I really wanted to take a little bit of time to drop some love for Alex, Andy, and Deshawn over at…read morethe Hyper Sonic shop. I'm a little disappointed with myself that I was not aware of this shop in all this time I've resided in Tacoma. They have a neat interesting variety of toys and video games. This review is going to focus on my interaction with Alex and Alex from a seller's standpoint. I have a fair amount of collectibles and there were a couple action figures I was looking to (reluctantly) unload (a 1983 Inspector Gadget doll and a NECA Ada Wong to be exact). I had looked online and consulted various other stores in the area and the few offers I had received were far from fair. I'm happy to report that Alex and Andy knew the market and what my items were going for online. We even looked them up together. We had some obligatory endearing haggling and in the end they offered me a fair price for my beloved items. They were the only store that I had spoken with in the local area that were not only fair in their evaluation but even in the same league as the market value. They even appreciated the items as much as I did so I knew they would end up in a good home. Again, I only wished I knew about them sooner. I will definitely keep them in mind for the future when I inevitably decide to sell some cherished childhood treasures. Cheers, guys.

I really hate to write negative reviews. It makes me feel bad…read more I know a lot of things can be out of employees control at retail and people are generally trying to do their best, but this is one of the worst GameStop locations I've been to and it honestly warrants a bad review. There are several issues with this location specifically. One of the primary ones is that one of the managers is very rude and incredibly aggressive at trying to sell you a pro membership / GameStop credit card. I get very uncomfortable every time I go to this location specifically. Every time they ask about our pro membership, we politely say we don't want one and we don't have one. At most locations the staff are generally friendly and respectful and will only ask once and leave it alone. I understand it's part of your job to sell the membership, asking once is fine. At this location, the manager will ask us 10+ times if we want the membership, they will look up our phone number, even though we say we don't have one with the store. They will ask over and over how much we shop / where we shop to try and validate why "we have to have it". Even after declining endless times, they will not stop trying to sell it to us. This one manager just can't help himself, every other store they will leave us alone when we decline once. They go as far as looking up other stores where we shop and then ask about personal details, to try and validate their pitch. This goes on for 7+ minutes while a long line forms behind us, after we've declined so many times. This happens every time we go here specifically. It stresses me out to even buy anything at this store, because without fail this extremely long pitch happens every single time. The last time we went, we noticed they had just started unboxing Pokémon sealed products. Neat! The manager saw me looking at the cards and immediately just makes a snarky comment about it. "You want the good news or the bad news?", he asked me. I said the "bad news". He replies with, "It's $300 dollars!" and just proceeds to literally laugh in my face. GameStop is notorious for charging well above MSRP on these scarce Pokémon products. They had dozens of boxes of various sealed products, many of which were 50% above even unfair scalper prices, as they are literally laughing at potential customers and fans who would love to buy one product to enjoy. This "$300" Pokémon product they are selling is $69.99 MSRP. I get it, it's rare to find these products in the wild, but it would have been exciting to see these sealed products being restocked at any other fair retailer, here it just turned into frustration, at the unfairness of their pricing and the literal taunting by the employees. The whole experience was honestly insulting and sickening. Even after all this at this particular trip, my wife found a plushie she liked, and we decided to get it. When we were buying it, the manager, was doing the endless marketing spiel I mentioned above. The manager that taunted us earlier kept fondling the plushie and petting it, talking about how much he loved plushies and how much his family members loved plushies. (There is a long line behind us, but he kept going on and on about himself and caressing the plushie we were buying) The entire process of buying this item was incredibly uncomfortable and draining. I know all of this sounds harsh and if the employees are reading this, I don't think you are bad people. I encourage you to try to be more aware of how you are treating customers. This basically happens everytime we go into this store and I wish it was a better experience with fair prices. I have visited this store for many years and I always leave disappointed and frustrated. Please do better GameStop, I want this location to be a great place to shop.
