    Dream Tea House at WEM.

I felt like the last person on Earth who has ever tried bubble tea, so I finally decided to try it. I always thought the Dream Tea House looked interesting, and it's always busy, so I figured it was a good place to go. There were so many choices on the menu, that I wasn't sure what to get. I thought strawberry would be a good choice, since I love strawberries. I paid for my bubble tea and the nice lady gave me a piece of paper with a stamp on it. I asked her what it was for, and she said it was for a draw. I entered my name, not knowing what I could possibly win. Then I sat down and waited for my bubble tea. I saw her put the cup of bubble tea in a little machine that lifted the cup and sealed the top with plastic. It was so cool. I got my bubble tea and chose one of the thick, colourful straws. One end of the straw was sharp, so I assumed you I was supposed to stab the plastic top. That seemed to work well, so I guess I did it right. Upon my first sip, I was somewhat disappointed. I didn't really like the taste. It was like a sweet milk and not at all like tea. My dislike might have been because of the strawberry flavour though. Although I like strawberries, I've never liked fake strawberry flavour or strawberry ice cream, and this is what it reminded me of. I was also scared to suck up on of the balls from the bottom of the cup. They looked kind of gross. When I finally did, I was kind of disgusted, because it reminded me of a fish eyeball (at least that's what I imagine a fish eyeball would feel like in my mouth). It was squishy and jelly--soft on the outside and a little firmer on the inside. Eventually I got used to the jelly balls, and I started to really enjoy them. It was just like jelly candy. When I left the store, I noticed a big sign outside that said the draw was for a round trip ticket to Vancouver and gift certificates for Dream Tea House. That's a pretty awesome draw, and I hope I win! Although I wasn't crazy about the bubble tea, I still want to try it again, but this time I'll get something other than strawberry.

Related to the famous Whyte Ave location, this places serves the best bubble tea on the west side. I started my bubble tea experience at their Whyte Ave location and I was happy when they opened up a closer one. Service and atmosphere are alright, but the bubble tea is amazing! They also offer slushies, ice cream, iced tea, and also shaved ice. They have many flavors of bubble tea to choose from; from familiar flavors such as strawberry, mango, coconut,to something different like iced chai tea. Their bubble tea is provided in a thin layered plastic cup and sealed with some stereotypical Asian anime designed plastic. Keep in mind the drink sizes are HUGE, and can be considered a meal itself. Good thing you can walk it off in the Mall. Only problem is that they do not accept credit cards...so make sure you bring some cash with you. Also, there is very limited seating and lacks any kind of inviting atmosphere their Whyte Ave location has.

2 stars for the poor and unfriendly customer service at this location (almost all the time!). The guy taking orders could care less about creating a positive experience for his guests. I saw this with our order on the weekend, and with the many others who ordered and waited alongside us afterwards. Their only saving grace is the bubble tea drinks which are delicious, if not filling! (Warning: Do not order this to "tie you over" to a meal like we did, as my boyfriend and I ended up being too full to even eat lunch after this!) I love their fresh mango bubble milk (with soy milk substition), whereas my boyfriend loves the signature Dream bubble drink with made with coconut and taro. The renovations are decent and were much needed after the sloppy disarray the store front was before. Now it looks tidier, and more organized.

This place is has the same amazing bubble tea that the South side location has, just not the atmosphere. This Dream Tea House has great bubble tea - I maintain that Dream makes the best bubble tea in the city. But this location of Dream, isn't very big and they don't have the comfy, cozy atmosphere that the other location has. This one is very basic - a few tables, a few chairs and that's it. They are efficient here, but not as efficient as the other location. But if you're looking for a great drink to grab and walk around the mall with - this is the place to go. And that's what it's designed for. It's not a sit-in location like the South side is. It's a grab-a-drink-and-go kind of place.

Tried the green apple tea and my girlfriend tried the chocolate raspberry milk tea. Both are good, although my favourite is still taro lychee. The line ups builds fast but staff are quick so I waited max 5mins.

I'm sure you've heard of bubble tea. It's a type of drink (juice or milk based) with balls of something (you choose from a list, tapioca is an example). It's a really refreshing drink, depending on the flavor you get. If you get the wrong flavor it's not so great but if you choose wisely it can be really good. I suggest you try the ones that are not milk based. They just seem really heavy and with the wrong type of fruit can make the drink taste less than par. I find it really hard to choose between all of the flavors they have. But I really like the raspberry one. A friend of mine really likes the peach flavored one (not with milk) and Curtis really enjoys the melon or the strawberry one (again with no milk).

The staff member was friendly and the environment inviting. Parking is free which is a HUGE bonus on Whyte Ave. They had a variety of seating and even a small bookshelf of games! Prices were completely reasonable - large was $5.99 with a smaller size available for slightly less. Next time I'd really like to try something with the cheese foam or egg pudding on the bottom But I had dinner not too long before the visit so went with a 1/2 sweet more traditional milk tea.

It's nice that they have a lot as parking around whyte especially come those warmer months can be a challenge. Open everyday of the year (including Christmas). They had a soft opening and were offering 15% off their menu which was nice. They have a good variety of drink flavours on their menu. I ordered a peach pineapple green fruit tea with lychee (0.75 extra). My drink was really refreshing and delicious. You have the option of choosing your sugar level (extra, normal, or none). I went with normal. It was sweet but not too bad. I would definitely get that flavour again. Apparently they also sell snacks and pastries. They didn't have them during their soft opening but I was told they would once they fully open. They appear to have a decent amount of seating for a smaller place. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly.

The space has a lot of seating for pairs, but we were allowed to move tables and chairs to gather at with our group of 6. There's beautiful metalwork art for sale on one wall and the other side has a nice selection of teas, crystals, clothing, jewellery, incense, and other fun 'mystic' merchandise. They've also have a lot of healthy food and snacks on display too. My kids happened to like the scones, so much so, that I bought 3 as an afternoon snack! The cream and jam complimented those scones really well. Cally's teas are a part of Clair-I-tea (I was a little sad when I heard they closed their previous location a year ago, but glad they have re-appeared here!). They have a great assortment of teas, it's really hard to pick one, but there's little tins that you can open and smell, plus they also label the ones that are caffeinated which helps tons when my kids are in tow. I chose earl grey cream and winter cherry tea; it's perfect for sitting & relaxing in the space and you get a whole pot of tea to go with the fancy little tea setting. I actually want to come back to buy a bag of tea now because the flavours are pretty unique to me. They also have psychic services too, available by drop-in or booked appointments; you can choose what kind of reading: tarot, palm, etc. The wall opposite of the cashier has the names of the fortune tellers and what their pricing is like which is fairly reasonable and helps to avoid any surprises when it comes to payment. My friends had their tarot read in the back room and the psychic also let them record the reading on their phone and take pictures of their tarot spread which is really helpful to reflect on later! Overall, I really appreciated the service here, and enjoyed my afternoon tea; I definitely will be coming back to try out the psychic services and pick up a few stones for my crystal grid!
