Caleigh assured me that that was a normal reaction, she then turned off the lights in the room and got me a juice to bring up my blood sugar while holding a cold towel on the back of my neck. I went here to get my rook pierced (the little cleft above your ear lobe) and everyone was very professional. I didn't have an appointment so I just walked in with a friend and asked to get a piercing. The staff in the front were very helpful and friendly and the tattoo/piercing artist was also quite professional. He could tell that I was nervous, so he took his time and made sure I was calm before piercing me. I would go back here again for piercings for sure. read more

I got my first tattoo from Dragon back in 2000 and since then I've gotten 6 of my 9 tattoos here and 6 piercings. I absolutely love love love Kingway but I would not recommend the West Ed location. The Kingsway locale has awesome staff and really, they put out some of the sickest art. It's awesome. I have nothing to complain about, except maybe the pricing on tattoos. Went and got a PA done here, Lexi was awesome right from the start. She wouldn't get too descriptive at the counter for obvious reasons being around other people. But once in the piercing room answered all my questions, made sure I was comfortable and relaxed and let me know what exactly what was going on. Had to get a larger diameter ring put in a few weeks later, of which DragonFX didn't have any in stock but she called another "competitor" (But a piercer she knows very well) to see if they had it in stock for me to be able to get it switched out. So kudos to putting the customer first. read more

I got my ears pierced here by Caleigh. I was really nervous but she calmed me down (as much as she could) with her humor. The piercing itself was done quick and relatively painlessly. My ear lobes are oddly shaped and Caleigh took the time to make sure it was even and symmetrical. She did an excellent job. The facility itself is clean and the instruments and materials are sterilized and single use only. The facility has pretty strict rules (ie no cameras, guests in the room must sit on the chair and not move) and this is for everyone's safety. read more

I've had a few good experiences with this shop; once, when I was pierced by someone under experienced for my septum, they advised me to remove the piece and did so for me immediately, which was incredibly nice of them. Then, I've bought a few pieces from their ship and had them put in for me; including having my nostrils repierced after losing the jewelry while abroad; they kindly repierced and the healing time was fast due to their artist's knowledge of her craft; I suggest Beans, although I'm sure a lot of their staff is just as knowledgable. I've yet to be tattooed by them, but I've had such a lovely experience with them about my peircings; they've very friendly, and professional, and it's easily one of the better piercing shops in Edmonton. . read more

I frequented the WEM location for piercings and jewelry but when my go to piercer left to pursue another career, I fell back to the lovely Caleigh who had pierced my septum a couple of years prior. I went in in January to get my tongue pierced. The piercer (I cant remember her name I'm sorry) took me back and got me to wash out my mouth with mouthwash. She then looks at my tongue and starts laughing and tells me she cant pierce my tongue because apparently my tongue is far too small. Okay, fine, I'd rather not push for something that might not be safe. We then decided to pierce my lower helix (I already have 2 other helix piercings so I know what to expect). She did not clean my ear before piercing! Of course it got infected badly. Once the infection faded away I was able to see that she also pierced it with much too short of a bar! I had assumed it was just swelling and that it would be okay once swelling went down. That was January, it is now August and my ear is still very swollen and even crusty/oozy. Enough is enough, I'm going to have to buy a longer bar to go in this piercing. Long story short, I do not recommend. She didn't clean my ear so it got infected, and she pierced it with too short of a bar so it will not heal. read more

My parents and I are not pleased with the experience we had today with your location. The front desk staff were pleasant enough, but the tattoo artist acted as if he had better things to do than to consult my parents about their tattoo ideas. We had to wait 5 hours just for a consult (I understand he was busy with other clients), just to be shot down and told to come back another time and maybe we would be able to get worked in. We were never given a straight-forward price for the tattoos (they were small and VERY simple), instead, we were told to think about it for a couple days and maybe we would have a few more ideas for tattoos... this doesn't make any sense. With all of this said and done, we were quite upset. So we called around to different places and ended up finding a parlour that did both tattoos for HALF the price of what you "quoted". read more

