She didn't ask many questions after, but hey, I'm not picky with my brows, I just want them to look nice and even, and she definitely delivered! The service was fantastic throughout! So when I looked up waxing services on Yelp and noticed that Uni K was nearby, with great reviews and online booking I was locked in! First of all, it was so happy to see that they had some same day appointment availability! Why that may not always be the case, some booking systems will still only show starting next day. I also loved that their menu had a lot of options, including more than one type of Brazilian to book. When I showed up to my appointment, I checked in and filled out some basic, new client information. I was then taken to my room with my waxer promptly after. They use hard wax here which many people prefer, but for me hurts the most. But I don't really care what is used as long as they're hygienic, quick, effective and will not spawn in-grown hairs. My waxer was quick, thorough and one week out...things are still looking good! As a bonus, first time clients got a significant discount which made me even happier about my experience. While my experience before check out was already excellent, that was just icing on the cake. Overall, I left very impressed and will definitely return again in the future!

My little sister ran to her appointment…read moreand arrived flushed and a little sweaty, and the technician -- I believe her name was B -- proceeded to wax half the area before suddenly stopping and telling her that she was "too sweaty" to continue and that she would need to wait 40 MINS + an additional hour if the next client showed up. For context, my sister has been getting waxed regularly for over eight years. She is athletic, healthy, and this has never happened to her before. She was not dripping in sweat or experiencing anything extreme -- she had simply rushed to make the appointment and was flushed. None of that should even matter in terms of how respectfully a client is treated, but it made the reaction feel even more disproportionate. The technician told her she would need to wait 40 minutes or longer before they could continue, in part because another client was coming in. That is where this started to feel less like a legitimate waxing concern and more like a scheduling issue that my sister was being blamed for. I could completely understand saying, "Let's give you a few minutes to cool down so the wax adheres better." But stopping halfway through a service and telling someone to wait 40+ minutes is a very different situation. I have also been getting waxed for around 10 years, including throughout hot and humid New York summers, and I have never experienced or even heard of someone being treated this way simply for being a little sweaty. Beyond the explanation making very little sense, telling a client she is "too sweaty" in that manner is incredibly rude and inappropriate. There are professional, discreet ways to address moisture without making someone feel embarrassed or ashamed of their body. The fact that half the service had already been completed before this suddenly became an issue also made me seriously question the technician's judgment and experience. If it was genuinely unsafe to wax her, why was the service started in the first place? This is also a waxing salon with fans and powder available to help keep the skin dry. What made the situation even worse was what happened afterward. My sister called me on FaceTime while she was there and was literally in tears trying to advocate for herself and explain that the situation had made her uncomfortable. When my other younger sister later called the salon for more information, the woman at the front desk described my sister as "aggressive" and said she had made the staff uncomfortable. Well let me tell you, I'm the oldest sister and our youngest sister doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. It made me so sad to see her shakily defending herself. She was upset, embarrassed, and trying to stand up for herself while crying -- not behaving aggressively. All the receptionist had to do was apologize! Getting defensive with emotional clients is never the answer. If you are the owner please review the call as they are all recorded. My sister also told me that after the waxing specialist left the room, she overheard waxers giggling nearby. I cannot say whether they were laughing about her, and I won't pretend to know that. But in that moment, after she had already been made to feel embarrassed and vulnerable, hearing staff giggling only made her feel even more humiliated. Timing, discretion, and basic emotional awareness matter enormously in intimate services like waxing. At the end of the day, this felt like an inexperienced waxer and a scheduling problem being turned into my sister's fault, while her feelings were completely dismissed. A client should never leave a waxing appointment feeling ashamed of a normal bodily response, humiliated, and then be labeled "aggressive" simply for saying she felt uncomfortable. Stopping a service halfway through, giving a questionable explanation, making the client feel embarrassed, and then dismissing her reaction afterward is unacceptable. I would not recommend this location based on how this was handled. SHAME ON YOU ALL YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. MEANGIRL ACTIVITIES AT THIS LOCATION!!!! also not this is not the first time ive heard of other issues at this location. DO NOT LET THE FOUR STARS FOOL YOU. TERRIBLE STAFF HERE.

Anyway, I've seen this place on my way to work a few times and last Friday I decided that I had enough of the razor blades. From booking an appointment, to being checked in, waxed and leaving was painless, literally. First, I went to their website and they had multiple time slots open, so I booked my appointment. Upon my arrival I was greeted by the employee at the front who was super sweet. I was then called in about 5 minutes later by Heather. The waxing room was clean, the bed/table was soft and there was music playing. Also taking into account that I went to the same women for over 10 years, so nobody's been so up close and personal since her. Now, let's get to the goods, the wax. The wax was legit painless. It's purple and I believe it's referred to as hard wax, so none of those fabric strips are involved in ripping the wax off your skin. No irritation, no ingrowns, nothing. I don't have a lot of eyebrow, let's get that clear, but I do know they could have been shaped better. Other places I've been too may take an extra minute or two to make sure the shape is perfect. This was super quick and you can tell. Bikini Wax - I get this type of wax all the time, I've got a wax lady and god do I regret cheating on her. The lady literally left me bleeding. I have NEVER bled before. And she had the audacity to tell me that my skin is sensitive and that this is normal. Maybe it is, but I have definitely never bled before. Like... what the hell?! The wax wasn't even super clean so I had to go back in a day or two later to fix it up a little. Safe to say I will not be going back and I genuinely couldn't even try to pretend to recommend it. After sitting I realized they had not sat me with Alicia and the tech looked visibly annoyed and handed me a bunch of gel color books. When I mentioned that I had an appointment with Alicia, another tech came over and explained that Alicia was with another customer and that me booking with her did not guarantee me getting her. I was baffled and asked why. She explained that I had not made a note that I really wanted to see Alicia they had sat me with the next available tech - which is bizarre. The girl I had was rude and rushed through the entire pedicure. She massaged my feet for about 90 seconds. The techs are unwelcoming and it was an uncomfortable experience. In addition to the hype, I heard that they offered Dazzle Dry, a service that was new to me but was essentially a long-lasting manicure without the need for harsh gel polish and all of the issues that go along with that. I read several reviews for this original location and saw that Kitty was highly recommended, so I booked an appointment with her on their website. I arrived at the salon and found it clean, modern, and cozy, but a bit cramped. I checked in at the front desk and was told to sit at the last desk, where my manicure then began. My technician was extremely careful and detailed. She filed my nails perfectly, was very gentle while trimming my cuticles, and expertly painted each digit. However, I did notice that she followed a slightly different process than on the Dazzle Dry website in that she did not leave a lot of time between each coat and let the top coat dry for 10 minutes (rather than 5) before applying the finishing oil. (I gave it some time before I wrote this review to see how that would affect the length of the manicure, but it lasted for over two weeks! I even heavily cleaned my apartment during that time and did not experience any chipping. I was impressed!) As my treatment was wrapping up, I heard someone call out for "Kitty", but she was addressing an entirely different woman. It was at that point that I realized that I had been engaging with another beautician. I did not want to make a big deal out of it, but I asked the front desk attendant who had worked on me, and she said "Yolanda". I was a bit annoyed that they had altered my appointment without saying anything to me, but since Yolanda had done such a nice job, I just let it go.
