As a physician with Dysautonomi,a it has been hard to receive such compassionate, and up-to-date medical expertise as I have found with Dr Dhillon. Her residency at UCD in anesthesiology has given her knowledge of current therapies. She listens well. She exceeds the care given by most of the MD's I have seen , many locally and one even at Stanford. The office staff have been easy to work with and most pleasant. The professional thing to do, for all patients but especially for those of us who take time away from work to BE ON TIME FOR OUR APPOINTMENTS, would be to TELL us when we get put into a patient room that you're running a full hour behind schedule. To KNOWINGLY leave us sitting in a room unattended for a solid hour and assume that we don't have any responsibilities outside of that appointment, is at the very least RUDE, but also grossly disrespectful. Then to just walk in without acknowledging or apologizing for it makes it so much worse. If we showed up an hour late, it would be considered a no-show with a $250 charge. First time gets a pass. Second time gets a review. I won't be giving a chance for a third. read more

Dr. Dhillon is the most experienced physician I've met, besides a geneticist, with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome patients and comorbid conditions. The cervical epidural she gave me has already provided so much pain relief and it's only been a couple days. The epidural was less painful than getting tattooed over my disc herniation, which says a lot. She also has provided me a treatment plan for both cervical issues and thoracic outlet syndrome, non-opiate medication that helps pain/fatigue/immune system issues, and listened more closely to my concerns than my adored PCP that referred me. She's down to earth, professional, and highly skilled. I hope I continue to feel this way for upcoming visits, but this is such a breath of fresh air even for my first visit and procedure. I'm on MediCal Partnership. My epidural was 3 days after my first appointment, which I would nearly never say yes to but her experience convinced me, and gave me confidence I was in the right hands. read more

I would never use this place again for pain management. My "physician" came in looking like she'd been on a weekend bender, complete with dirty, worn out Converse shoes (I'm all for wearing Converse; I own several but these looked like a dumpster fire, and was visually unprofessional). Most importantly, she was completely unprofessional and inaccurate in administering my injections. My husband and I kept exchanging glances, like "is this really happening?!" Lastly, their exam rooms are set up like a counseling session, two chairs, no exam table. So how are they supposed to administer injections like this? Dr. Pope has given me my life again. I've had chronic neck pain for 32 years. Dr. Pope found the nerve that was causing me to be in agony. He zapped it, (ablation) at the wonderful surgery center on 4th street, Santa Rosa. The next day I was able to drive again cause I could actually turn my head. I went to the San Francisco Zoo with my daughter and my grandchildren. I was able to walk 8,600 steps. If you have chronic pain you know how amazing that is. read more

I required some PT after surgery. Evolve Restorative Center had appointment openings that fit well with my schedule. The therapists were professional and personable. I appreciated that they started with simple exercises and built my strength week to week, giving me some challenges, but keeping in mind my limitations based on my recovery. I completed six weeks of PT and have been doing great. Thank you Julie and Michael for helping me regain my mobility! I continue to do the exercises they recommended and I am stronger than before my surgery. read more

Dr Jason Pope is the best pain management physician I have known in my 40 years as an RN and then 16 years as NP. He has a rare combination of a top, rated education and residency programs plus specialty training and board certification in three areas, plus he's a really nice guy and intuitive. Our Experience with Dr Vu was life altering. My brother suffered a fractured femur and then 10 weeks later a fractured L2 leaving him in a world of unbearable pain. This would be a "0" star review, if that was possible. After driving over 2 hours for my appointment, I was told my appointment had been rescheduled 4 1/2 hours later. No one called, no one left a message and they did have my correct contact information. The young woman at the desk was borderline confrontational and didn't believe me. I showed her my messages on my phone for the day she said they called and there weren't any from them. Sadly, we couldn't stay for the later appointment as we had other commitments. I would have loved to tell the Doctor about their staff. We wasted 4 1/2 hours driving to and from the appointment, not to mention wear and tear on the car and us. They may have left a message but not on my phone. What a sad way to treat their potential patients. read more