We were told it would be one hour to do both our tattoos. 3 hours later and $500, actually $200 more than what we were quoted at and we left disappointed with the pricing. Ripped off to be totally honest. John, the artist, charged us for the time it took to do cleaning and his smoke breaks. I have been saving for about a year for a tattoo of my deceased pet rabbit. I finally had enough for the tattoo. I submitted several pictures to one tattoo artist who basically traced out a very simple outline of the original picture and presented it to me as her own artwork. This was the first sign that I had chosen the wrong tattoo salon. Next I decided to go with another artist who did photorealistic work. We met for a consultation and agreed that he would do the photorealistic work and another another artist (Ben) would do the color. So I brought the picture of her that I wanted tattooed on me . Seeing as this is going to be something that is on me for the rest of my life I wanted the opportunity to view the artwork before the session. So I called the salon about a week before and asked if I could see it. The girl that I spoke to told me that he (Alex) doesn't usually do his artwork until the day of the tattoo and that should I want to see it before hand and if I am not happy with it I should "express my concerns very vocally and if I wasn't happy with it, not go through with it". So I agreed. The day of my tattoo date I'm on my way to the salon and I just happen to notice that they called me. So I listen to my messages and she said on the message that neither of the tattoo artists were comfortable working with me. All because I wanted to see the design beforehand? So I call the store. I asked to speak to the manager she's not in (as usual). So I say to the receptionist I would like my money back she informs me that there is no refund. How can you be no refunds I ask her I didn't purchase anything. It was a deposit. So I ask her for her head office his number. She doesn't have a number for them. I ask her for her managers email. She doesn't have that either. Please anyone out there wanting quality service at a tattoo parlor stay away from dragon FX HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR! stay away from dragon FX.! read more

Do not go to this place for a tattoo. I put down a $400 deposit for an all day session with Karl. A couple days before my appointment his "car caught on fire" and had to rebook me a month later. I called two days before to confirm my appointment. When I came in saturday for my session someone told me I cancelled the appointment. Coincidentally there was another person with my name getting a tattoo by the same guy the very next day. So the girl cancelled my appointment instead of the other guys. Fantastic communication. Then Karl said he wasn't ready for me anyways. He was going to work on it 6 hours before he went to bed the night before. I'm sorry, but if I'm getting a tattoo by someone, I want them to put effort into their and my artwork that will be tattooed on me forever, not a rushed sketch to draw on me. Now I have to wait an hour for the boss to give me my deposit back. This has honestly been the worst tattoo experience and tattoo shop I've encountered. I know people have slandered this company before, and I can totally see why. If you can avoid getting a tattoo here, DO IT. read more

My first tattoo experience started with a referral to another tattoo shop in Edmonton. I was frustrated with service and challenges of trying to even catch someone by phone. I asked a friend from the city if they knew of another shop they would suggest. I was referred to dragon fx website and searched through the Kingsway artists and noted the Jamie Law appeared to focus on scripting and could be a good match. With the added challenge of living four hours from the city, in the first year of a new business start up and also working full time with a serving job to cover my bills I was amazed to have a friendly and helpful human being answer the phone, appreciate that I was generally looking for a script tattoo and that time and travel management was a hurdle. She knew Jamie was exactly who I was searching for and They were open to receiving photos by email to help expedite what I was trying to accomplish and hoped that perhaps a consult appointment while I was planning to be in the city the following week would turn into the tattoo same day. I ended up just having the consult with the tattoo booked at a later date. Jamie Law took a very general idea that I had in mind, but I fully acknowledged I Was by no means an artist and I wanted his expertise to bring the tattoo to life and give it the emotion I wanted. He made some constructive suggestions and explained why he had his view and all were in an effort to bring a beautiful tattoo to life. My tattoo was 'Invictus' which was done with his amazing freehand script, with a tracing of my brothers printing of the poem to include the last two lines of the poem. This was specifically important to have his hand writing included after he lost a battle with depression and left us far too soon. Jamie brought tears to my eyes with my consultation and the result of the tattoo that is near and dear to my heart. With his passion and care. My experience with all aspects of service at Dragon Fx Kingsway was nothing short of amazing. Above and beyond my expectations of care, professionalism, art and just being kind people to work with. if it was possible to write a review & give it no stars as well - that's what i would give this "studio", if you could even call this place that. i originally went there to get my belly button pierced only for the piecer to be more focussed on my body & not my piercing resulting in him piercing me much too deep not realizing that it would cause me problems later. recently i ordered a custom belly ring because i need an extended bar. i ordered this bar much more than 12 weeks ago, i prepaid the entire amount for this jewelry - so given i gave this company a bunch of my money i am concerned. when i called to check in on the progress of my jewelry, the person who answered the phone was rude, unprofessional to say the least & disregarded my concern entirely. i do not recommend giving this location any service. read more

My first big peice, I was super excited for it, and it turned out to be a complete disappointment and horrible tattoo. Customer service was horrible to start with. The front desk didn't even acknowledge I was there. Once I finaly went in to talk to the artist, we started talking about the tattoo ideas I had. He insulted every idea I had and wasn't even listening to what I wanted. About an hour and a half he came up with a drawing of a decent dragon. So decided I'd get it done. He rushed through the tattoo. It looks absolutely horrible. Looks nothing like the outline at all! Even the shading was not done well at all. He missed half the shading, did not do any details at all. It was not the outline drawing we agreed at all. I paid $800 for an absolute horrible tattoo. DO NOT go to Chase. I'm now going to have to pay another couple hundred dollars to cover it up. read more

