I contacted Ali at drainhelp.com because I had gotten an estimate from another plumber who said they were going to charge $700 to fix a problem with my kitchen sink, and my husband and son and friends all thought that was very high. Ali said he didn't think there was a problem that should cost that much, even after I told him, that the first plumber said he would have to go under the house because the fixings were wrong. Ali then did the work without giving an estimate. By the time he was done, he gave me a bill for $1985.00. He told me that $1200.00 was for the problem with the drain. The rest was for fixing a copper pipe that he discovered was leaking. When I asked Ali to separate out the cost, I noted that he charged $500.00 more than the first plumber was going to charge. His claim was that the extra charge was for hydro-jetting the line. He said any other plumber would charge $700.00 just for the hydro-jet. There are several problems with this claim. #1. The first plumber was also going to hydro-jet, and the cost for that was included in his estimate. #2. Ali rebuilt the plumbing where the clog was, and took the clog away. Once the clog was taken away, there was no need for hydro-jet. I was told this by Dennis, the plumber that Ali hired to come in and fix the copper pipe. I asked Dennis what he got paid to fix the copper pipe. He said he was paid $265. If $1200 was the amount that I paid for the drain, $785 is what I paid for the copper pipe. Even Dennis was appalled. The guy who did it got $265.00 and he who did nothing got $520.00. Dennis told me that Ali was doing this to a lot of people and he told me a lot of people are mad at him. When Ali's other worker cut a hole to gain access to the pipes under the house, he didn't start from the ground up to avoid cutting away too much siding. The point was to cut away siding to get UNDER the house, where there was no actual wall. From a standing position, he reached out with an angle grinder and began cutting away siding from 42" above the ground. He cut off much more siding than he needed to, leaving a huge hole for my husband to fix. The neighbors all got a good laugh at that. They all said that had to be one stupid plumber. His worker also cut into the cement driveway with his angle grinder. Ali told me that there was a lot of water under the house. He called Superdry. He said that they would get it all dried out underneath, and he said there would be no more leaks when he left, so that we could be assured everything would stay dry. When my husband was fixing the siding and creating a hatch for access to the plumbing, he noticed water dripping. He first thought it was a leak from the pipes that Ali put in. He then saw that that there was a pipe that was entirely open and not attached to anything leading to a drain. In other words, not leaking, but water running freely from it. This pipe was directly in front of where the plumbers were working. My husband first thought that there was also a leak from the kitchen pipes that Ali had worked on, so we called Ali and asked him to fix it. Ali determined that water was only coming from the wide open pipe, so he did nothing. I asked him why he didn't tell us about the wide open pipe that was right in front of him and his response was that they came to fix the drain, and didn't see the pipe that was right in front of him. I reminded him that he also told us that there would be no more leaks under the house when he was done, and he just shrugged. Our neighbors saw what happened and recommended a plumber to come and fix what Ali left behind. That plumber came to give us an estimate. He saw what Ali did and said he would have charged $400.00 to do the job that Ali had done, only he would have used pipes that were up to code. He said a plumber can lose their license for putting pipe that is not up to code and he told us we should call the contractors board. He said he would also have to charge $400.00 to fix it because he would not jeopardize his license by leaving 1 1/2" pipes where there should be 2" pipes. He said that it will back up on us again. He said he would connect the pipe that had been left wide open, which turned out to be the pipe for the laundry, to the pipe leading to the drain. He said, rightfully, Ali should fix it and that what he charged was overpriced, even if he had charged half. I told him that Ali doesn't care about any of that and wouldn't fix it. He told me that the contractors board would be sure to help me because they want to crack down on these crooks. I tried again with Ali. I told him that another plumber told me that he should have used a 2" pipe to connect the work he did on the kitchen to the 3" drain pipe in order to keep to code. Ali told me that the entire house has 1 1/2" pipes, so he cannot connect a 2" lateral pipe to a 1 1/2" pipe because there is no way to do that without it leaking. It would appear that he is not familiar with combination fittings. read more