I'm 69 years old and unfortunately I have had to see more than my fair share of Doctors. Dr Pope in my opinion was an average skilled Doctor. The reason he doesn't get a higher rating from me is because his clerical staff is way below average. I tried to make my copayments upon the day services were rendered, and either nobody in his office knew how to collect a copayment by credit card or were too busy to deal with it. I received a $1,600.00 bill in the mail about 18 months later stating due upon receipt. I lodged my complaint to the Doctor and he was extremely rude and told me if I didn't like it than don't pay it. I told him that's not even an option, I told him I have worked hard my whole life and have an excellent credit score that is probably higher than his credit score. At that point I changed Doctors and made arrangements to make payments on the money owed to Dr Pope. And that was a nightmare in itself trying to pay that money back. BUT I got it done only due to my persistence and tenacity. Dr Pope must have the worst clerical Staff in America, well maybe that's a bit much but worse staff in California for sure. read more

On 4-25-2024 I had a virtual / online appointment at 2pm with a nurse MIRA NEUPANE, FNP. I joined my online appointment right on time. And I waited 48 minutes for the nurse to join. Upon joining the appointment, the nurse accent and speed of her talking made it very difficult for me to understand her. I informed the nurse that the Veterans Administration has scheduled me for surgery on 6-20-2024 and that the surgeon recommend I do not get anymore injections prior to the surgery. The nurse asked about my medication. And suggested I can do physical therapy post-op. I informed her, that I've already been through physical therapy twice for this issue with the VA. And when I talked with the surgeon last week, I asked him about physical therapy post-op and he said, they aren't going to show you anything they haven't already. And I agree with him on that. I can do my bands, stretching and PT that I've already been shown (twice). It is not acceptable that the nurse was 48 minutes late to my appointment. This is the second time, my appointment with them has been more than 30 minutes late. I was given no alternative treatment options pre-op, to help alleviate the pain I am in. I feel they do not value me, or my time. And I feel the appointment was a waste of my time. Because no additional treatment options were offered for me pre-op. I've decided this will be my last visit as a patient here. I do not recommend this place. read more

Dr. Jason Pope Evolve Restorative Center I have spine issues, Lumbar and Thoracic issues that cause me pain. My regular doctor referred me to Dr Pope. My appointment was for 3:30 on 8/7/24 After filling out some standard first visit paperwork, sitting and waiting, Being taken to a room and answering some questions. They asked me to pee in a cup. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but i didn't have to go. there was no notification or I wouldn't have peed at work before leaving. After trying to squeeze a few drops out, and failing I went back to the room i was told to wait in. After 20 minutes sitting there I heard someone else in another room ask if a doctor was even present, as they were waiting "Forever". At this point I knew I was wasting my time. I walked up to the front desk and asked to see the paperwork I had filled out upon my arrival. I promptly tore it up and set it on the counter. I told the receptionist that if they can get their shit together, call me for an appointment, an hour was too long to wait. It was 4:30 and I had a 3:30 appointment, They had a half hour till they closed at 5. I also let the receptionist know she was nice and I was not mad at her, just the situation. Id left work 2 hours early for this appointment and there was no excuse for being made to wait an hour after my allotted appointment time. I understand doctors do run late, but an hour is unprofessional. if someone had come to me and said he was running late, asked to reschedule, or even given some poor excuse, I would have continued waiting or rescheduled. I got nothing.... If a business does bad things, they deserve a bad review, this is their bad review from me. I hope others get tired of being treated poorly by businesses that do not care about the people that pay their bills. Without us there would be no Co-pay, no insurance check, no MONEY... I was in horrible pain in my side and back and made an appointment with Dr Chau. I saw her the following day and she recommended getting a lidocaine shot. Back pain sucks. I woke up one day with it. It never went away. It was exhausting. operative word: was. Saw Dr. Pope and he reviewed the MRI. He started me on a home exercise program, which made it a little better. He did a nerve block on my back, which made it 90% better. He asked me to do some physical therapy, which I did not want to do, but that and the injection made a significant impact. Best staff in any medical office. Brooke is great. No meds. Just relief. If you are serious about getting better, this is the place for you. read more

I can't recommend that anyone seek medical attention at Evolve. The office management at Evolve is horrendous. I called to rearrange an appointment, and I never received a return phone call confirming the new time. The follow-up appointment via Zoom didn't fall within the proper time parameters so needed to be rearranged. When it was rescheduled, it never happened: no Zoom link nor doctor. I didn't receive any courtesy reminders either. Unfortunately, the procedure wasn't very effective. My hope is that this kind of treatment doesn't happen to anyone else. Go elsewhere! read more

