I am amazed to see so many one star reviews but realize that people are going in with problems that are painful and not always 100% repairable. I have never experienced the staff issues with either Dr. Cannon or Dr. Shah's staffs. Dr. Cannon did my right shoulder in May of 2001 and I was back to original strength and flexibility as before my damage. In 2008, I had my left bicep detached at the forearm due to me thinking that I was much younger than my years playing volleyball. Dr. Shah re-attached it and the recovery was smooth and complete. In 2010, I tore my left medial meniscus in my knee while bowling. I went back to Dr. Shah and again the results were excellent. He advised me that I have a fair amount of arthritis in that knee so to be aware that there could be ongoing issues. We introduced a treatment of SyncVisc not long after surgery and I have not had any issues since. In 2012, I re-injured my right shoulder (old on the outside, young in the mind). This time to Dr. Shah. The recovery was long being in an abduction pillow, however, with excellent phyical therapy downstairs, I was back to 100% being able to do anything that I used to in time. I re-injured that right shoulder again 18 months ago while working overseas (fall in my apartment) and now finally getting the time to get at it. Today, from the time that I checked in until I saw the doctor was 8 minutes! When does that ever happen? I will get an MRI to check current level of damage but would not think of going anywhere else for my surgery.

Dr. David Strausser proved to be an outstanding doctor, first guiding me thru a series of PT sessions before evaluating me for surgery. I developed debilitating pain at nite that began in the hamstring attachment to the hip, then ran down the back of my knee to the ankle. I lay in bed 9 hours to get 6 hours of arrested sleep. The PT sessions continued for three months -- with limited (and temporary) gains. Ten days before the scheduled surgery, Dr. Strausser suggested an epidural injection into the affected lumbar area. His treatment that afternoon enabled me to put the 4-point walker in the closet the next day. It was and still is the single most effective medical experience in my life. Surgery was rendered unnecessary by the success of the injection. Not only did his therapy deliver a prompt and comparatively complete cure, but Dr. Strausser advised me on appropriate exercise and stretching routines to keep my spine limber. "Use a recumbent bicycle and take up swimming in your workouts" were his words. His knowledge extends to protective measures in how to use the back, not just avoidance of injury. I regret taking 3.5 years to write this note, but for readers with similar sciatica problems, my long measure of cure confirms the success of the Strausser Method. Michael S. -- The Woodlands

(Edit: I should specify this was with Dr. Shatby's office.) My primary care doctor referred me here after an X-ray came back negative for bone break/fracture. My PCP believed I likely needed an MRI and evaluation by an orthopedist. Before the appointment, I confirmed my referral had gone through, provided all my information, and was told they were only missing the X-ray results. They gave me a fax number, I contacted the imaging center, and had the results faxed over. Problem solved - or so I thought. I arrive for my appointment only to be told the doctor refuses to see me without the actual x-ray imaging files, despite already having the radiologist's report. Instead of explaining this requirement beforehand, the receptionist immediately tried to push me into getting another X-ray done right there. Her response? "Don't worry, it's only a $10 copay." That completely missed the point. I didn't 't care about the copay. I care about exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation and unnecessary repeat imaging when my PCP already believed the next step was an MRI. Why was I being asked to repeat an X-ray I literally just had done less than a week before? Hmm... I declined the repeat X-ray, drove all the way back to the imaging center, obtained the DVD myself, and brought it back to their office the same day. I had to actually get a physical DVD because this office also does not have any method in place for receiving digital records such as x-rays. OK, so let me get this straight: their office REQUIRES the original images, but yet they have NO WAY to receive such images except for an antiquated DVD, and if someone does not have said DVD, then they require them to get NEW images, coincidentally done at THEIR facility, or else the Dr. won't see the patient? Does that seem appropriate to you? Finally, after all that effort, I was then told the doctor had already left for the day. So they wanted to reschedule me for the following week. To make matters worse, they charged me the co-pay for the appointment, which I am disputing. They are also trying to bill my insurance for the appointment even though I was never actually seen (disputing that also). The entire experience felt less focused on patient care and far more focused on funneling patients into in-house imaging. Maybe there's a perfectly innocent explanation (I doubt it), but when a patient is pressured to repeat x-ray imaging they already completed, despite a specialist referral specifically for an MRI evaluation, it raises serious concerns, to say the least. Patients are not just billing opportunities. Repeated radiation exposure may be "small" each time, but it is cumulative, and unnecessary exposure is still unnecessary exposure. The complete lack of coordination, communication, and respect for the patient's time and SAFETY was unacceptable. Stay far away. I will not be returning.