I went here TWICE. 1)The first occasion I got a small tattoo on the inside of my lip. The girl had done it many times before but she made a mistake, theres a randon dot in a place that you can sometimes see when i speak it looks like dirt or something. she promised it would fade but it has not, when i told them they were unapologetic. I didnt even ever get any sor of discount! 2)I always try to forgive and give second chances, my birthday i wanted a piercing. I called well in advance to see if I could get my bridge pierced there that night, and the guy on the phone said "ABSOLUTELY come on in." When I did so, I was greeted with a very unprofessional phrase by some employee who thought he was funny, then informed no one could do my tattoo. I told them I called first and they actually tried to deny the fact that i specified which piercing and were anything BUT apologetic. After giving them 2 chances, I am left with a jacked up tattoo they werent apologetic for, and was left on my birthday with no piercings because of their lack of caring. I am not the type to complain to this extent - but no apologies were made and I was basically laughed at for not wanting to wait a few days. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. They're rude kids who send a message of feeling superior. They will also mess up your work and not even apologize OR give discounts. read more

Not impressed. I wanted to get my nipples pierced, I called half a dozen times before going to this location, never once had my call answered. They advertise to be open until 9:00pm, I walked through the door at 8:08 and was turned away because the guy figured he just wouldn't possibly have enough time to get the paperwork, Piercings, and clean-up done before 9:00. I proceeded to go to the West Ed Mall location, (after calling ahead first and having my call answered promptly!!) I walked in their door at about 8:42, and the staff was more than happy/willing to accommodate me. Paperwork took literally 2 minutes, set-up approx 5 mins, piercings another 2 mins, and her clean-up was done by the time I (delicately) re-dressed from the waist up. From walk-in to Walk-out it was about 15 mins, so what it boils down to is the piercer at the Kingsway location simply wanted his shift to be over at 8:08 instead of 9:00 like it was supposed to be. read more

I got my tragus pierced about two weeks ago here and I couldnt have imagined a better result. I went in expecting the worst because I heard a lot of horror stories about getting your tragus pierced. People said that they could hear their cartilage breaking or like it would get infected very severely, so I was pretty afraid and I didn't have high pain tolerance at all. I went in with three of my aunts and the receptionist explained to us that the piercing was $50 and then the jewelry can go anywhere from 35 to 75 dollars. In my opinion a little bit overpriced but I was getting it professionally done I guess. I got my tragus pierced by this British / Australian guy, I couldn't really tell because he had a really slight accent. When I went into the piercing room the receptionist told me I could only bring one person in with me which I didn't really mind. When the piercer was getting all the materials ready I tried my hardest not to look at anything because then I would get really terrified and nervous. He marked the spot where he thought the piercing would look nice and then proceeded to pierce my ear. He didn't really explain to me what he was doing which was fine with me because I rather him not tell me anything so I don't expect anything then him telling me what he is doing. And to my surprise the piercing didn't hurt at all, it was more of an uncomfortable feeling rather than painful. It just felt like a lot of pressure on my tragus but not pain at all which was super surprising for me because I expected at least a little bit of pain. After I got the piercing I didn't even remember it was there because it didnt hurt at all like there was no after pain or stinging afterward. It hasn't gotten infected so far cross my fingers knock on wood, I'm really happy with the results and I would definitely go get another piercing at this parlor again. I would say getting my cartilage pierced at claires what more paonful because of the after pain. 1/10 on the tragus pain scale. read more

Seriously underwhelmed. I went to Dragon FX to see Tony for knuckle tattoos on all of my fingers. I have MANY tattoos and am not new to the realities of them. I was assured by Tony, that he had done knuckles/fingers before and "could definitely get that done no problem". After returning to a touch up (needed with fingers) the ink is still barely in my skin. I do not have over calloused fingers and do not work with my hands. He simply pussy footed around the tattoo not to mention you could tell he was visibly getting tired of tattooing by the time he got to my last fingers because they are the worst. For someone who claims to have so much experience I am EXRTEMELY unimpressed with how this is turning out considering I paid over 200 dollars total for simple lettering on each finger. The letters don't even look the same as their counterparts. I have an "L" on my left that looks COMPLETELY different from the "L" on my right. Why did I go back for a touch up you ask? I had called the shop and expressed my disappointment and they assured me it would be fixed upon touch up. I will NEVER be back and I will tell anyone who asks me to avoid this shop. read more