I want to write this review in case anyone else is thinking of this treatment. I started seeing Dr Shumsky a few months ago for ongoing pain after a back surgery. He suggested an MRI and then a steroid injection in my back which did not help. He then suggested an ablation, which is preceded by a medial branch block with lidocaine to see if the ablation will work. The block should not be a very painful injection from what I researched and he told me, but mine was extremely so. It is also not supposed to cause much residual pain or effect shortly afterward. Over a week later and I am in so much more pain than before he treated me. What was back pain that flared up when exerting is now constant and extreme. I can barely drive for more than a half hour or so, exercise, do house work, etc. I reached out to the office with my concern, and he couldn't even be bothered to reply, just had the receptionist tell to come in for yet another appointment, no explanation of why I may be in so much pain still or to offer me hope it may subside. This is after months of visits, MRI, and two painful (one extremely so) treatments, all adding up to a fair amount of money even with insurance, and ending up in pain way more severe than when I started seeing him. The last thing I want to do is give him or this practice more money, or let them do another procedure on me. A direct response sure would have been nice though. read more

What can I say about Dr.Jason Pope? If you're looking for a doctor to be an hour late for appointments and not show up this is the perfect doctor for you. Went to see him because I have back issues and he led me to believe that he was going to help me. First appointment to get an epidural he canceled, what does that mean for me? Continuous pain! Appointment to get an epidural he showed up late again and while he was in the room during the procedure he was supposed to give me a local but all he did was just kept on stabbing my back and I felt every single needle being pierced through my back. I told him that I could feel it and he completely ignored my request to stop. Setting up appointment has been a complete and total nightmare! I think he's more concerned about the money then he is about the patients. I will be filing a grievance with my insurance company! Definitely will not be returning back to him again my Back is worse after seeing him! read more

Dr. Bhandal seems like a good pain doctor. Good rapport, good experience, lovely office, great on-site staff. The issue I have is they have no telephone in the office. The office staff use their personal cell phones and can only call out. They have a patient portal to email the doctor and staff, however they don't monitor the portal so if you email your doctor or staff you'll never get an answer. All calls have to go to a central switchboard which goes to someone who has no knowledge of the office or the people who work there. When calling the central switchboard there is an outgoing message which tells you to hang up and call different numbers for various reasons, repeating the numbers only once and very quickly. They cannot transfer your call and there's no way to telephone in to the actual office. I'm very nervous about getting a procedure done there and not being able to reach anyone, an exrience that is echoed in several of these reviews. I would be happy to come back evolve restorative if they would only get telephone service into their office! read more

If you go to a doctor's office for years and they never provide a treatment plan to you, you're going to a money mill. That's exactly what happened here at this office. The relationship between patient and a provider is supposed to be a partnership but unfortunately that's sometimes not the case. I went to dozens of appointments here, I left each of them feeling like I had accomplished nothing by attending. Meanwhile my condition got progressively worse and quality of life declined. I kep t attending my appointments hoping that things would get better but I didn't really see how they could considering our visits were quick and unfocused. I never received a thorough physical examination, there was never a detailed review of my medical or personal history, and I never received any guidance or a treatment plan. How can a doctor practice medicine without doing any of these things? I'm ashamed to say that it took me far too long to realize that they can't .....so I left here. I don't want to be sick the rest of my life so the best decision I made for myself was to leave. I want to warn other people because I think there are too many doctors like this who are taking advantage of people with chronic pain. Thankfully, I found another pain management doctor. One of the first things she did was give me a thorough physical exam. The physical abnormalities, the ones that had never been looked at, noted in the charts, or treated in any way shape or form at this office were finally addressed by my new doctor. Please do yourself a favor, seriously consider this review. I think as patients we really need to network to help root out these kinds of places so we can finally connect with good physicians capable of providing the help we so desperately need and deserve. There ARE some good doctors out there, but in a large sea of money mills they can be extremely hard to find (and the search can be exhausting). But please don't settle ! Went here for L1 compression fracture complications. Received treatment and the treatment was successful. However, during the 2nd follow up phone appt, I received a phone call roughly 10 minutes before my scheduled appt, from Evolve from a young adult who proceeded to ask me 2 questions. Then hung up the phone. I expected a call back, as I thought maybe the call got dropped. No call back. At the time of my appt there was never a phone call. I waited for about an hour. NOTHING. Left for work 3 hrs later. I received a phone call then but at that time I was at work and couldn't talk. This was in Oct 2022. I left several messages on their voice-mail since nobody ever picks up. I told them I or my insurance should not get charged for a visit that never happened . Today is 2/23/23 and I still have not heard from them but have sent me a bill telling me to pay my Co payment and of course they charged my insurance for a visit that NEVER took place. I paid the bill in fear it would be sent to collections after 90 days. I still can not get a hold of anybody at their office and attempt to clear thus issue. I would not recommend their services to anybody. From feces smeard on their toilet seats, poor customer service, and very shady practices regarding billing, I would never go back here read more