Called on a Friday night at 7pm after discovering a severe drainage issue under my tile and stone patio. Told the operator I needed someone asap Sat AM and Ali and his assistant showed at 5:30am right on time in the dark as promised. He first assessed and diagnosed the problem using cam and jetting for $285 for a few hrs. Lines could not be cleared as the problem was severe and could only be resolved with jackhammering and digging up the 4" slab and patio tile (palm root system developed in pvc line over years). He Communicated continously via text and phone to transmit progress and photos to get better informed. They diagnosed the problem, were not afraid to get down and dirty, cutting, jetting and blasting pipe in muddy ditches 3 feet deep. Replaced sump pump, installed new abs joints throughout 2 critical parts of the underground storm drain system. they didn't waste time, were respectable, cleaned up after themselves and most importantly worked within quoted price which was fair. Would certainly recommend them if you have a serious problem if you want a no-nonsense plumbing expert who wants to get the job done right. UPDATE My 1959 home had not only rotting cast iron rotting pipe, but years of neglect from shotty patchwork by mickey-mouse plumbers using garden hoses for connections under my home. I made the tough and expensive decision to replumb my entire house (water and gas). I like responsive people who communicate well. I of course, contacted Drain Help. After mutual assent on price to complete the job, work promptly began. Don dedicated nearly 3 weeks of his life on my plumbing upgrade project. He oversaw the entire permitting process which i required, and he regularly reminded me not to worry, he guarantees his work. He showed up regularly was thorough and diligent in his efforts and explanations. It was a complex job that needed a contractor who would be patient and attentive. He recently came back to install all my new plumbing trim (mostly European and small branded items, not your out of the box home Depot crap) Don and Ali are genuinely the kind of people that want to get it right the first time and want to leave you a satisfied customer. This company is a TOTAL RIP-OFF. $650 for 15 minutes of work!!! What?! I I feel completely taken advantage of and I am so upset. My husband called this company to come look at our backed up sewer main at a property we recently purchased. Ali was able to come to the house within an hour and I met him there. He said that since there was no visible outflow that he would have to access the pipe from the roof which was more complicated/costly. He said he would identify the problem using high his high tech camera equipment and then he would resolve the backup for $650. He made it sound like a complicated process. He said that he "doesn't double dip", so if there was a bigger problem that needed more extensive repairs, the $650 would go toward the broader repair costs. I was an idiot and agreed to have him do the work even though it sounded expensive. After 15 minutes he tells me that they identified the problem and flushed the line and he showed me on the screen the roots that were compromising the old cast iron pipe and said it would cost $7,200 to replace the line to the city line. I did not want to have him replace the line and I asked him how 15 minutes of work could cost me $650, and he said that he was using expensive equipment that required two people, etc. I felt so dumb but felt obligated to pay him since I had verbally agreed. I did not receive any invoice or warranty. My husband called him and he was very defensive, etc. and said we had a 90 day warranty on the repair which he would email to us (2 days have passed and still nothing). We since have reviewed other reviews and see that our experience wasn't unique. We also subsequently called another plumber who offered and provided a FREE scoping of the line and estimate. (Their quote was much more reasonable FYI). I believe that DrainHelp.com inflates their prices based on their perceived gullibility of their clients. Drain Help was amazing! Our sewer line was clogged because of tree roots. Our HOA approved things Monday evening and said that we should contact Drain Help to set up an appointment. The next day when I called them, they said that Ali (Drain Help) is already on his way to survey and take pictures inside the sewer line. I was amazed! Tuesday, Ali took pictures inside the sewer line, marked the areas where the damage had occurred. He also called for the dig alerts (Companies such as AT&T, Time Warner, Cox, etc.) By the next morning, all of the dig alerts had been done. Wednesday, Ali was in constant contact with the city to get all of the permits needed to start digging. Part of the damage was under the grass and the other part was under the street. So, he was also in contact with city waste management to come and fix their area. Thursday, Drain Help's crew, Dennis and Adam dug about six feet deep in the grass area to repair the sewer line. They spent a half of a day digging, putting new pipe in, and filling the hole back with the dirt. They also added two new clean outs to help with future problems. This wasn't expected, but was a nice surprise! While this was happening, Ali was constantly on the phone with city waste management to get them to come out as soon as possible. With Ali's persistence, he told me that they will be there Friday morning. Friday, the city waste management had come out by 9:00. Ali (Drain Help) was there to greet them and update them on anything they needed. I felt so good to know that he was taking care of everything! The city was done by 4:00 that afternoon. Between getting permits, Drain Help doing their work, and the city coming out to do their part, I thought it would take at least a couple of weeks. However, do to Ali's persistence and hard work the job was done in only 4 days!!! I am very pleased with Drain Help and would not hesitate to hire them for any job in the future. I had two DrainHelp.com service calls today for my kitchen sink. Both were fast, friendly, and priced at the low end of the initial estimate range. One problem was a clogged garbage disposal and sink, and the other issue was low water pressure coming out of the faucet. A plumber from another company had come over earlier in the day but didn't have the tools to unclog the sink, (incorrectly) assessed that a hose needed replacement to improve the water pressure, and then announced he