I…read morecan't speak to the providers because I never got to see Dr. Matheus, only her nurse prior to a routine colonoscopy. The biggest problem with this office: her scheduler, Jessica. Yes, I'm going to call her out by name. Because I was able to trace back all the issues directly to her. My routine procedure was scheduled for a Monday. As per my instructions and all paperwork, I would be contacted on the Friday afternoon prior or possibly the Sunday afternoon prior regarding my arrival time. By Sunday evening at 7 o'clock when I had not received any updates. I made the executive decision (brilliant on my part), to NOT start my prep. As this was the weekend, there was no one who could answer my repeated calls. Not the office and not the surgery center. On Monday at around 10 AM I called the surgery center. I was told that my procedure had been canceled the Friday before by the office of Dr. Matheus. So next, I called Dr. Matheus's office and spoke with Jessica. She was very uncaring and nonchalant and told me that she had left me a voicemail. On Friday. She did not. I asked her to review her notes, make sure she had the correct number? Jessica stated she didn't write anything down. (by the way, I'm an RN and if you didn't chart it, it didn't happen). I received no missed calls and no voicemails from Jessica regarding cancellation. I asked to be transferred to the office manager and I left a detailed message with a request for call back. Never received a response. Then this OFFICE kept calling me to remind me of my follow up appointment? Luckily, I got to speak to Jessica again. I asked her why I needed a follow up appointment for a colonoscopy that never happened. And then asked her why my colonoscopy was canceled. Jessica said that she was supposed to obtain the authorization from my insurance company and she never did that. No apologies, no empathy, not any bit of ownership that SHE dropped the ball on this one. I have since changed providers, but have told this story to as many people as I can. Because if you're gonna hire your family - And believe me, Jessica has to be related to somebody to keep this job - you should at least try to hire the smarter relatives. The best outcome for me is that I avoided taking the prep. And I found a lovely provider in Dr. Demasi. I would tell you to avoid this clinic at all costs. They are a factory and they don't care about the individual.

The next morning I returned for my procedure. The doctor I had last time retired so Dr. Bernstein was assigned( no pun intended). Professional and nice personnel. They made me feel comfortable and I had the best sleep in the last 24 hours. Staff could not have been better; called next day to check on my condition.

You never feel rushed, he answers your questions as throughly as he can, and always makes sure follow ups are ordered and that you feel comfortable when you leave. He will definitely be a doctor I follow if he ever leaves and stays in the area. All of the nurses I've dealt with at the Bradenton clinic have all been very kind and friendly as well. I've noticed a few people get upset with wait times, but I've never understood why. Sometimes great care takes a bit longer than they schedule. At least you know patients are very well taken care of here. I've been to lots of different VAs and in my opinion, this is by far one of the best ran clinics.

He answers all our questions and makes us feel like we are his only patients. Never rushed us through an appointment. His information and discussion of my husband's health was very helpful. His staff was wonderful to work with and very pleasant. Prescriptions and refills were filled in a timely manner. We are very pleased with his care. I usually would go to Sarasota Memorial, Downtown, which I do for breast exams, etc. and rate them highly. I will not come back to SMH at University Parkway for a MRI. The person providing the MRI said he was at the end of his 7 hour shift. He was not dressed neatly in "uniform" of any kind, and smelled of BO. I first thought he was a maintenance person. He did not provide assistance in terms of how to negotiate the MRI bed, what to hold on to, etc. Very casual and not engaged in the process. Very unusual from positive experienced I have had with SMH downtown.

My check-in was seamless and was seen by the nurse in less than 5 minutes and then by a doctor very soon after that. I was impressed with the quality of care and the friendly and professional demeanor of the staff. Broke my finger while here at went to an actual er the day it happened…read more I was out of the elastic bandage holding my splint on (what was on my hand was not sticking anymore and out of pain meds and still in tons of pain. I came here to have them rewrap it (I get very queezy with anything medical) the PA, Yuliya, scoffed that I hadn't changed the dressing (the er told me to leave it alone because it was broken, also I am one handed). She then proceeded to unwrap everything and cut off what she couldn't unwrap and was extremely rough with my broken finger!! She proceeded to tell me to daily unsplint it and rewrap it. The first er I went to told me not to unsplint it because it was broken and needed to stay stable. As she was being extremely rough moving and pulling the wrap against my finger, I told her it hurt and reminded her it was broken. She said I know. The nurse offered to help her and she ignored her and continued. I cried the rest of the afternoon from how much pain she inflicted. My finger was throbbing and I could feel intense pain where it is broken at. I called a family member who is a RN to vent and she was appalled at the behavior and actions.

Any referral I've asked for, she has told me I need to figure that out with my insurance, myself. She breaks everything possible into multiple visits so that billing happens as much as possible. For my last appointment, I had a urinalysis that she admitted she never reviewed, even though it was a severe issue that needed immediate care. I had to make a new appointment a week later to review those results because I still wasn't feeling well. When I told her it was unacceptable that she never reviewed my results, she said "it's Monday" and "you're not my only patient", I said it's been a week and that's a terrible way to treat a patient. She back tracked immediately and said she did review my results and never followed up because she didn't need to. She then began being very condescending to me and even told me she doesn't need to mother me or check back in (and denied telling me to call her if I needed a medication change, as my infection was a tricky one to treat). I again, told her this is very condescending as I was just following exactly what she told me to do. She actually hung up on me during this telehealth video call. She is truly the only PCP that was available when I moved here and it is clear why. The office itself is so gross and creepy. She's cared a lot more about my outfits I wore to my appointments, than my family's colorful cancer history! This was my final straw after her lack of care for 2 years, so this is probably a blessing in disguise for me!
