This jeweler should be far more well known than he is! The location is convenient for the Upper West Side, on Amsterdam Avenue near 104th Street. I've taken a number of items to be repaired. The proprietor is reliable and fast! The outside of the store is not terribly inviting, nor is the necessary bullet proof glass when you come in but it is so worth it! Recently when I was having surgery, my wedding ring got lost. We went to DRD to get a new one. Elizer had me try on a number of ring sizes before we found the right size. I was getting a plain gold band. He gave me a number for us to look at. I chose one, and it was ready two days later! read more

By far the most trustworthy and reliable jeweler and watch repair shop on the UWS. I have brought multiple watches here for battery replacements ($5-7) and repair ($25) as well as jewels for appraisal. Each time, cost has been a supremely affordable with quality service. The one time I made the mistake of bringing my father's vintage watch to another shop (Sergey Jewel Co. on Columbus), the jeweler there charged me $35 for a battery replacement but ended up breaking the watch stem and quoted over $200 for repairs! I took my watch to DRD the next day and the owner had it repaired within a day for $25. I happily paid $40 because I was so grateful. Seriously, DRD is the only place in the neighborhood any one should consider for their watch and jewelry needs. If you miss store hours, trust me it's worth it to wait for DRD-- you will have peace of mind you're getting honest and quality work done on your items. read more

I needed a watch battery replaced -- it's a little fiddly; I've had other watch shops refuse to open it up before now, so it was a huge relief when he changed the battery and set the time in 2 minutes flat. Seeing many finished watches displayed in the shop, I asked if he had a strap as well -- yes, he said, "this is a number 12," and pulled out a box with about 25 different choices. The band on my Polar heart rate monitor watch broke and even tho the YouTube videos made it look easy to replace, it wasn't. Turns out the pins were rusted and bent. The other jewelry repair place in the area just shook their head at it. Found this place on Yelp and came to replace a watch battery on a Chinese watch and fix an Invicta watch with a broken pin. The service was incredibly fast, under 5 minutes, and prices were reasonable. I am impressed! I found DRD by using Yelp, so thanks, fellow Yelpers! I stopped in this morning and was incredibly pleased with the quick, friendly service I received. I had a number of watches from the past 20 years of my life, and wanted to discuss options for band adjustment and batteries. The gentleman at DRD was personable and honest. When I returned a half hour later, he had adjusted one band, determined that another could not be adjusted, and showed me that another watch had internal battery damage and could not be saved. Do not come here to get your watch bracelet (especially of a Seiko) resized. He lost/removed multiple of the collars for my watch link pins during the resizing, resulting in the pins coming loose/sliding out of the links. Returned later in an attempt to get the problem fixed. However, the same problem recurred later with one of the other pins. Had to go to another store to fix the botched resizing. Another pin was bent during the initial resizing as well. Will never return here. read more

This little unassuming shop is great for repairing watches & supplying replacement parts for watches. Brought my 12 year old Seiko to this place for a replacement pin for the steel bracelet after searching at 5 different watch/ jewelry shops from Brooklyn to Manhattan. After digging around his small parts box for 5 minutes, he managed to find the right size pin. I've taken another watch there for repair since then. Came to get 4 watch batteries replaced...he charged me for the 4 batteries, but when I got home, one of the watches still was not working. I believe the watch is just broken, but he should have noticed the watch wasn't working after he put the new battery in as it has a second hand. The lady told me that it would take more than a few minutes (bad sign, I should have gone somewhere else) When I came back to get my watch it was all scratched on the back in two places, probably they had no clue how to open it. I cracked the crystal on my favorite watch brought it to Drd Jewelry and it looks brand new. 25 dollars for the watch face, when he opened it up he noticed a loose screw on the automatic mechanism and replaced it for an extra 5 dollars.