couldn't finish the work until another day. As soon as he left (with water pressure still low and sink still clogged) I called DrainHelp.com. Their staff setup an appointment at 6pm the same day. I received a call shortly after 2pm asking if I was available early, which I was, so Ali arrived a short time thereafter with a van and trailer full of tools. Ironically, he unclogged my sink within minutes using only his hands and ingenuity. I immediately contacted my landlord requesting approval to have DrainHelp.com fix the water pressure problem instead of his original plumber. He agreed, I called DrainHelp.com again, left a message, got a friendly call back minutes later, and Don arrived in no time. Don provided great service removing a tiny yet tricky clog deep inside our kitchen faucet. He clearly knows his stuff and communicates it well. He was done before 6pm. I am very impressed and pleased with the high level of professionalism and the quality of their customer service. I own a condo on the 2nd floor and I had an emergency at 8pm at night on a Thursday. My tenants were complaining about the toilet not flushing and water coming back up in the sink as well as the bathtub. I had a major flood this week in all three bathrooms, which of course happened after hours. I quickly searched Yelp and found DrainHELP.com with their $77 fee regardless of the time. I was thrilled! Ali came out at 1 AM and fixed the clog and gave me a 1 month warranty. He was very knowledgeable and told me I might have a problem with tree roots. Good thing for the warranty, because he was back out the next night when it clogged again. He ran the camera and did find there were tree roots. Ugh! I didn't have the money to do the repair that night so decided to see how long I could go before it got bad again. Well it wasn't even a week and poor Ali is headed back over here again tonight. I got it fixed this time, since it looks like my luck has run out! Sewer backups are a mess that need immediate attention but are scary when thinking about potential costs. We called a national chain company who came out but seemed more interested in charging me outrageous prices for what I could see with implications about what we couldn't see then getting the job done. Then I called DrainHelp.com. They responded quickly, tried their most inexpensive fix first and without hesitation. When that didn't work they provided a FREE video scope of my sewer line and got things flowing again quickly and at half the price of the other guys. In that process they identified my line, cleanouts, and the point of my problem (roots). They even provided me with a three month guarentee...even with my roots. Contacted them via chat and they responded immediately. i was able to set up an appointment that night after i got off work which was great. and i wasnt getting charged extra for it! The techniation, Ali, came right on the dot and even the company called me a ltitle before just to confirm my address and everythign. the person on the phone was super friendly and professional. Ali came and was done fixing both sinks in like 15 minutes! he was really nice and told my roommate and i what not to do to avoid more backups. I will definitely use this service again. Finally, DrainHelp.com, after all others failed, correctly diagnosed my septic line problem. Ali, the owner/operator, came over with his camera tracker, and after a few passes, to be sure, picked up an entire series of lengthwise cracks. And you could see, after a lot of fiddling with the camera focus, etc, that the pipe, in general, was in the process of collapsing. It was already an oval and splitting. The thing I love about his company, is that, like with my last problem, he got his crew over, and they began digging THAT DAY!! They dug and worked through the weekend, and got it fixed. The dang pipe was white PVC, not ABS. No wonder it was breaking down. And the price? Again, it was very reasonable. The two sinks in the kitchen were blocked. I spent 4+ hours trying to snake out the old cast iron pipes with no success. I called DrainHelp on a Sunday at 7pm. Francko showed up at 8pm and got to work immediately. He had to run his snake more than 40 feet down to get the pipe unblocked. He even went under the house into the crawl space to make sure that there was no leakage or worse maybe a broken pipe. He explained why this problem occurred and made recommends on how to remedy it. Francko was very courteous, professional and efficient. Within about an hour everything was working and life was good again. Recently we had a plumbing emergency(raw sewage backing up in 2 bathrooms at 11:00 p.m. on a Sat. night. After calling several 24/7 plumbing companies from the yellow pages, DrainHelp was the only one to respond and sent Ali who arrived within the hour. He immediately took charge, scoped and cleared the pipe from the house to the street. He then gave us excellent advice to replace the 65 year old leaking corroded cast-iron pipe and gave us a very fair price. Ali is a savior. We had a major tree root invasion that caused a complete blockage in the main drain. To top it off it was late at night and no one else to call except drain help. Ali showed up early in the morning and got to work. He tried to jet and clear the pipes only to reveal the worst case scenario, cracked pipes. This was major work that required replacement of the pipes that were cracked. Jack hammering of concrete etc. Although this was a big job Ali tackled it with ease and could have finished it a lot faster if the hoa was responsive. Ali is very professional and I felt as if he had my best interest at heart. I had to leave town for a family emergency and Ali took care of it while I had to be away.