Dr. Choi supposedly performed the Hemilamenectomy and pain level reduced for a couple of weeks, then came back worse than ever. Continued PT, Chiro and Aquatic Therapy with no reduction in pain. Even tried another injection. Nothing was improving. I ended up getting another MRI and a 2nd medical consult from a Nuerosurgeon who reviewed multiple MRIs (pre and post op) and questioned me as to what surgery Dr. Choi had performed. My new Nuerosurgeon at Memorial Hermann-Woodlands said there was no evidence of any previous surgery in my spine and we were both shocked. Needless to say, I hired the Neurosurgeon to repair my spine which he skillfully completed in August 2024. I'm now 100% pain free and walking well (no thanks to Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics and espcially Dr. Choi). A couple of positive comments re: SRO - Office staff are excellent. Dr. Beukelman is a great chiropractor. All the PT crew were excellent, especially Aquatics with Kristin! I can not recommend Dr. Edmund Choi and suggest getting a second opinion to ensure adequate care. I spent almost a year in debilitating pain because this doctor couldn't fix the problem. I'd come in, was always taken back promptly and they would all 3 take turns working on me and tell me what to do next. Fast forward I had to reschedule my flight from the 17th to the 19th of December due to the same family emergency and completely forgot to call on Monday to reschedule my appointment on the 19th. I admit it was the last thing on my mind and only remembered mid flight on Tuesday. Today I was running late for my appointment but on my way when I realized I was not going to make it by 8.15. I called at 8.09 saying that I was running late but most likely not going to make it in 4 minutes. I was more than happy to forgo the 15/20 mts that I was late if they would still have me or I could come in later. No one picked up and I left a voice mail message. Get a message a couple of minutes later saying all my appointments were cancelled and had to call on the day for Availability. I called again and explained that I just tried to call to let them know I was running late but on my way and that I left a voicemail message and I was faced with a rude front of house staff that insinuated that he was there all morning and didn't get any phone call or voice mail message and proceeded to tell me I had a cancellation on the 7th (I rescheduled didn't cancel) and a no show on the 19th and today that's why all appointments were canceled and proceeded to give me attitude when I tried to explain what the situation was, which only left me more aggravated and frustrated than I already was. My deductible has been met this year and all my appointments are fully covered so I was trying to do my best to still make it to my appointments since next year I will have to pay for these sessions . The arrogance and attitude that I got this morning made me want to forgo all my appointments. I will find another clinic next year, for my PT and will gladly pay. Bare in mind that I'm a returning patient that has been to the clinic before without any issues. This is not a reflection on my therapist that was wonderful but a sad consequence of a misunderstanding and how poor customer service impacts patients.

