I would not recommend staying at this house, she is very disrespectful to her tenants especially when they are 20-30s aged. She has entered rooms without asking, she set up baby monitors that record audio and visual in public spaces, calls/texts frequently with passive aggressive messages for example she called me on my way back from work to say that my (115lbs) footsteps were too loud on the baby monitors, she eliminated use of the kitchen for everyone in the house halfway through my stay, she refused to return my security deposit, she drinks/eats people's food/beverages, and many other things. Meanwhile many of the rooms were not up to standard, I was on the second floor and when people in the third floor would shower it would rain down in my bathroom from the light. Other rooms suffered water damage/were leaking. Please do not stay in this house!

The knock is that we stayed four more nights. That part was 2-stars. The reason -- motel rooms were way more expensive than the meager amenities and spartan conditions we experienced. Some wall outlets work. Shower is good. If it were $150/night less costly it would have been a good deal. Definitely won't stay there again. Definitely will attend another wedding there.

We had a view from the second floor across the street to Gloucester Bay and the famous mariners statue. Downtown is a short walk in one direction, and the bridge that is seen on Wicked Tuna a short walk in the opposite direction. There is a fabulous waterfront park a short distance away with beautiful views for a hike. We did not use our car during the visit. Since they had availability, we were taken on a tour and were able to choose our room. Everything was in working order, with the room very large and comfortable. We stayed over Wednesday night and the evening "sing was directly below our room. I was reminded for some reason to call and catch up with my sweat lodge hippy quaker sister and see how she was doing (just fine thanks). I am sure it was our imagination, but the following morning we heard something scurrying across the roof. My wide asked if I thought it was the famous muffin bunny. I checked the door, and there was the muffin basket. We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn, and in Gloucester. If you visit the Inn, and are staying on the second floor, pack light as the stairway is a bit steep.

The breakfast is appropriately titled the "feast" and has some excellent choices. Our favorite were the scones and apricot bread. The location is prime and just outside of the main harbor in Rockport and walking distance to everything in town (which is true of just about everything in Rockport anyway). They even had a fire going every night and we got the chance to read with a group by the fire which was really fun. The price was very good and the Tuck Inn is highly recommended!

Fruit, coffee cake or a pastry, a smoothie in a champagne type glass and then the main course - whether it is an egg Benedict Oscar or french toast made from Portuguese sweet bread. Excellent coffee too - which is not a small thing. We had room 7 - which is on the first floor and facing street. I wish there was a front porch - that would be excellent. It is large with the bedroom separate from the sitting room. Which was good to buffer my swearing and crying when the Yankees lost to the Astros in Game 6. My only deductions are really House based and not based on anything that occurred. The communal area is basically the 10 seat table in a room that requires negotiation to navigate around when full during breakfast. The small piano room and "office" room are also downstairs. The house is not conducive to communal activities - it is what it is. Room 7 is adjacent to breakfast room. In fact two auxiliary doors, including a door in the bathroom are immediate to breakfast. I'm not so concerned I could make out conversations during the other breakfast time (there are two sittings), I'm more concerned they could hear what was happening on my side of the door :). And yes, the house limits guests from not having one communal breakfast. There is an 8 AM and 9 AM sitting. The Inn is an easy walk to Bear Neck and all the shops. The area is lovely and so are the shopkeepers. I love to give my business to these people rather than some corporate chain. If there's a show at Gloucester Stage or Shalin Lui, I'd make a long weekend and stay here for sure.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, cozy, and affordable. Each morning guests are treated to a delectable gourmet breakfast that will start your day off right and leave you full till dinner time. Inn keepers Debbie and Nick (and Jim too of course) go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and at home. Every July 4th, guests are treated to a festive outdoor BBQ picnic and afterwards we sit to enjoy the local holiday parade that goes right by the Inn's front door. This is truely our home away from home and I'd recommend it to anyone.

We slept in the pebble beach room. What a view!!! Nice sunset, looking over the ocean. In the morning they prepare a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, cake, bread and eggs, and pancakes. Coffee is per machine which gives everybody a wide variety of flavors and let you decide how strong you'd like your coffee. Then when you're set and prepared for breakfast you can sit outside on the porch (I love porches!!!) or in the garden at the pond. Then again start enjoying. The sunrise, the nice environment and stroll a bit up and down the street afterwards... It's so lovely here. The room itself was nice and comfortable but still a star is missing as we had to shower in the bathtub. Normally that's not a big problem, but as we sere standing in the tub under the roof you have to lean sideways not to bump your head and there is no place to put the shower head. So have to keep it in your hands. So while your standing in the tub, holding the shower head, leaning sideways you also have to wash yourself. I think this is a big minus for everybody taller then 5 ft ;)

I booked at this Inn for the last day of the Indigenous People's day weekend to wake up on my…read morebirthday, take some photographs of nature and then head home to be with family. A bad nor'easter was forecast with AAA warning against driving and some east coast governors warning against being on the roads. I'm 69 and a lung cancer survivor so I tend to err on the side of safety. I emailed the Inn and asked if my booking could be transferred to the Tuesday of the following week, or the Monday of the week after that. I still work so my bookings depend on when I have time, and too, I was careful to keep it near a similar day to what I had booked. Even though it is low season I wanted to be sure to not inconvenience the Inn. I was met with arrogance and a "sure everyone wants good weather" response, which was flabbergasting. They suggested I come the following day - still high winds and lashing rain - and if not I would forfeit the money I paid close to $400. I was stupefied by their response and will ensure that I warn everyone of this place of bad manners and poor business nous.

The real special times are before and after the estate opens for the day, because you really feel like you have the place to yourself. I walked up to the mansion for sunset, and it was stunning! They can also help get you booked on guided house or kayak tours, and you get free access to Crane Beach with towels and tote bags! If you're looking for a peaceful coastal getaway, this is the place!

This inn is a photographer's paradise whose main features are the massive picture windows in the rooms combined with the inn's position overlooking an expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear morning in the back yard of the inn (house rule: stay off the rocks!) I have caught some of the most beautiful Atlantic sunrises of my photography career. Rooms are very well maintained with a very nice gilded age air. Inn keeper Randy is very helpful and thorough and explains things clearly and is very accommodating. Mind you this not a traditional bed and breakfast, it has no expansive common areas or on-site kitchen. Breakfast is provided off site via voucher at another very nice location with everything you may want or need. If you seek a peaceful out of the hustle location with opportunity for peaceful and serene Atlantic Ocean views Quarterdeck Inn by the Sea is practically unbeatable. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and we loved it. It's small-only 3 available bedrooms, in a beautiful house that Lisa and her husband live in. We stayed in the 'Ocean Air Suite.' The rooftop patio wasn't open, but it was a beautiful room, and was nice to have our own bathroom. They don't offer a full breakfast, but they have coffee and tea and muffins in one of the rooms downstairs. Lisa is friendly, hilarious, and very helpful with suggestions/information on what to do in Gloucester, but still gives you enough space to do your own thing. It's about a 15 min. walk to downtown/Main St, and it's a nice walk along the water (lined with millions of American flags, which is pretty hilarious; or maybe pretty and hilarious). It is right along whatever that main road is, which has pretty heavy traffic in the summer (lots of loud motorcycles), so it was a bit loud at times-though we had our windows open the whole time to get the full 'ocean air' effect.
