Holy roasted marshmallows on Christmas Eve 2013 a woman ordered boneless spareribs from this place and receive an extra element to her order... I freaking cockroach!!!! Found on Facebook, Meaghan DeMerchant she has photos! I have ordered here before and I personally have never been fond of them... They're just gross so it's been year since my last order but I am so not surprised by this at all. Just driving by the place makes me feel dirty! read more

I have always enjoyed egg rolls and mushy pork from Dragon Phoenix. It's one of my favorite chinese takeout spots in Meriden. I will say that delivery hasn't been as fast as it used to but the food is still definitely worth it. read more

Good place for Chinese takeout. The prices are good, and you get lots of food. I'd say the food is better than lots of other places, even. It's also nostalgic for me because my middle school used to order Dragon Phoenix golden fingers for lunch once in a while. read more

My fiance and I have been ordering take-out from this place for quite awhile. It is the only place in Meriden we order Chineese from. The people there are fast and friendly. The food is the usual chinesse greasy spoon type. Its not fancy, but you get what you pay for. Also its nice that they DO do delivery. read more

Nothing spectacular about this place, except for some of the convenient meal combinations you might not expect from a take out joint. Their appetizers are a bit better than their entrees, of which you'll find the standard assortment you'd see anywhere else. In short, Dragon Phoenix is a convenient neighborhood place, but its nothing special . I'd give them 2.5 stars if yelp would let me, but i'm rounding them down to 2 because they are very unfriendly to dine-in customers. read more

Best Chinese in Meriden. They are fast, priced fairly, and have very nice delivery people. Strongly recommend.

Food is alright, but the service is horrible. Placed an order a month ago, showed up before they closed at 10:30 but the door was locked. A young man let me in, I paid for the order and went home. Tonight I tried to order and a woman on the phone kept accusing me of placing a large order and not picking up, which is not true. I told her it wasn't true and she should ask the gentleman she works with, but she insisted. I said forget this order I will call somewhere else, said Thank you and hung up. She called me back ! She insisted it was never picked up, and then asked you still wanna order?" I said no, my partner was on the phone ordering from another place, she repeated it, you no wanna order. I said no thank you and she hung up. No apologies, no I checked and you did pick up and pay nothing. Another time I called at 10:00 asked if they closed at 10:30 and was okay still to order. They told me yes, I placed the order, and said I'm leaving work now I will be there in 20 minutes, she said it would be ready in 15. I pulled in the parking lot 20 minutes after ordering like I had said, and she was on the phone calling "you gonna pick up order". Really bad customer service, and very rude. You can get much better at several other places. The inside of the place is very run down and I'm not sure what the kitchen looks like, but they lost our business tonight we will go elsewhere from now on, it's not like there isn't a Chinese Place every other block. read more

5 star for take out but I am updating this because they forget the mustard 1/2 the time. Even when specifically requested

A hidden gem! Everything was delicious. We dined in and the staff was very nice as well. I would definitely go back.

Food was awful and gastly 1.) Chicken Fingers were like small greasy frozen balls, prepared fast terrible chief. 2.) Pork egg foo young was over cooked on the bottom which made the pork taste dried out, dreadful.3.) Shrimp roll was lacking shrimp, tasted like I was eating a cabbage roll. These are new owners and they charge more money than the previous which shows how much they care about quality and more worried about profits. I will never do business with Dragon Phoenix Chinese Restaurant anymore. read more

A couple weeks ago I order beef and broccoli and it came in this really thick sauce too thick for me. The place smelled like they just sprayed ant repellent. Wonton was good read more

This place used to be great. Been going here for 10+ years. Within the last year a relative bought them out. Prices went up a little which is ok. The issues here far outweigh a few nickels. First, you get less food. If you are going to charge more, keep the proportions the same. Second, the food doesn't taste as good. I don't know if they switched cooking staff or if they switched oil, but there's something "off" about it. Lastly, the new owners do not run the business well. They will tell you 15 minutes to pick up and it will be 45 minutes. They will tell you 40 minutes for delivery and it will be in 20. I picked up my last order after they told me 15 minutes. It was one combo meal. It took 42 minutes. 6 people who ordered after me had their food sitting out and hadn't picked it up yet when I left. In summary, this place lacks what it used to since the new owners took over. I'd recommend speaking to the previous owners to see what they did and working from there. I personally will try a new restaurant as they have failed the last 9 orders. read more

