It's beautiful and very old New England - meaning mainly every time you take a step it makes a huge creak. I feel sorry for any teenager that might have grown up in this house because you had NO chance of sneaking out at night ;). The rooms are spacious and very nicely kept in an older style. The breakfast is appropriately titled the "feast" and has some excellent choices. Our favorite were the scones and apricot bread. The location is prime and just outside of the main harbor in Rockport and walking distance to everything in town (which is true of just about everything in Rockport anyway). They even had a fire going every night and we got the chance to read with a group by the fire which was really fun. The price was very good and the Tuck Inn is highly recommended!

Fruit, coffee cake or a pastry, a smoothie in a champagne type glass and then the main course - whether it is an egg Benedict Oscar or french toast made from Portuguese sweet bread. Excellent coffee too - which is not a small thing. We had room 7 - which is on the first floor and facing street. I wish there was a front porch - that would be excellent. It is large with the bedroom separate from the sitting room. Which was good to buffer my swearing and crying when the Yankees lost to the Astros in Game 6. My only deductions are really House based and not based on anything that occurred. The communal area is basically the 10 seat table in a room that requires negotiation to navigate around when full during breakfast. The small piano room and "office" room are also downstairs. The house is not conducive to communal activities - it is what it is. Room 7 is adjacent to breakfast room. In fact two auxiliary doors, including a door in the bathroom are immediate to breakfast. I'm not so concerned I could make out conversations during the other breakfast time (there are two sittings), I'm more concerned they could hear what was happening on my side of the door :). And yes, the house limits guests from not having one communal breakfast. There is an 8 AM and 9 AM sitting. The Inn is an easy walk to Bear Neck and all the shops. The area is lovely and so are the shopkeepers. I love to give my business to these people rather than some corporate chain. If there's a show at Gloucester Stage or Shalin Lui, I'd make a long weekend and stay here for sure.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, cozy, and affordable. Each morning guests are treated to a delectable gourmet breakfast that will start your day off right and leave you full till dinner time. Inn keepers Debbie and Nick (and Jim too of course) go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and at home. Every July 4th, guests are treated to a festive outdoor BBQ picnic and afterwards we sit to enjoy the local holiday parade that goes right by the Inn's front door. This is truely our home away from home and I'd recommend it to anyone.

This inn is a photographer's paradise whose main features are the massive picture windows in the rooms combined with the inn's position overlooking an expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear morning in the back yard of the inn (house rule: stay off the rocks!) I have caught some of the most beautiful Atlantic sunrises of my photography career. Rooms are very well maintained with a very nice gilded age air. Inn keeper Randy is very helpful and thorough and explains things clearly and is very accommodating. Mind you this not a traditional bed and breakfast, it has no expansive common areas or on-site kitchen. Breakfast is provided off site via voucher at another very nice location with everything you may want or need. If you seek a peaceful out of the hustle location with opportunity for peaceful and serene Atlantic Ocean views Quarterdeck Inn by the Sea is practically unbeatable. Highly recommended for photographers.

I loved sitting on the patio in the morning having coffee and watching the sun rise and seeing the boats going by. The suite had its own entrance and it was easily accessible to the street. The guest house sits on a quiet residential street but it's also walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, front beach and a performance theater. I would definitely recommend the mooring stone guest house.

My wife and I picked this B&B at random while surfing the internet and looking for a place to crash outside of Boston. We lucked out more than I could have hoped for. Mooring Stone takes it name from a large stone in the front yard, the kind they would sink to the bottom of the port with a tree through it so boats could tie up...hence, mooring stone. Anywho... The house is a cute little gingerbread number, clean rooms, quiet, and far enough from the strip of shops and eateries in Rockport that you feel like you're in another town (even though it's just a couple of blocks away). The breakfast part of the equation is served in a salvaged coast guard radio instrument house in the back yard in the middle of a beautiful garden. What really makes the Mooring Stone stand out for me is the proprietor, Joyce. My wife and I hit it off with her within about two minutes of meeting her. She's a veritable fount of information about the area and can point tourists like us in the right direction. Moreover, we had so much fun chatting with her that we ended up spending almost two hours with her at breakfast (followed by a trip with her over to her house on the water at the port to see her renovation project). Sounds crazy, but we had more fun hanging out with her and talking about old New England houses than walking around town. I'm hoping that for our next trip to Boston we eschew staying in town and head back to visit this inn.

The room was clean although the décor a bit dated. We were happy that we actually received a real breakfast! During our stay, the innkeeper had been baking and wonderful aromas filled the entire inn. This scent made the inn feel homey and cozy. Included on site parking was another huge positive. We did not need the car during our stay in Rockport. Everything was in walking distance of the Lantana House.

We loved our room #3 with exposed wood beams in the ceiling and a very comfortable bed. The weather was cool that allowed us to keep our windows open so we could hear the church bell as it chimes hourly. We love Rockport and the Lantana House and would definitely stay again!! We slept in the pebble beach room. What a view!!! Nice sunset, looking over the ocean. In the morning they prepare a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, cake, bread and eggs, and pancakes. Coffee is per machine which gives everybody a wide variety of flavors and let you decide how strong you'd like your coffee. Then when you're set and prepared for breakfast you can sit outside on the porch (I love porches!!!) or in the garden at the pond. Then again start enjoying. The sunrise, the nice environment and stroll a bit up and down the street afterwards... It's so lovely here. The room itself was nice and comfortable but still a star is missing as we had to shower in the bathtub. Normally that's not a big problem, but as we sere standing in the tub under the roof you have to lean sideways not to bump your head and there is no place to put the shower head. So have to keep it in your hands. So while your standing in the tub, holding the shower head, leaning sideways you also have to wash yourself. I think this is a big minus for everybody taller then 5 ft ;)

The breakfasts are large and freshly cooked - this is not some hard roll and black coffee kind of place. The food is lovely prepared and served by the couple who run the inn. It is in a great location, just a few blocks from the center of town and the beach. And there is free parking! Always a good thing in Rockport. Next time we will stay there an entire week as there are lots of great little nooks (including an awesome porch) to read books. My only two suggestions are a.) change the light bulbs in the den as they are glaringly/blindingly white b.) add thick curtains in the bedroom so your not woken up at the crack of dawn.

Indulge in a few nights at Judy and Russ's immaculately renovated Greek Revival Inn. I found them on trip advisor after doing a quick google search. Everyone was raving about the place. I planned a 2-night getaway for me and my bf. Very reasonable rate - $125/night for Marga's room which had a private bath and four poster bed. Mind you, it was early season. I think normally this room goes for $150/night, which is still a great deal considering what you get in return. Their cheerful yellow house stands at the edge of "town" on a small hill next to a beautiful beech tree. You can walk to the Rockport attractions or to the commuter rail. Judy will give advice on dining options in Rockport and Gloucester. She has copies of all the menus from every restaurant nearby. The interior is immaculate and homey. Everything just so. The place is truly a labor of love for the owners - who are extremely friendly -- so friendly that I knew right away that they had to be from New York, not New England, if you know what I mean. There are only three rooms, so it feels intimate. The breakfast is awesome. Delicious homemade scones and granola, plus a hot dish, OJ, and coffee. In the afternoon Judy puts out baked goods and tea for her guests. She also makes your bed and restocks your room with bottled water. Judy subscribes to Martha Stewart Magazine and it shows. I personally appreciate that level of obsession. Lots of nice details to appreciate.
