This review comes after a terrible experience in the Palm Desert location, where I didn't even order after waiting for 45 minutes for service in a completely empty restaurant. I came to this location hoping for better service and to give the food a chance. I have been receiving ads relentlessly for the all-you-can-eat service. To my knowledge, there is no other Sushi restaurant in Coachella Valley that offers this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is slightly nicer than the Palm Desert location, although the tables have a sticky coating on them that feels like they are permanently dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, it looks worn down and cheap but that's not a problem for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Knowing that they have a separate menu for the all you can eat, we asked for that menu from the start. Just know that you'll have to cross reference the sheet that you fill out to order and the full menu to know what the food items are. This is very cumbersome, as the all-you-can-eat offerings are much less than the ones in the full menu. We were most disappointed that the sashimi is not offered. For $50 per person, this should not be the case. This is where I should've known that this all-you-can-eat menu is specifically designed to fill you up with the cheap stuff. Every single item that we ordered has a ridiculous amount of rice packed into it. There's so much rice that you have to chew for at least a minute and by that time, what you are ingesting is just a ball with the texture of mochi. Extremely dense and gummy. Any flavor coming from the fish is completely erased by the rice vinegar that the rice is seasoned with. As mentioned in other reviews, you must eat all the rice and everything you order or you'll be charged. By the time we were done eating our first roll, we realized that the amount of rice made the all-you-can-eat not worth it. You're better off buying single rolls for cheaper than the price of AYCE. And if you're doing that, there are much better sushi places than this to go to for the same price. I would be amiss if I didn't mention that my gf had bones in her salmon nigiri and hand roll, and was also found in the eel. She also had to eat each piece of these rolls in several bites because the amount of rice is incredible. I also want to be fair and say that this would've been perfectly acceptable flavor-wise if there wasn't so much rice. It just completely overpowers everything once you chew it. We enjoyed their fries, gyoza, and shumai, which are appetizers and are also part of AYCE. But that's not what you should go to a sushi restaurant imo. read more

The food has lost quality over the years. Recently went to try out the "all you can eat buffet" however they don't clearly state that EVERYONE at the table must order that. Me and my boyfriend went to have dinner here and they took forever to come and j get our drinks, once they brought our drinks they got our order and that took another long time. They didn't brings us silverware so we had to wait another 10mins for them to come give us some. Absolutely one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. The quality of the sushi was well below average -- fish didn't taste fresh, and presentation was sloppy. The server was inattentive and seemed overwhelmed, rarely checking in. To top it off, they overcharge, and instead of handling it respectfully, the manager told our server to count the sushi pieces with chopsticks at the table incredibly unprofessional and embarrassing. For the prices they charge, I expected at least decent service and fresh food. Instead, I got a disappointing meal, poor service, and a manager more focused on micromanaging than making things right. Looks like some things are getting back to normal. Our every 4 to 6 week trip to the desert for necessary doctor appointment is back on. No more telephone appointments. Click the link and the menu appears. I ordered the Dinner special two item combo, since we were a bit too late for the lunch special. My dish came with; miso soup, house salad, steamed rice, gyoza dumpling, shumai dumpling, teriyaki chicken and California roll. Daughter ordered the crunchy California roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the salad dressing and the teriyaki sauce covering the chicken. I look forward to our next visit. It was a day of adventures, which is another way of saying that I was delayed getting to my camping site. I thought I would treat myself to dinner and not have to deal with cooking in the dark. Alas, it was Valentines Day, and a poor decision for a one top to appear at a sushi restaurant. I considered bailing and getting a fish taco next door. Should have. Service was poor, confused, and inattentive. It took forty minutes to receive the soup and salad that came with the grilled mahi dinner. That only occurred because I advocated for it as my Server did not bother to keep me informed. Frankly, if I had not asked, I think she would've completely forgotten. I also ordered a salmon skin handroll. The skin was crispy and the kitchen was generous with it. On the other hand, it was lacking one of the other key ingredients touted on the menu, yamagobo, which is why I ordered it. That is pickled burdock, and it was a nice touch which conveyed something about the kitchen's intentions. The mahi was ok, once it finally arrived. I suspect that on another night, this would have been a pleasant dining experience. Before this pandemic, a responsible restaurant would have stopped accepting people once they were well beyond capacity. It's how you preserve reputation and thus long term viability. After this pandemic, I can't begrudge any business for trying to maximize its profits even at the expense of the customer experience. But that doesn't mean I need to reward them for that choice. Prepandemic, I would have given this place two stars because of the very poor experience. I thought I had already reviewed this place, as we've been here dozens of times, but Yelp keeps telling me I haven't so here goes: The food here is good enough that we will drive from La Quinta for it at least a couple of times a month. The prices are also very fair, and they can almost always get us in right away. We have also ordered carry-out and it's very good and a great deal for the cost. Service is excellent and very friendly. My only complaint is that the tables are sticky every time we go. It just seems like all of the the booths need a good, thorough wipe down. Mango tango roll is fire, I put hot sauce on mine but all the flavors together were just amazing! First time trying that roll as well. I always get the avocado roll with soy paper its my favorite! We went in for lunch, food was good. My daughter had sushi. I had combo lunch tempura and salmon it was good. We wanted to watch the us open tennis they had lots of tv screens. But no sports were on. We asked our server if she could put it on. She said only the manager can change the channels, he is out and takes the remote home with him. Very weird.
