    Sausage baked potatoes

Whenever I'm in Alabama, I need my Dreamland fix. I've been to the one in Mobile and now when I visit Birmingham. The food is always delicious BBQ, service is always friendly and fast and the place smells of delicious food "Q". We always try to change things up and order different things. This time I got the small rib plate, and two sides. My coworker and I split the load chips with pulled pork and he got the loaded baked potato with sausage. Half the time we remember to get the chocolate dessert but we're always full and pass.

Ordered two pans of tips for our Easter family meal. What I received was NOT acceptable. Burnt meat and there was no bone at all (Tips are meat still attached to a piece of bone). The onsite manager threw sarcasm and a dumb smirk in his condescending attempt to educate me on tips vs ribs. It was a $140 lesson, and I'm a quick study. Dreamland 280 is NOT recommended AT ALL. Full Moon is better, they just don't sell tips (the ONLY reason I even bothered). Dreamland has been a strong brand and presence in Alabama, but this location failed in product and in customer service. The manager offered a $25 giftcard LOL; I wouldn't eat there again for free

We were coming back from the Auburn game and it was late but we were craving some BBQ. This place was one of the few spots still open so we decided to give it a shot. We were greeted and seated right away. Inside, it has a very rustic vibe but there is the dining area of true sports bar area. We got there around 8:45pm and the sport bar area was the only place where people were seated. Our waitress's name was Sharon and she was one of the nicest ladies I've ever met. She quickly took our order and got us our drinks. We both opted for some local beer which was on tap. I ordered the ribs and a baked potato. The ribs were good. They were not super tender but had a good texture. The bbq sauce helped enhance the flavor so poured quite a bit of it. The baked potato was also good and a decent size. Overall it was a nice meal but Sharon makes you want to come back.

This location doesn't have a drive thru so the curbside pickup was the next best option. To request curbside, you must place your order online . Ok , cool. I go to place my order online and there was a glitch where it wouldn't allow me to select same day pickup. So annoying. I ended up calling and the young lady who I spoke with reported this issue to the manager. The manager allegedly corrected this online ordering issue I was experiencing. Turns out others were also experiencing this same annoying issue. Take 2 , 3... online ordering still NOT working so I go inside to place my order. The young girl I spoke with by phone was very apologetic when I came in. She quickly took my order and I didn't have to wait too long for me to go order. I was so excited to get home to eat my half slab of ribs, creamy coleslaw and banana pudding! The ribs could have been hotter but they were tender and were tasty. I opted for the bbq sauce on the side. I also enjoyed the coleslaw and banana pudding. Their banana pudding certainly is some of the best I've had! This location looks dingy to me and I got this impression before I even stepped in the inside. Not dirty but just lacking in appearance/ambiance. Overall with this being my first time coming to this specific location, it's a pretty average experience. I certainly appreciate the in person customer service I received. The online ordering was traumatic!

I've never tried Dreamland before until last week, but I always heard people either really love it or they don't since they used vinegar based bbq sauces. After my visit, I'm somewhere right in between! They start you off with bread and bbq dipping sauce. I loved the tangy bbq sauce flavor! Next up was the fried okra. I can take it or leave it. My boyfriend and my parents both love fried okra. It's usually just okay to me. For my entree, I chose the tips and chips which my boyfriend recommended. The chips were amazing, but the rib tips were just okay to me. I would definitely come back here, but venture out with their other menu options.

I think I'm cursed with Dreamland. I want to like it so much, but every time I've been there have been service issues. Met some family for dinner there at 6 and when we pulled up there were some kids with flyers at the door for some sort of fundraiser that night. We were seated and a good 10 minutes later someone came to take our drink orders and food orders. It was at this time that our waiter told us they were the only waiter for a whole half of the restaurant. We were starting to get anxious after a while of waiting and finally got our food 45 minutes after ordering it. It was half full in the restaurant so that was frustrating. We had to ask for silverware as we still hadn't gotten any after our food was brought out. The food was really good and I did enjoy it. The flavor was nice and my meal was enough to have a whole other meal on. The real highlight of the meal was the banana pudding. It reminded me of something you'd get at your grandmother's house and we all loved it. The food is great, but the service was very lacking.

