-night minimum and a 90% attrition for unused rooms." "I'm a catering sales manager myself in hotels and not understanding what you're saying here. Can you please clarify what you mean by that first paragraph? I understand on the rooms side but if this date is too far out, I'm happy to go elsewhere as other hotels are booking these dates." "We are not booking into 2027 yet." That is the entire conversation. Very disappointing service for a place that wouldn't even offer the opportunity to book with when other similar hotels in the area have opened their books.

I'd recommend NOT staying at the Scarborough, Maine Comfort Inn. I started using the Scarborough, ME Comfort Inn for myself and family members since July 2025 instead of another Portland area chain hotel that cost more; since then myself and family members have probably stayed at the Scarborough Comfort Inn 8 or 9 total nights. Following my last 2 night stay and my experiences with their inhospitable front desk staff, lazy housekeeping staff, and unprofessional general manager, that likely will be my last stay at this hotel. We stayed at the Scarborough Comfort Inn arriving Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 and departing Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025. When we checked into our room (#213) around 3:00pm'ish the hallway REEKED of marijuana smoke. I realize pot smoking is legal in Maine but it was my understanding that this is a non-smoking property. Although the GM claims that they don't allow tobacco or marijuana smoking in the premises (outdoors is OK) when we checked into our rooms on the 2nd floor on August 25, 2025 (a previous stay) the hallway had a strong smell of pot smoke. If you read other reviews on this and other sites you'll see it's a common complaint. We left to pick people up at the airport and returned to the hotel later that night, around perhaps 8:00pm'ish. When we arrived the front desk reception area smelled strongly of marijuana smoke. It appears that smoking pot in public areas in this hotel is a common practice that management does not police, even in the lobby. We made sure we spoke loud enough that the front desk person heard our comments about the pot smell, and an hour or so later when I went back down to the lobby to buy a bottle of water the air had been sprayed so that the smell was gone, yet the GM claims that never happened and they "have no record" of it happening. PRO TIP: Don't record it and there won't be any record of it! Kudos to the GM for that savvy move! We departed Sunday morning 12/14/2025 and when I arrived home I discovered that I had left a triangle shaped "knee pillow" under the covers in the bed. I called the hotel on Monday morning 12/15/2025 and was told the front desk person would check with housekeeping and get back to me. Having not received the promised phone call I AGAIN called the hotel at 5:36pm on Tuesday 12/16/2025. The front desk people on all stays have been less than warm and friendly; being that they're in the hospitality industry you would think they would train their front desk people to be hospitable. The front desk person on 12/16/2025 at 5:36pm informed me that the housekeeping people did not see / find my pillow. SERIOUSLY? When room service stripped the bed they did not see a TRIANGULAR SHAPED pillow that obviously was NOT the hotel's pillow under the covers of the bed? That seems highly doubtful; one can only guess that housekeeping threw it away because they were too lazy to turn it in and don't respect guests' personal property. I asked to speak to the hotel's owner or GM and I was put on hold for 1 hour and 1 minute and was then hung up on (see photo). I called back and was told the GM would be in after noon the next day and to call back the next day. Upon calling back I was told that the GM was not in and he would call me back. That never happened. I then emailed the hotel's GM. I received an email in response that acknowledged the issues I brought up, apologized for everything, but offered to do nothing to address the issues raised. The topping on the cake is that the email from the GM came from a "no reply" email address so that I could not respond back (see photo). Who responds to a customer complaint via email using a "no reply" email address (see photo)? Obviously, management at this hotel has no clue on how to run a hospitality business, or how to do business at all. I contacted Choice Hotel customer service on their 800 number and in investigating the matter the general manager of the Scarborough Comfort Inn appeared to have no problem outright lying to them about numerous aspects of our stay, contradicting what he wrote in his email to me. He claimed that there was "no record" of the marijuana issue in the lobby and that it never happened. PRO TIP: If you don't record customer complaints and issues there won't be any record of it. Well played, Comfort Inn of Scarborough GM Ranjit Singh! Apparently being a repeat customer of the Scarborough Comfort Inn means nothing to its management, and being a Gold Member of the Choice Hotels Rewards Program means nothing to Choice Hotels customer service department. There's a reason why the Scarborough Comfort Inn is ranked 13th out of 13 hotels in Scarborough on Travel Advisor. My personal experiences confirm the hotel's horrendous reviews. I'd recommend you find someplace else -- any place to go -- than this hotel.

Booking the room online, I asked for a wheelchair accessible room. While booking, it does not tell you the room is not available or if it did, it was not clearly evident. So we arrived relatively early in the afternoon. I said hello and indicated I was checking in and that I had a reservation. Jerome was at the desk. No "hello", no "welcome" just "can I see your ID." When I said I requested a h/c room near the front door I was told that a h/c room was not available. That was disappointing but we usually make do when that happens. He perfunctorily pointed out the location of the coffee and gave me my keys. Well I got the room next to the FURTHEST room from the lobby. The room here was small but still navigable until the bathroom. Unlike most hotels the bathroom doorway was 24" or less wide as a 24" wide wheelchair could not fit through the door. In addition, the door was on a corner making the bathroom minuscule. This place caters to bus tours so the place seems like it would pretty much full most days. Too small restrooms and reservations for the type of room not guaranteed. Not returning.
