I meant…read moreto write a review ages and ages ago but forgot until I was chatting to my dentist (the always lovely Dr Rose: http://www.yelp.com/biz/bite-dental-toronto-2) yesterday. Works out well, really. I can assess the longer term outcomes! I ended up with Dr Rittenberg after the oral surgeon I had been seeing packed up and left for Barrie. He was handsome, but my love for him had faded quite a bit-he didn't really indulge my (slightly obsessive) need to know all the details of my treatment-so I was less devastated than you'd think to end up switching oral surgeons midway through my course of treatment. I was pretty apprehensive at the first meeting, however. I felt like I'd been left in the lurch by the previous guy and that I really hadn't been given as much information as I'd like. Five minutes after meeting Dr R, I knew I was going to be happy. He pandered to my curious nature, answered all my questions and wasn't remotely condescending. I felt like I was participating in my treatment plan. Just like with my regular dentist! He was very thorough and very personable-including actually sitting down to speak to me instead of rushing through the consultation. The actual procedure was a breeze. I'd had something similar done before and it was long and tedious. In Dr R's hands it was short and ridiculously easy. I've had more traumatic cleanings. He has the air of someone who has done all of this a million times before. And I'm pretty sure he has! Follow-up was also good and there were no surprises with billing. The work has stood the test of time and I've had zero problems since then. I've recommended him to a colleague who was also very happy and thought the procedure was effortless too. It's worth noting that the nurses in the department have great faith in him. ALWAYS trust the nurses. They know what's what. Failing that, trust me: someone who has a mouth full of dental work. I've done it all!

The operation was pretty quick, I was done in about 15 minutes for removing the teeth on my left side! And the recovery was pretty smooth. Highly recommend getting your wisdom teeth removed here!

I was able to book an urgent wisdom tooth extraction with them even w/o referral. They contacted…read morethe previous dentist I saw that told me to do extraction and was able to pull my record. Great customer service, even over the phone they are so informative and caring. They booked me in the next few days after learning my condition, and they even had the doctor come in earlier than their operation time just to squeeze me in. As you can imagine, I was super nervous and in general very anxious with anything dental/surgery related. But, Dr Kanaan and the nurse walked me through the process and made me feel comfortable. The procedure started with check ins (questions) and then a 360 Xray (which is by far the smoothest dental X-ray I've ever experienced). Then Dr Kanaan came in and did a consultation, explained to me the whole process and the options for anesthesia. I chose IV anesthesia and they walked me through the steps how it will happen. They gave me laughing gas to calm my nerves then inserted the IV where the anesthesia went in. All the staff were very nice and caring throughout the whole process. The last thing I remember was I Dr Kanaan putting a dental pillow inside my mouth, and then I got woken up by the nurse with my gauze already on. It felt like I just closed my eyes and when I opened them up, the deed is done. After the procedure they helped me walked around the room to get a feel of my surroundings. Asked me a couple of random questions to check my consciousness and then explained to me and my partner the process of after care. They don't cover insurance payment but they do send the paperwork and claim for you. I ended up paying $1000 including everything but it's totally worth it! The service is 10/10 and they also sent me the X-ray copies right after. It was overall a great experience! You could totally trust them with any extractions in the future. I highly recommend!