Unfortunately Archie's not convenient for me, so I don't get to Archie's nearly enough. But I know where to go when it counts! The ole fashioned home-made fried Apple and Peach pies remind of my grandmother's, she used to make these fried pies for the "Real" Original Golden Rule in Irondale when it was across the street, from the current Irondale locations many years ago. The beans and coleslaw are also excellent. I think Archie's may have some of these vintage photos inside if my memory serves. I grew up with my grandad standing me on the kitchen table as a toddler while he made up the original Golden Rule BBQ Sauce in gaint pickle jars. The jars was bigger than I was. I still have this original Golden Rule sauce recipe that Archie's uses. They do an excellent job! Nothing has changed at this location but the name. Still the best BBQ in town. The complete package. The servers always do a great job, those that take and fetch to go orders from the parking lot are really efficient. The only constructive advice I would give is this owner, is to Keep Up The Work ! And get setup for delivery! So how some way! Somehow being able to pay online so pick ups can be made by others for delivery. Double your business!

Brussels sprouts. Tender and crunchy at the same time! I don't know what that sweet and tangy sauce is but it is delicious. Pork and greens. This is the quintessential dish. You must have it. Saw's BBQ in Hoover landed squarely in category two. Chaz was fantastic from the jump. Attentive without hovering, knew the menu cold, steered us in the right direction, and honestly should probably be given partial ownership based on effort alone. Every recommendation he made ended up being the best thing we ate. We started with the fried green tomatoes, and buddy... the breading fled that tomato like the crew abandoning the Titanic. One bite and the whole crispy shell just slid off like it had somewhere else to be. Underneath was a tomato wondering how things got this bad. Not a strong start. The pulled chicken showed up next and somehow managed to achieve the culinary equivalent of elevator music. It wasn't bad. It also wasn't anything. Just sitting there existing on the plate with absolutely zero personality. If beige were a flavor, this would be its flagship product. Then Chaz's recommendations started rolling in and suddenly the kitchen remembered they could cook. The fried pickles were outstanding. Crisp, golden, crunchy, salty in all the right ways. Exactly what you want fried pickles to be. The fried okra though? That was the star of the night. Whole okra pods instead of those sad little slime coins you usually get. Crispy, seasoned well, breading actually staying attached like it understood the assignment. I could've eaten a bucket of those and started negotiating take-home rights. The okra saved the evening. Finished with the banana pudding, which was light and airy and a nice way to wrap things up. I wanted a little more banana flavor punching through, but it still worked as dessert after the rollercoaster happening before it. So here's the deal: Chaz earned every dollar of that tip. Some of the sides absolutely delivered. Some of the main attractions felt like they were clocking in emotionally from home. Would I come back? Yeah, probably. But next time I'm skipping the identity crisis chicken and just ordering every fried thing Chaz points at like he's conducting a very delicious orchestra. An average experience overall.

My wife and I ate at Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint for the first time today, and we have found our new favorite BBQ joint. We enjoy watching Pat Martin's tv show, "Life of Fire," so we came with very high expectations. They surpassed them. When we stepped out of the car the smoke BBQ smell was amazing. I ordered a pulled pork shoulder sandwich and asked them to top it with coleslaw and had a side of mac & cheese and bought a second side, cornbread hoecake. Martha ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. I started with the mac & cheese. It was delicious with plenty of cheese and baked to perfection with a crispy cheese top. Really delicious. The cornbread hoecake was incredible it looks like and has the consistency of a pancake. You must order that when you go. Then I picked up the pulled pork shoulder sandwich and sunk my teeth in it. Oh, my! Pulled pork at its best. I added the Jack's Creek vinegar-based sauce to it, and wow, that added even more outstanding flavor to it. I've found my new favorite BBQ sauce. Martha thoroughly enjoyed her sliced brisket sandwich. We both had a bite of each others sandwiches and both were mouth-satisfying delicious. The brisket was perfect. The baked beans were very tasty, too. Everything was about as perfect as you can get at a BBQ joint. Pat Martin knows his BBQ, just as he displays on his show "Life of Fire." Before I could say anything, Martha said, "This is the best BBQ I've ever had. Let's come back for lunch tomorrow." She didn't have to twist my arm. We still like many other delicious BBQ restaurants in Birmingham, and will eat at them again, but Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint is our new favorite. In a city where BBQ is king, Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint sits atop the throne. We returned the next day for lunch. : Martha enjoyed the mouth watering and mouth satisfying Pulled Pork Sandwich topped with coleslaw and deliciously seasoned and crisp homemade chips. I threw down on a half slab of fall off the bone full flavored ribs. I got half of the ribs Memphis dry rub and the other half wet (St. Louis style). They were amazing! My sides were broccoli salad (because I'm a health nut) and homemade fries. And, of course, the delicious cornbread hoecake.