Worst experience I've ever had dealing with a business. My boyfriend needs to get jewellery for a piercing changed out and we figured since they carry high quality jewellery that they would be our best bet. Wrong. It takes us half an hour to get there, because of that we called ahead to see if Lexci would be in. We were told she'd be in for the rest of the day but when we arrived there 40 minutes later we were told Lexci wasn't in at all and that she wouldn't be back until Wednesday. This is on a Friday. So we wasted over an hour because the girl at the desk had no idea what was going on or if their piercer was even in. During the week I called around and no one had the size of jewellery we were looking for so out of desperation I called them back. The only other place that was more than happy to order it was even farther from us. They don't have the right size but the girl who answers tells me they can order it for me and it'll cost us about $45. Thursday we call back and ask to speak directly to Lexci before we make the trip over. Lexci herself wasn't polite and didn't seem completely certain about the size he needed even though she measured him... Sort of. As a professional piercer wearing gloves I didn't think a guy's genitals would bother her so much(especially when they're clean and he's obviously healthy). Then she tells us that the jewellery is going to cost us $85 and it'll take 6 weeks before it's there (the time doesn't bother us). We put down the deposit just in case and head home. Later I have an epiphany and realize Elayne Angle recommends a jewellery company so we check that out. It'll take about a week for us to get their jewellery and even with $25 shipping it'll be cheaper (still surgical steel and internally threaded). So today he went to get the deposit back on his way home from work and got to spend the better part of 20 minutes waiting for Lexci to show up so he could get it back. One of the girls working got so frustrated with the wait that she just gave him the money back and told him she'd get Lexci to deal with it when she got back. All in all, we've given them a couple of chances and they've been nothing but a waste of our time. We will not go to them for piercings (he's getting at least two more and I'm planning nineteen of them which I wanted their jewellery for), jewellery and we don't want to see what they are like for tattoos (he's planning a commemorative piece for his dad). I've never been mad enough with a business to leave a review before, and neither my boyfriend or I are particularly high strung or angry people but this place was just so careless and unprofessional that we both feel like we need to warn people looking for piercings that there are places that will not give you the same hassle and that will not waste your time like Dragon FX wasted ours. read more

Please do not go here for a piercing. I chose this location over west ed because of the positive reviews, but my experience was a nightmare from start to finish and I'd really hate for somebody else to end up with anything even similar. I have never written a review before but I felt that I needed to in this case. Everyone I met/dealt with here was very unhelpful, unprofessional, and - in some cases - quite mean. I got both an ear and nose piercing and they managed to completely ruin both to the point of permanent scarring and damage. I was overwhelmed and tired and just wanted to go home at that point, which they fully took advantage of by way overcharging me. I'm not good at standing up for myself so I paid and left but, as I said before, from start to finish it was a horrible experience. This was all the way back in May of 2017 but it is still effecting me negatively, as my piercings never healed properly. Please do not go here! read more

My fiancé and I booked a consultation here via email In the email we sent pictures of what we wanted done and were we would like it. Also we informed them that we only had a couple of days to stay in Edmonton since I have to go back fort mcmurray to work. They told us between Friday and Saturday they could get what we wanted done since we were looking to get a few tattoos. When we met with the artist for out consult he in formed us that he does not do work on the mid section or above the shoulders which is were my fiancé wanted hers. But I decided to go through with mine so I explained what I wanted in more depth from the email and asked when they could book me in they informed me they didn't have any openings till Tuesday completely the opposite we were told through the emails. They were very rude and arrogant towards us and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have no idea why or how we got a consult with an artist that does not do work on the mid section or above the shoulders when that is specifically what we asked to get done. And after I explained how disappointed I was in the survive they continued to yell at me as we walked out very unprofessional. read more

I must say I have had over 100 piercings in my lifetime from all over the world and have never been so disappointed and appauled by this shop. The piercer was a female who's top concerns were belittling me and talking non stop trash about every other shop and piercer in the city. The entire staff I dealt with was rude and all seemed to have that youthful sence of entitlement. I own over 10 business and would fire anyone on my staff if they treated people anything close to this piercer. It seemed so important to her to mention where not to go rather than speaking highly of herself and staff, it reminded me of my 2 young children. I am also cross contaminated certified and was disgusted with how many things she was touching and then touching me, I went to a clinic to get myself tested and results are pending. I wpuld urge anyone never to step foot in this pretentious shop, its in a mall for god sakes and like most mall retailers they came up oh so short. Go to a real tattoo and piercing studio not a mall, like really. read more
