Bob Laudette, owner of James Carboni Plumbing and Heating…read morefor over 33 years, was negligent in fulfilling his contract upon the installation of the furnace on December 3, 2019.  "ALL WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN A NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND WILL MEET OR EXCEED ALL STATE AND LOCAL CODES."   Obviously he did not inspect the installation of the project on December 3 or he was not up to date on building codes.  The building inspector gave him 3 citations for code violations.The chimney clean out door was cemented ..a potential fire hazard. Contrary to Bob Laudette's explanation, the chimney was serviced prior to installation and given a stamp of approval!  The oil line was not protected properly and would cause a major oil leak if someone tripped over it and dislodged it; the duct work/ bonnet was installed with major gaps heating the basement to over 90 degrees. Besides the citations for code violations, Bob Laudette has ignored issues with the furnace and units: combustion issues with small explosions, malfunctioning humidifier, blower so powerful it rattles doors, oil leaks, filters to keep the blower working properly and to insure quality of inside air malfunctioning, extensive dust, uniform distribution of heat is deplorable with the basement heated at 90 degrees and the upstairs rooms are cold. All this for $7500? Now Bob Laudette wants to come and service the new furnace three months later after he ignored numerous calls in January and in fact cancelled a service call. At that point, I had to call reputable and licensed contractors to check out the furnace but the problems still persist. I contacted other agencies for help.  Consumer Protection who has limited authority suggested I pursue legal representation.  My mother, Amelia Wakely, expected and paid for what she thought was an up to date working oil furnace. Why would anyone keep a lemon; deal with a company who fails to treat a client in a professional manner or not at all; who does substandard work and delivers a defective product and writes they have a great business ethic!  Could Bob Laudette possibly service the furnace in the future if he can't deliver an up to date American Standard working furnace now? My mother wants her money returned, the furnace and so forth removed, and the mess they left cleaned up. Bob Laudette did not install a system free of charge out of the goodness of his heart. Lastly, my mother's health living under these conditions has deteriorated since the furnace was installed December 3,2019 . With the pandemic, the directive now is to shelter in the safety and comfort of your home. The safety of her home is a health hazard. How insensitive Bob Laudette is to suggest this is a frivolous matter! Hopefully our experience will save someone from grief in the future! Photos supplied upon request!

I was told that there was another hose that needed to be replaced because it wasn't up to code. I was charged $700 for the replacement hose. The problem was not resolved, and when I called back to inform the plumber that the washing machine was still leaking, I was told to call an appliance tech because they don't repair washing machines. The plumber refused to refund me my money after I had explained that the leak had not been fixed, and the job was not resolved. Now I have to spend more money to have an appliance tech come out and assess the problem, and pay for any repairs. I was taken advantage of, for sure!

The mosquito tech suggested I have my A/C cleaned and serviced and I followed his advice. The techs were friendly and professional and arrived on time. They cleaned my compressor, checked my furnace and let me know I'm low on refrigerant. The temperature outside was cool for them to fill it so they will come back when it's hot out. Very pleased with the service and technicians. They sold me on the annual membership plan which made a lot of fiscal sense since I was going to pay for today's service and likely have them clean my furnace before Winter anyway. On July 9 2026, I had a terrible experience with Alvin's Plumbing and Heating LLC. Before scheduling, I called to ask about their diagnostic fees to estimate a under-sink filter leak repair. A representative told me it would cost $60 to send a technician, who would then give me a price estimate. However, when the technicians arrived, they never mentioned a hidden baseline fee of $195 just to touch the plumbing. One technician immediately began working without providing an upfront estimate. He cut one inch of a small 1/4" plastic pipe, which fixed the leak. When I asked for the total, he revealed the $195 charge. I was outraged by this hidden fee. Since he was already there, I asked about replacing a bathroom faucet. I explicitly asked if the $195 would be separate or if it would roll into the cost of the new job. They told me, "No, the $195 is going to roll into the cost of the additional job." The office quoted a total price of $225. I agreed to this. After the work was done, they wanted charge my credit card $420 ($195 + $225), completely going back on their word. I requested the manager's number to dispute this overcharge, but the owner refused to honor the agreed upon price. Despite multiple phone calls, I have not received a refund. This company uses misleading sales tactics, hides fees until the work is done, and takes advantage of old citizens. I am submitting an official complaint with Better Business Bureau

Two years ago we needed a new septic pump. Mascetti installed it and all seemed fine. Two years…read morelater, now, the pump failed. We texted and called Mascetti; no one got back to us. We had another septic company suggest it was a bad float (without seeing it). We paid an electrician who came out to fix the float $700 to fix a part which he thought caused the issue. A week later, the pump failed entirely. Both the septic guy and the electrician said the pump wasn't installed properly and wasn't the right type of pump to pump up a hill where our leaching fields are. Certainly, a new pump should last more than 2 years. We are now facing the cost of installing a new pump, on top of the sunk cost of $700.

To make matters worse, I was told that the diagnostic fee would be credited toward the repair. However, when I later called to schedule the repair and request that credit, I was met with an unprofessional response.the representative said she would "think about it." This experience was frustrating from start to finish. The misdiagnosis, lack of accountability, and failure to honor what was promised reflect very poorly on this company's professionalism and reliability. I would not recommend their services.

Have had R&R come out for various non-urgent repairs and boiler maintenance over the last 20 years…read more A handful of aging copper pipe joints/valves replaced, and most recently a corroded steam pipe. I've only one issue in the distant past with a replaced outdoor spigot that broke after one season, and they came right out, determined that the original part wasn't for outdoor use and replaced at no charge. Reasonable prices and Ron is a wealth of knowledge and experience.