Dr. Ho would tell you I have a high tolerance for pain, but this was unbearable and I would wake up every night in tears it was so bad. I went to Texas Orthopedic Hospital to a shoulder specialist who wanted to shoot me up with cortisone, I'd had X-rays, an MRI, and went to a very well-known neurosurgeon to try and find out what the problem was. I didn't want to temporarily fix it, I wanted to know what was wrong. He said he didn't know why I didn't just get the cortisone shots and walked out of the room. If I wouldn't get sued, I would tell you his name. I couldn't believe it. I'd driven almost two hours to go see him because he came so highly recommended. Needless to say, I didn't go back and was furious! A friend recommended I go to a chiropractor. Her chiropractor in Wyoming recommended two in Houston whom I researched, but saw Dr. Casey Ho had, at that time, 20 five star reviews and was also an acupuncturist. HE'S who I wanted to see. He got me in the next day. Three needles later, ART, and an adjustment, and I walked out pain free...PAIN FREE!!! I'm grateful DAILY that I found him. I've been going to him for eight years now because I tend to be somewhat clumsy, and have taken some pretty bad falls, mainly because of my dogs, but they were completely my fault. I have never been disrespected so badly at a doctor's office before my experience today at this…read moreoffice. I had an appointment with Dr. Rick Seabolt and his nurse, Jamie (front desk told me that was her name) for hip stiffness. The front desk ladies were very nice when I checked in for my appointment. When Jamie came and got me to take me back she immediately said we'll take x-rays of my hips, and I was confused as to why we would jump to x-rays when I hadn't talked to her or the clinician as to why I was there. She said that was how they normally did things, and I continued asking questions because I was simply confused at what the cost would be and why x-rays were indicated. She was off-put by my questions, said I could talk to the doctor first, and put me in an exam room and left the door open. She walks off to a desk nearby next to a 2nd woman and proceeds to mock me in a cruel tone with rude gestures by saying "I refuse to take x-rays without speaking to the doctor first". I was so shocked in seeing them continue to talk horribly about me, they then both turn to look at me, see that I just saw that whole interaction, and the 2nd woman approaches immediately justifying why they do x-rays first. I said ok I was just confused and concerned with what the extra cost would be for them, and this woman became increasingly more rude and aggressive in how she was talking to me and started to talk over me (sadly, I did not get her name to mention in this review). At the end of the conversation I said ok I'll take the x-rays now before seeing the doctor, feeling completely blindsided by this horrible interaction, then Jamie came back into the room to take my history. I was so incredibly dumbfounded that this just happened and I told her I do not appreciate the aggressiveness and rudeness that just occurred. She brushed it off and left me to wait for the doctor. Dr. Seabolt was very nice and we had a brief conversation why I was there and what value x-rays would do for my visit. I mentioned to him I was confused about taking x-rays first, but did not tell him the rude interaction that just occurred. After the x-rays he gave me suggestions for 2 stretches for my hips and then I left. Overall, I will not be going back to this office. Horrible, horrible experience.

I have never had an experience -- whether with medicine, a restaurant, a haircut, or even a dog…read morewalking service -- so substandard that I've felt compelled to write a review. I grew up and spent nearly two decades in the B/CS area and have had almost uniformly positive healthcare experiences -- until my visit to this facility. If you're searching for an orthopedist, I strongly urge you to research other options or consider driving to Houston or Austin. It would be well worth a 2+ hour drive to avoid the experience I had. I injured my knee while skiing and had seen both an urgent care provider and my PCP -- both of whom provided more helpful and, most importantly, compassionate care. I saw Dr. Laura Marsh on March 6. After initial intake with a nurse, I was seen by a resident who performed standard knee exams (e.g., Lachman, anterior drawer) and used an ultrasound to confirm effusion. He recommended an MRI. I waited about 20 more minutes before Dr. Marsh arrived. She spent -- and I checked -- no more than four minutes with me. Her rushed, impersonal approach made me feel like my injury wasn't worth much attention. She confirmed I needed an MRI but gave little guidance on how to care for my knee (e.g., icing, NSAIDs, weight-bearing, physical therapy) and left before I could raise questions about my travel schedule and other concerns. I got an MRI the following Monday and was informed when I called -- I believe by a receptionist, since the nurse was unavailable -- that I had torn my ACL. I received no additional guidance on next steps or how to manage the injury, beyond needing to now see an ortho surgeon. The MRI report itself lacked detail, and I had many follow-up questions. I saw several other providers and a PT (outside this facility), who all told me that the report was lacking in detail. When a nurse called me later that day to give me the results of the report (since I couldn't reach her earlier in the day), I told her my questions and she said she would relay them to Dr. Marsh -- but I never heard from the doctor directly. Later that week, another nurse called to say Dr. Marsh had reviewed the MRI. Again, I had questions that the nurse couldn't answer and would have to forward to Dr. Marsh. I don't understand why Dr. Marsh couldn't have taken five minutes to speak with me at any point throughout this process. Instead, I was forwarded to the clinical director, who eventually answered many of my questions but downplayed my concerns, saying Dr. Marsh "spends the most time with patients." This person also promised to send me a knee care guide (which I have yet to receive). Not every staff member created a poor experience -- the resident, the nurse I saw before the resident, and the MRI tech were all wonderful. But my experience with Dr. Marsh made this unnecessarily difficult. This was my first serious medical incident, and it was made worse by the poor care I received. I'm fortunate to have good insurance and that ACL injuries have many online resources -- but if you were dealing with a more complex or serious condition, I can't imagine how difficult this facility would make things for you. I strongly recommend avoiding this facility -- especially Dr. Marsh. The lack of communication, follow-through, and empathy is simply not worth your time.
