Last year, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Lowy. It was a gross oversight on his part, and I don't think…read morehe is fit to practice medicine. I had just returned from vacationing with my boyfriend and a couple of days later my back (around the kidneys) began to hurt so badly that I could hardly move. I went to see Dr. Lowy and told him of the pain. I also told him that it felt a little funny when I urinated. He diagnosed me with pancreatitis (a condition that I was told later by TWO other doctors that no one in their right mind would be the first diagnosis for an otherwise healthy person). After ordering that I get some blood work done, he analyzed it and told me that I wouldn't feel well for a couple of weeks, and to stay in bed. He told me not to take any aspirin or other pain killers as they would exacerbate my condition. After staying in bed without any pain killers for the two most painful weeks of my life, I finally gave up and had to go to the emergency room because my pain was excruciating and I had a temperature of 106 degrees. The emergency room doctor was able to diagnose me right away with a kidney infection, put me on antibiotics and send me on my way. The ER doctor told me that when I came back from my vacation I probably had a urinary tract infection (much more likely for a healthy young woman who just got back from a vacation with her boyfriend) that went untreated and spread to my kidneys. This UTI could have easily been caught by a simple urinalysis, which Dr. Lowy failed to give me. He did not listen when I told him that my kidneys were hurting. I am now paying off a $6000 emergency room bill for a simple UTI that went wrong because of this man. Do not go see him for any reason! You are likely to end up sicker than when you went in.

MaiFiji Home Care LLC…read more The caregivers assigned to my husband's 24-hour care in March 2020 were very good. They were caring and efficient and seemed to be well trained. That being said, I have no issue with the care he received. My issue is with the lack of transparency with how the fees are collected. The quote they gave me the day before my husband was to be discharged from the hospital, was that my charge would be $20 per hour. I was also told they do not take credit cards, so I was ready with a check for the first week in advance ($3360). The first I saw of their "Client Agreement" was the day of discharge minutes before my husband was ready to leave the hospital. The transport ambulance EMTs were there, ready to move him. I was given the Client Agreement to sign, and was told that I was also to pay an extra $3360 for a "Placement Fee which is a one time fee charged for every new client and is equivalent to one week of the Caregivers pay and paid once we place the Caregiver on the case." At no time in the days previous was I informed of this extra charge. Had I known beforehand, I might have gone with a different service whose rates were slightly higher, but included all charges. The person who handled all of this, Elena (Helen), was my contact with the administration, and the person who gave me the quote and subsequently, the Client Agreement, and collected my check in the amount of $6720. A few days later I called to ask her why the "fee" was not discussed prior to the presentation of the Agreement. She actually yelled at me asking why I was "kicking up a fuss" and continued to tell me I should "talk to Ili about your 'judgements'." She repeated this in an email she sent the next day apologizing for being "rude and yelling". This was not very professional, nor was it something I appreciated with my husband very ill and in Hospice care. After my husband's passing 3 1/2 weeks later, I was told my invoices would not be submitted to the insurance company until I paid the last 1/2 week owing. It was a very stressful time, but I hand delivered the check to her to facilitate the timely submission of the claim.

Dissatisfied customer. We contracted with this agency for 3 hrs each day. Caregivers were…read moresupposed to log in on the tablet that was left at the house and fill out a form stating what was performed. Some caregivers never even filled it out. MANY TIMES, when it WAS filled out, it would say things like: made lunch, changed litter box, wiped down kitchen countertop. That's it? A 3 hr shift and this is all you did??? Just didn't feel we got our money's worth on most shifts. There were a few times the caregiver would show up 10-20 minutes late. One time, the caregiver went home 45 min. early because the patient told her to leave. Caregiver did not follow procedure and call the office from patient's house. Just left and called her manager once she was gone. Patient needed to be sure his wound was cleaned each day while the caregiver supervised on how to have him do it himself. It needed to be done daily and there were a few times the caregiver did not have the patient clean his wound - which was VERY important (and one reason WHY we hired help). When one of the patients was being discharged from a rehabilitation center via the caregiver, the discharge papers with prescription information never made it home (these were important papers!). Overall, would NEVER recommend this agency!

I have worked for Sequoia Senior Solutions for the past year and in that time have had the pleasure…read moreof meeting many of the care givers that Sequoia employs. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the caregivers is their constant dedication to their clients. I remember during the fires last year watching the caregivers make sure their clients were safe even at the risk of their own safety in some cases. Watching the caregivers and the clients they care for is really a beautiful thing, it goes way past an employee getting paid to do a job, its more of a friend ship that evolves with the caregivers extending themselves to their clients and caring for them, sometimes until the very end. Having to bring a stranger into your loved ones home because they need care can be hard, but Sequoia helps you each step of the way, from your first meeting with a Care Manager to eventually placing the correct and well trained caregiver in the home to meet your loved ones exact needs. When it comes to the Management team at Sequoia ~ it all starts with the owner operators. Stan and Gabriella lead our team with honestly, determination and the utmost care and concern for their clients and caregivers alike, and it shows with happy clients and employees alike. I highly recommend Sequoia Senior Solutions if you are needing a care giver for your self or a loved one ~ they will exceed your expectations.