"The one with the laughing gas."…read more The Good: Very nice and professional surgeon who was thorough in his explanation of the procedure and the recovery process; surgery was done very quickly and recovery only took 4 days; didn't have to take any pain pills that were given to me as a precaution; painless! The Bad: Had to wait about 20 minutes to get into the surgical room and then had to wait another 20 for the surgeon to wrap up his previous appointment (although you can't really blame him, apparently the previous patient was late) Overview: I had to take out one wisdom tooth (yes, I'm lucky!) on my bottom right jaw. My appointment was July 15. Dr Gay was very thorough in analyzing my x-ray and explaining to me what had to be done and why. He then went over the choice of anesthetics and offered me to choose. I went with all three (Nitrous Oxide aka "Laughing Gas" + IV + Freezing). The procedure went flawlessly with me passing out right after he gave me the IV (right before he gave me the IV I was given the gas with N2O to help me "loosen up"). I then woke up to have someone stick a gauze in my jaw and have me bite down. The nurse then guided me over to the rest room where I lay down on a bed with a blanket over me while I recovered from the effects of the IV (felt a little light-headed but that was expected). She handed over a kit with gauze, a syringe and more reading material on the recovery process to my brother and went over the do's and don'ts in detail. She then scheduled a follow-up checkup the following week, where she'd also go over what was going to be done with that plastic syringe she provided in the kit. The freezing numbed the inside of my mouth completely and I felt no pain. Bleeding stopped after 3 hrs or so and I didn't need the gauze anymore. For the next two days there was a bit of swelling with the most two days after but it was overall painless! Had to take anti-biotics that he gave me though (3 pills a day of Novamoxin until the bottle was completely done). Didn't have to take any of the Tylenol 3 he prescribed, so I guess he must have done a pretty decent job. Had to eat congee for about a week though. After about 4 days, I was OK to go back to work and the swelling was completely gone. I still couldn't open my jaw all the way though, but that was expected as it was a little sore still. Went back the following Wednesday for the courtesy appointment. This time, a nurse invited me to a room where she went over how the syringe is used with salt-water to clear food out of the wound. Didn't hurt as she went through the demonstration (actually felt refreshing) and after that I tried it out and that was it. It's been about 3 weeks now and I'm back to my normal eating habits completely. My jaw's fine now and I'm really thankful I had a good doctor (heard horror stories of some people that took a lot longer). If you're looking for a highly professional dentist with a quick recovery process, give Dr Gay a try! [Extra/Helpful Tips] If you're parking downstairs in the parking lot be aware that there's a 2 hr limit! There are some random local restaurants and a Shoppers Drug Mart in the same plaza so your friend/family member that came with you can wait around until you're done (you're not allowed to drive home afterward and probably shouldn't anyway). It's just after Lawrence on the east side of McCowan - turn into the Shoppers Drug Mart and walk towards Lawrence. It's right before the TD bank, on the second floor. - Simon

Dr. Oktaei is truly the best dentist I have EVER encountered!!!…read more As someone with exceptionally sensitive teeth - before meeting Dr. Oktaei my experiences of seeing other dentists has been disappointing and very painful even with them administering local freezing or laughing gas. However not so with Dr. Oktaei! She has been the only dentist to date who has proven time and time again - to perform various dental procedures on me using only local freezing with unbelievable pain free success. From dental cleanings. repairing a broken molar, needing to extract teeth, to fixing my numerous cavities - Dr. Oktaei has successfully performed all of these dental procedures on me using only local freezing - without me feeling any pain! Also every dental procedure provided lasting results without complications. For example, just recently I needed emergency dental surgery to have my upper wisdom teeth. extracted. I still recall how anxious I was fearing the worst since I was over 50 years old. Where having my wisdom teeth pulled at this stage presented certain risks and possible complications as I was told by oral surgeons at the Emergency Department. Being put under general anesthesia or using Nitrous Oxide gas also presented other risks. So I opted to have my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Oktaei using local freezing only. To this day I remain amazingly surprised at Dr. Oktaei's skill and ability to pull both of my wisdom teeth so quickly and efficiently using only local freezing. Before I knew it - both teeth were extracted without me feeling ANY PAIN through out the entire procedure. I also had no complications afterwards. Needless to say, over the past 5 years of being Dr. Oktaei's patient - I cannot but praise her enough! Her knowledge and skills to address and fix any dental problems I have presented has been resolved with ease. In additional to her professional expertise the added bonus is that she exudes such an amazing warm personable disposition towards all of her patients She truly cares about her patients' oral health, she listens to her patients' voiced concerns and alleviates one's fears. What I also love about her is that she presents to her patients various available options to resolve a particular dental problem and then gives the patient the choice before proceeding with the dental work. She also never compromises on the quality of dental services performed. Her dental practice is also very price conscientious which helps patients who may not have a dental insurance plan. Her clinic also offers a reasonable dental payment plan for those on a limited income. I have recommended Dr. Oktaei to my family members & friends - each of whom were equally impressed and appreciative for the high quality of dental services Dr. Oktaei performed for them. So if you are looking for a professional and highly experienced dentist - seeing Dr. Otkaei will be your best option that you will not regret! My review is submitted as a current patient - because I believe and view Dr. Oktaei to be nothing short of Angel on earth - whose choice in becoming a dentist was her calling in life to helping others. So I hope those looking for an amazing and highly qualified dentist may come to rely on and trust Dr. Oktaei with their dental health for years to come. Lastly, I also want to add - that Dr. Oktaei's entire dental staff are equally amazing! From the dental receptionists that always greet you with a cheerful smile, to scheduling & reminding you of your future appointments - to the dental hygienists - each reflects a similar warm, welcoming and professional disposition - making each dental visit a positive experience.
