I have suffered for many, many years with both big toes that were painful ingrown toenails! After a recent consult visit Dr Pignetti was able to describe the needed procedure to end that misery! Today I trusted him to surgically remove the ingrown nails under local anesthesia which was without pain and I am grateful and so happy I finally got this done. Insurance covers this and so regret that I put this needed procedure off for over 30 years!! Thanks Doctor Pignetti.

I went in for what the podiatrist described as an urgent nail avulsion due to infection on the nail…read morebed. He told me it had to be removed immediately or I'd end up in the hospital with a serious health risk, and gave me no other options. The procedure was coded in a way that insurance denied as cosmetic or comfort care, leaving me with a $400 bill that overdrafted my account. When I reached out for notes or a letter of medical necessity to appeal, I was told the physician no longer works there, transferred to billing, and the billing manager refused to help. She said they wouldn't do anything more, it was an insurance problem, and this was the last communication they'd have on the matter. She became aggressive when I simply explained I was upset about the situation. On top of that, they charged my card for the full amount without any prior notice after the denial, which came as a complete shock. The doctor was also negligent in dressing the wound, the gauze stuck to the nail bed, I had to return two days later, and he ripped it off dry, causing extreme pain and re-traumatizing the area. The nail is now not growing back properly. Patients deserve better than being left financially harmed and physically worse off with zero cooperation on fixing a preventable insurance issue. I wouldn't recommend this practice.

I did, what I thought was my homework, I found no complaints, no malpractice records, etc. so after meeting and discussing a game plan, I agreed to allow Dr. Fernandez to correct one of my hammer toes. Surgery seemed to go well, however immediately after surgery I explained that the walking boot that he fitted me with was way too short! Not only did I express my heighten concern regarding the boot being way too short, allowing my toes to hang over the end of the boot with a pin sticking out of my toe, but putting my recovery at extreme risk of additional injury!!! Sadly I was dismissed not once, but on 3 separate occasions and the exact thing I was so concerned over actually happened! This is the result of being disregarded!!! Disfigured!

I have suffered daily pain from ingrown toes with fungi, I went to the Woodlands Sports medicine…read morecentDr at Woodstead court five years ago. He was an Orthopedic surgeon & Sports medicine with an electrical engineering degree. He put me under full body anesthesia at Hermann to remove my 2 big toenails and 2 small toenails since then fungus came back, I have suffered daily excruciating physically and emotionally pain. If he referred me to a foot specialist, a Podiatrist then I wouldn't go through hell since I am a Prozac sister. I made a mistake no knowledge and paid for it. My friends told me to see Foot and Ankle Specialist Dr. Fernando Fernandez, his assistant JoAnn is wonderful, he is patient, kind and professional that he takes out my ingrown toenails in his office, one foot at one office visit, Never knock me out put me under. He doesn't rush to do many toenails in one time. It was a horrible and Bleeding lesson for me. If you have foot problems you only see a Podiatrist!!!!!! Thank you Iesus, I found Dr. Fernandez.

The office is clean, staff is personable, I really like Lori, Dr. Butts assistant, and my impression is that Dr. Butts is very thorough and does a great job! I have to have some additional work done and I have no doubt about his ability to perform the necessary procedures. I wish he were in the Woodlands more than just one day but it's not too much of a hassle. I would recommend Dr. Butts and the Foot and Ankle Center in the Woodlands.