Dr. Joseph C Rutledge is an excellent physician, highly skilled at what he does, yet informal with a good sense of repartee and attentiveness to the patient. I was impressed by the way he was able to listen to me on our first meeting. He conveyed understanding/ empathy which I have found to be rare among doctors who treat people with chronic illness. I have been working with him for nearly two months on treating a variety of pain syndromes in my body. I find his approach intelligent, conservative, proactive and effective. Evolve Restorative Center surprised me as it is situated in a lovely medical building. Architecturally, there is an immediate impression of a comfy clean prairie style house one would see somewhere in the midwest. The beautiful, of the setting, on a large pond with a nice walking trail around it, is part of the healing I experience in working with this doctor. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Rutledge to anyone who is seeking relief from chronic pain. The results I have garnered speak for themselves; in addition to decades overdue recommendations for safe ergonomic use of my body now that I have limiting injuries & life changing at home care -- I have experienced definite improvement in my quality of life. read more

My objective in writing this is to inform all yelp followers as to why I will not be coming back to the EVOLVE office. I've only seen Dr. Pope a couple of times (we recently moved to S.R. and were seeking follow up medical care for my spinal cord stimulator implant). Dr. Pope is filled with frenetic energy and flies into the patient room with his laptop, with rapid fire questions and does very little listening about who you are and what type of health issues you are dealing with. I'm not sure he understands chronic pain, although ironically, he is a "pain" doctor and is always ready to tell you how much experience he has in the field. (see his bio below) There is always a long wait to see Dr. Pope. However, I don't mind waiting for my doctors. I never have as long as when I get to see them, I feel that I am heard and that I feel that there is some compassion and attempt at rapport. When I got to the Sonoma office on June 10th, it was packed with patients. The long drive, plus the sitting and waiting for over an hour and a half to see the doctor, caused me to have a seizure when I was in the patient room. The attending nurse was very kind and did all she could to make me comfortable. My husband was there to bear witness that again Dr. Pope flew into the room with his laptop, sat down in a chair quite a distance away from me... and began rapid fire talking, basically ignoring the fact that he had a patient lying on the table who was just coming out of a seizure. I know that my health issues are complex. I have Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND), CRPS, neuropathy of the arm and leg and herniated disc issues, that the implant was supposed to address. This was supposed to be a simple appointment, because we needed him to give us a "pre-authorization" so that I could get my pain med Rx. ( Post-surgery I have been able to cut the dose in half which is great and I do hope to continue to wean off of the meds) Despite the fact that I already had the Rx in place from his NP from a week ago, (5mg tabs 3-4 x a day) he refused to honor her Rx for me and insisted that I get off the meds within one month based on a titration schedule that had not been discussed with me or my husband. Dr Pope did not ask my opinion, make eye contact, or even stand up and come over to where I was lying on the table. There was no concern shown about my physical or emotional state. Coming out of a seizure leaves me feeling disoriented, exhausted and in pain. This was not an appointment in which Dr. Pope should have decided to veto his NP's Rx for me, or set me on a titration schedule to get off pain meds at warp speed. I have just had surgery, made a major move and then had to move again, took a severe fall on my back, and been dealing with a lot of PTSD and chronic pain, as well as having seizures...2-3 times a week. His dictating this titration agenda was very traumatic to me, on top of everything else that I have been dealing with. I was so stressed after this appointment that Dr Pope's nurse and other patients saw me sobbing as we left. I have a lot of anxiety about seeing doctors in general, especially those who are not supportive or caring about each patient's unique needs. "Do No Harm". You may have heard of this physician's oath. Well, I was harmed on the 10th. I was mistreated and unheard. I know if I tried to explain my feelings to Dr. Pope, he would only grow defensive and shut down. I do not have any power here except to elect not to go back to see him, and thankfully, write this yelp so that I can help others in pain. My advice to anyone who has chronic illness, dual diagnosis, or any other complex health issues, is that Dr. Pope is not a good match for you, despite all of what he tells us is years of "pain management experience" read more
