They used all the right parts and specialize specifically in cars like Mercedes, BMW, etc. Brad is the manager who was superb, and his mechanic Cristian from start to finish made sure my car was again safe for me and my kiddos. BUYER BEWARE So,…read more I needed an ECU for my 2003 GMC Diesel. This is a discontinued part, so I called around to multiple wrecking yards in the Bay Area with no avail. I finally called Santa Clara Truck and low and behold they had one. I was surprised/excited they had one in stock, as the only other one I was able to find was in Roseville. I went down to San Martin (SC Truck moved from Santa Clara to San Martin), picked up the ECU, and took it to the dealership to have it programmed/installed. I get a call from the dealership later that evening stating that the ECU was not communicating properly, and that it had some sort of internal defect. I was a little disappointed, but it is what it is, as I knew I was taking a chance buying it from a wrecking yard. The next day I take it back to Santa Clara Truck to return it. The guy at the counter (I believe may be the owner) says it's going to be a 25% restocking fee. Mind you, there is nowhere in the office that states anything about a "restocking fee". I asked, so you're telling me that you are going to charge me a 25% restocking fee for a defective part. He said yes and tried to change the subject by saying, "if you didn't give us the right service number it wouldn't work", as if I didn't know that, and was ignorant. I assured him that the service number matched exactly and that I had matched it to the one that was pulled off my truck. I went back and forth with this guy for a bit about the restocking fee. He finally that said I could exchange it for another one witch he conveniently didn't have, or I could get credit for other parts. Reluctantly I asked him about some parts I needed for another vehicle, and conveniently didn't have those parts either. Not wanting any more aggravation, or to waste any more of my day, I told him to just give me a refund. After pretending he was having difficulties with the machine to put the money back on my card, he finally printed up a refund receipt (minus restocking fees),handed it to me. then proceeded to put it back into inventory for resale. Really? I just told him I paid $200 an hr. for the dealership to program it, they tried, and it was deemed defective, and he is still willing to resell it to the next guy/gal that walks through the door looking for this part. Now I know why these guys where the only one in the Bay Area with that specific ECU. They just keep reselling the same defective one and charging a restocking fee. This guy is super greedy, and this place is a total scam. I will never do business with Santa Clara Truck again!

When it came time to get a leveling kit for my truck, there weren't many options in town. 831 Trucks were the highest rated. So I went in for an estimate. Starting with the service... the level of honesty and customer service here is absolutely unrivaled. I like to off-road, but this truck is also my daily driver, so I was torn on getting a 3.5" lift, or just a leveling kit to get some much needed front end clearance. They could have taken the chance to try and upsell me on the much more expensive lift, but that's not what they did. They asked questions about my driving habits, do I tow, how often do I off-road, and suggested that the leveling kit would be much more effective for my use, and much less expensive. Wow! The estimate wasn't gouging. No giant part markups here, just what they cost, and I checked. The work was done in half a day, and it was done very well. The next morning I noticed the front end suspension on the driver side was making some wild noises. So I took it back, they looked at it for no charge, and let me know that my struts had reached the end of their life after 118k miles. Fair enough! They suggested a part, provided a competitive quote (again, no part markups), and had it installed in less than half a day after I got back from my weekend getaway. Because the new shocks were also leveling, and I had just been there, they very generously adjusted the cost. It made a customer for life. The new ride is incredible, and after having crawled around under the truck, the workmanship is fantastic. I had noticed what looked like coolant on my driveway, and when I picked the truck up from the shock install, they let me know it looked like my water pump was leaking. No upsell, no push to have the work done. They said they noticed the leak, suggested the work, and let me know they were there if needed. I got it home and traced the leak to the gaskets on my pump. At 120k miles, I'd say it reached the end of its operable life. Guess where I'll be going to get that taken care of? Thanks for being awesome, 831 Trucks.

Which was stitching in tubeing and hard stitching buckles for the webbing too cinch through. Instead what I got back is seat covers with erratic placement, pretty poor stitching consistency, never stitched in the buckles and charged me $200 for what is I'm guessing under 40 minutes of work. Not impressed at all, Tony has effectively helped me realize that the Craftsman is dead and or dying. You have no pride in your work because you shouldn't.
