I regret writing this about a mom-and-pop business. For that I am sorry, but the food was just too…read moreterrible. /// My expectations are low for Berks, so I adapt my taste and am usually satisfied with so-so food - just throw hot oil on it! However, this was an inedible insult to a paying customer and to Chinese-American takeout. Go to Wonderful House instead. "China Moon is the best in Berks!" a Berks native told me ; "it's been around for decades!" he said. Out of courtesy and loyalty to a friend; I tried it, even though I'd seen the bad reviews. Because he is a friend, I feel bad writing this review, but maybe it will help YOU avoid major disappointment. I hope my friend is not on Yelp. SUMMARY: The owners were nice, I chatted in Mandarin with the lady, so I thought I'd get extra attention to my food. (I am Asian) ** 0/5 The kung pao chicken was fried like general tso chicken (but smaller chunks), and this chicken tasted like it was fried a day or two before; hard and chewy, like I couldn't find the chicken, almost like gristle. Like they keep a giant batch in their walk in cooler, to use on multiple chicken dishes. I hate the coated chicken when it's not supposed to be breaded. ** 2/5 The house mei fun noodles was very watery, no sense of stir fry. like it was stir fried then someone added too much broth to the wok. but if you don't know it's not supposed to be wet, it might be good (like a 3). Not enough vegetables, maybe 10 shreds/pieces of chinese cabbage. too soupy. The roast pork was blackish gray, chewy/hard. I threw those out. ** 0/5 The hot and sour soup was horrible. It was sooo SWEET and they added rice noodle (yuck!); and egg looked like someone scrambled it like no discernible egg. Not very sour. No pickled mustard or bamboo shoots. The tofu was in chunky squares, not slivers (like matchsticks). There may have been pork in it, I can't remember. Sorry I didn't take photos. i didn't plan to write this review. HOPE IT HELPS! (but look at their website; this home page photo is clearly not something they serve customers) https://www.chinamoonss.com/ and fellow Asian

Can only rate full stars but my actual rating is 3.5 stars. Greater than then 3 but less than 4…read more My experience is this..... The food tastes good and the variety on the menu is good. So I can recommend but... My only issue is that the vegetables in the food I order tend to be mostly carrots and cabbage? And it seems that the last few times I ate takeout from here, the vegetables were pretty scarce. Does anyone else wonder what happened to baby corn, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, and onions? It seems that peas, carrots, and big chunks of broccoli are all you get anymore. Not that I do not like those three vegetables but the broccoli could be cut smaller and greater variety of vegetables could be added.

The food tasted great, but it does not make up for our poor customer service experience…read more The customer service is awful. I ordered over $40 worth of food for a family of 6. We wanted to try the cheese wonton, so we got an order of 6. I picked up the order, and drove home. When we went to eat the wonton, there were only 4, which is not enough to feed the group of six. We called to let them know that 2 had been missing. The woman apologized and said they'd replace them now or credit for next visit. We told them we were too far and would appreciate the credit. A few minutes later, a gentleman called and told us we were incorrect and it was impossible for there to be 4 wonton because there were 6 wonton in all of the bags they prep. We let them know there were indeed only four due to not having enough for our party of six. Later, ANOTHER woman called to once again say it is impossible for us to have only received 4 wonton and that it may have fallen in the larger bag or even in the car (which is impossible since I tied the bag walking out of the restaurant). It's very sad to lose a customer because they insist that we were incorrect even though we did not have enough for our entire group. The restaurant will not go bankrupt due to a $3 credit and just apologizing for the mistake. The issue was not resolved, and we will not be returning.

Worked at Chinese restaurant back-in-the-day when dishes were scratch made with a bounty of…read morevegetables. Now-a-days sickening sweet entrees, tasteless sauces, & barely a vegetable in sight force me to be a tough critic. Wong's is the best of what remains in the area. While it's not the cuisne of yesteryear, they do a good job on common dishes at a great value. Several visits & never a screw-up on the order. Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, & Pepper Steak, ordered large, containers were packed to brim, each dish had significant amount of meat. Beef LoMein was not just noodles but decent amount of meat & fair variety of veggies. Egg rolls are big and round, crispy not greasy. Fried dumpling order has 8 large dough pockets with ginger dipping sauce. $60, husband & I ate for 3 days off this order & were given free sodas to boot. Downside, they offer a very limited menu. You won't find Peking Duck, Crab Rangoon, Sweet & Sour Pork or even fortune cookies. But I'll take a few things done well over a large menu poorly executed. Take-out only.