Pretty tastey takeout especially if you're in a pinch. I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews. Maybe they just had a bad order? We ordered general tsos and shrimp/mixed vegetable combos, really good! We also ordered vegetable lo mein, tasty! The food arrived promptly, hot and tasted fresh. I will definitely order again. read more

Honestly I saw the reviews on this place after moving to the area and I figured I'd ignore them and give them a try. This place is absolutely terrible the only good thing I can say is that the delivery was quick but the food is so bad it wasn't even worth it. Would never order from here again. read more

I ordered from the place a few times in my previous house. Last year we moved to an apartment building in south meriden. One night I called and placed an order for delivery the driver (I think it was the owner) gets here and then calls me to come down to the parking lot to pick up my food! He said that they don't enter this complex after dark. Well I told him he could either bring the food to my door or he could keep it and I would perform a stop payment for my credit card. He brought the food up and I signed and told him that I felt offended and would never order from there again and he said "Thats fine with him have a good night" (polite enough verbally but his manner was pssed) I can understand being cautious in certain areas but not here, this isn't a high violent crime area. Maybe if they are nervous they should apply for a firearm permit and also carry non lethal defense like mace. This whole thing pssed me off because I am not a fricking criminal and don't like being treated like one because there might be some idiots that live in the area. The next day and for almost a week after that I was sick as a dog possible tampering before he brought it up me thinks. read more

Placed order for delivery, arrived and was horrible. This has happened a few times so decided time to let others know. I ordered extra spicy and extra sauce - got a meal that was barely spice and DRY AS HELL AGAIN. I rated 2 as I always get SAME meals and it is RIGHT maybe 2 of 5 times read more

Ive had Chinese food from several places over the years and I believe that Dragon Phoenix is in the top 3 or 4 places that are somewhat close to me for Meriden or Wallingford area. Yes, every once and a while i think the egg rolls are a little greasy, but the next time they end up being perfect. The main dish is always good too and never makes me sick like I've read elsewhere. They would get 5 stars but the prices have gone up a lot recently (I believe they are owned by another family now) and its getting a tad expensive. read more

The owners are friendly and the food is good for the price. Fast delivery. Their hot and sour soup is one of the best around.

I dislike giving a business negative reviews, however, I ordered 6 different things, and I cannot say that I recommend one of them. My Garlic Chicken wasn't very flavorful, but let's just talk about the chicken for a minute. I should have taken pictures, because what came in the take out box resembled floppy soggy chicken skin than it did actual chicken (of any part of the chicken). It was bumpy as if it were where the feathers were plucked from and rubbery. I have actually never seen chicken presented in that manner ever before, even through all of the Chinese food I have ordered in my life time (and some of those were pretty sketchy!) Needless to say, I did not eat the "chicken", and it made up half of the portion of the Garlic "Chicken", and about 40% was made up of broccoli. The teriyaki beef skewers were a gray hue and tasted of soy, but no teriyaki flavor. It was tender though, and not leathery like some others I've had. That being said, it didn't "cook up" like other beef skewers either. The Vegetable Chow mein was mediocre at best, and the crab rangoons seriously lacked filling. I tried a bit of the boneless spare ribs and wasn't too impressed, some were very dried out and tough to chew. My step daughter said the General Tso's chicken was "Okay". Unfortunately, we won't be back. :( read more

They place is kinda run down but I don't get take out Chinese for the ambiance! Food is good, not too greasy, and it's cheap! And, well, now I want some. read more

Placed an order for delivery. It took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. The food was coagulated by the time it arrived. I won't make the same mistake twice. read more

This is the only place I like to get my Chinese food. There are many -- many Chinese restaurants in the area - from Meriden to north Haven on rte 5 // and I have tried them at least once but I always go back to Dragon Phoenix. Been getting from them for years. Always good and large portions too. You should try it and see what you think read more

This is my go to place for Chinese food. Granted everything is not great, but everything has a good taste to it. I can not think of one item on the menu that I can complain about. I prefer my ribs cooked a little different but I still enjoy the ribs they make. I always try other places and every time I do I wish I had just ordered from my old faithful Dragon Phoenix. There is only one place in Meriden I like best only cause they make the ribs the way I like. but... The place that has the ribs I like does not deliver so it's the Phoenix for me. read more

The food was so bad ordered boneless ribs with shrimp fried rice the ribs were hard as bricks so over cooked couldn't even eat them and the shrimp was so mushy it was so bad I threw it out read more
