I have been a patient of Dr Michael Yang's for about 6 years now. I have found working with Dr Yang to be a beneficial experience. When I was first referred to him my pain level was between 7-8 on a scale of 1-10. He looked over my most recent MRI and together we decided on a course of action that might benefit my type of pain. With time and patience on both our parts I'm now at a pain level of 2-3 most days. I've been able to go back to my Pilates class, my strength training class, and walk my dog every night. Treating pain is certainly tricky business as everyone has different expectations and their pain tolerance differs widely, however, I personally have found great relief with the help of Dr Yang. Saw MD for initial appt (waited Over an hour) and scheduled procedure after appt. Office called 3 days prior to procedure to say they did not receive prior authorization. Prior auth was authorized 5 days prior. After that was all cleared up they called same day and cancelled procedure and attempted to schedule me with a different MD 3 weeks later. Dr. Yang was referred from my family physician. I had pain in my back for years. I went to an orthopedic doctor, but he said their was nothing he could do. I am so happy I went to Dr. Yang. Within a week he treated the pain and it was pretty much gone. He also, referred me to a physical therapist that is really helping. I am able to watch my grandkids again and I am so happy. read more

I was very disappointed in my meeting with Dr Yang as he didn't provide me with information to help me understand more fully what pinched nerves entails or offer any advice for managing the pain I was in. It felt like my back was broken in half every time I got up from bed (and more general back pain the rest of the time). I asked if there was a recommended way to rise from bed and he laughed. The office scheduled me for a steroid epidural in 3 weeks. When I went to the outpatient hospital for the procedure Dr Yang came to the pre-op room I was in, looked at the patient chart at the foot of my bed, didn't look at me, didn't greet me, didn't say a word to me. To tell the truth, I wasn't even sure if it was Dr Yang since I'd only met him once 3 weeks prior and he had a mask on, also head covering. This nonchalant treatment by the Dr just prior to getting several painful shots in the spine is not reassuring!!! I will not go back to him for a follow-up, I will start over at Providence Medical Group Pain Management. The shots did nothing to help, not that I blame him for that because I was told that sometimes they don't work or you need the shots more than once.  P.S. I started seeing a physical therapist and she showed me how to properly get up from bed and that has helped tremendously!! At least I don't feel like my back is broken in half! And good luck getting any call-backs from his office staff. read more

Dr. Yang went to Johns Hopkins University with dual majors in Biology and Psychology. then conducted neurosurgery research at UCLA. He attended UCSF, one of the top five medical schools in the nation, to complete his medical degree, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at Cornell University. HIs education, training and work experience are top notch; He is a leader in his field and his work reflects this with me and his patients. Skill and compassion can;t be beat. read more

You can't lose with a doctor who had honors at UCLA, UCSF, John Hopkins and residency at Cornell. Besides being a leader in his field he is super nice guy that actually listens to you. He really seems to care about his patients and understands and practices the latest techniques and innovations in his field. . read more

I would never recommend this Doctor. I have been seen and diagnosed with C.R.P.S. by multiple specialists so there is no doubt as to my diagnosis. Before my injury I was a dancer, 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. I went from that to being trapped in my living room for months and unable to do menial tasks b/c of the pain. I repeatedly asked for assistance with depression, anxiety, and/or counseling. I told him it HAD to be part of the CRPS b/c it wasn't part of me before. He told me to go pay for it out of pocket (i'm a worker's comp patient, and if you know what that means then you know i'm not even paying all of my own bills right now). I ended up in the E.R. full on panic attack w/ a side of suicidal thoughts. After treatment I became aware of my situation. Dr Yang used to say things to me like "we're taking shots in the dark here" "science doesn't know anything about CRPS yet" and was fast tracking me through a series of spinal injections with the main goal of doing a major spinal surgery. If you google "CRPS depression" up pops a government site. Want to know what it says? A CRPS patient should be seen for psychotherapy treatment for depression/anxiety/PTSD before pain treatment begins b/c these mental side effects of the syndrome make the pain seem more intense and the patient less likely to respond to any pain treatments. He ignored me. He lied to me at our last appointment and said he "would try to refer me." This man was not concerned with me as a patient or my recovery. He was concerned with the money he could make off of me. He never even bother to google my condition and do a little reading and re-education. Maybe things have changed a little since medical school... On the flip-side Dr. Campos, his colleague, get's 10 thumbs up (yes, 5 people's worth of thumbs up). He treated me twice, both by accident. He showed concern for my insomnia, my depression, my anxiety, he even did an injection for me and I had NO negative side effects after. My first injection I was taken in with an increased heart rate, sweating, in panic mode... Dr Yang had to say "picture" somewhere in between 15-20 times for every adjustment of the needle and x-ray he had to take. It felt like he had a needle in my back attached to a joystick. It also felt like I had been kicked by a barnyard animal for 4 days after my procedure, my entire right leg went numb for a day, and I had pain radiating down my leg as well as up for a day. NONE of that with Campos. He never even said "picture" once... He even promised to refer me to a psychotherapist if I were to begin treatment with him, but I had already begun proceedings to see a new doctor. If you do choose to see DR. Campos watch out for the paperwork department. I had to spend and extra 26 hours in a car, 3 trips, and push back treatment by three months all because they never faxed the right form. Also at one point my benefits were completely shut off because they didn't fax the insurance company any information about my treatment. So three days before Christmas I get a letter, instead of a check, which summarily stated "no more money for you, good luck paying your bills." read more

Dr. Yang at Summit Pain give me epidural injection for back pain and it was extremely painful. I did tell the doctor that he is hurting me but he continue with the procedure. He could stop and redirect the injection or not do the procedure. The pain in my back is still present. After the injection my leg went numb and start hurting. It has been months now. I can't walk, sit down or stand up. Other doctor helped and give me pain medication but there is no promise that the nerve will heal. I had a test and it did show damage on major nerve. How Dr. Yang does not know were major nerves are, he did use xray to direct the needle and contrast to see structures. This tells me that you can't trust this doctor knowledge and skills. In his operative report there is nothing about me telling him the injection hurt. He is not honest human. I am sorry I went to this doctor. I know others got hurt from the same doctor. I am sharing this because it could happen to you.Think about it before you make a decision it can affect your life forever. read more
