Now, without further ado, onto the review: I absolutely love these smaller, charming ballparks, and Riders Field was no exception. Home of the Frisco RoughRiders, this place was clean, easy to navigate, and genuinely fun from start to finish. Parking was a breeze, entry into the ballpark was quick and painless, and there were plenty of giveaways and activities happening throughout the evening. Sadly, I did not get my big Jumbotron moment this time around (heartbreaking, honestly) but I still had a great time with friends old and new walking around the ballpark before the game and during innings taking in the atmosphere, even if we didn't get to go into the lazy river! The game was, a baseball game - "Yay, Baseball!" The RoughRiders ended up winning which didn't hurt the experience :) One thing I was slightly confused by was the timing of the Friday night post-game fireworks. I assumed they'd begin shortly after the final out but there was a long delay while families and attendees were allowed onto the field. By the time the fireworks finally started, we had already started heading out and only caught a few bursts from the parking lot. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if fireworks are a big part of your evening plans. Also worth mentioning: the gift shop had some fantastic merchandise, especially shirts featuring my favorite president. Prices were definitely steep though - but wow I was tempted! I believe one of my friends was persuaded to make a purchase, even if it was after the fact. All in all, Riders Field delivered exactly the kind of fun, relaxed baseball experience I remembered and was hoping for. Fun fact: When I walked into the park for a game, there was an older man standing by home plate with his glove ready to catch a foul ball. He was still standing there ready in the 9th inning when the game was about over. This guy was clearly the real deal super fan! My first time at Dr. Pep park, I was in great admiration of how homey it felt. The light blue wood with white trim just makes the park feel cozy, which is tough to say for any kind of sports arena. My second time, I felt the exact same way. So the setup, to begin with, is already a win. For being the minor leagues, I also think the Roughrider association does a great job keeping the crowd entertained. They constantly host small contests and the tech people play hilarious sound bites at all the right times. I was super impressed, and even heard several people say that coming to a Roughrider game is more fun than a Ranger game (the major league team in Dallas) because of how well they entertain. Lastly, there's literally a freakin lazy river in the outfield of this park! You heard that right- a place where select people can swim and stay cool while still getting their sports fix. I don't know about you, but I've never seen that anywhere else. Dr. Pepper is an awesome ballpark, and I am in no way biased because Dr. Pep is my favorite soda. They really do have a way of keeping you in the moment, and it's a great way to get out, whether with family or friends, and sit in a nice atmosphere. I wanted a nice tall glass of Doctor Pepper today so I searched Doctor Pepper into my computer and drove to what I thought was going to be a Doctor Pepper restaurant but It Was actually a Doctor Pepper Ballpark! Same difference because they sold me a ice cold Pepper just how Greg likes it. Doctor's Orders! (Just kidding). They are selecting the next Texas Rangers at the Doctor Pepper Ballpark right now. I had no idea they start them so young. One of the scouts bringing the children through drills was tallest guy I'd ever seen in my life. His name was Max and he's probably been on TV before. He Must Have Been At Least 6 Feet Tall. I wanted to hang out with him so I told him I was also a scout. I had an eye for talent, but Max only had eyes for me. HE WAS ONTO ME! I leaned into my scout duties and really paid attention to the kids. I scouted a 4-year-old that day, that kid went on to be Hall of Famer Lefty Gomez. The Frisch Roughriders play at a wonderful stadium. My party was met at the gate with a smile and they made sure we had our tickets. Once inside finding our seat was quick and easy, but along the way we were asked if we could be helped finding our seat. Once we found our seats we went searching for food. There were many many options for food, from Hawaiian skewers, bbq, popcorn, the classic ballpark drank, and so much more. When I'm in town again and the Roughriders are playing again, I'll for sure come back. read more

In attending a Rough Riders game, I found the directions to the ballpark fairly straightforward. On top of that, parking was super-easy. From start to finish, the whole experience was phenomenal. My daughter, two grandsons and I attended a RoughRiders game. We attended the night of the Jung/Young Bobblehead give-away. It was frustrating seeing people walking in and out to receive multiple bobbleheads. At one point a worker came up and tried to put a stop to it, but some people were walking around with bags full of boxes... We have the MiLB Passport Stamp books and the lady in the store was very friendly in helping us get our stamps and validating our stamps. Most all of the workers we interacted with were very friendly! I felt bad for the team since the game was delayed by a power outage for two hours and most of the fans left. There was no energy at the stadium.. I'm sure this is not the case for all games, just this one since it was 9 before the game even started. We will be back next season for another game!! read more

What a cool stadium! I loved the design of the building and the seats are more comfortable than those at the Rangers games. This is definitely a family friendly ballpark with the little activities in between innings. This is a great place to watch a Roughriders game. There is truly something for everyone and no bad seat. It is empty most of the time so you can move around. There is also a nice lawn section in the outfield to set up your blanket. Their specials are great and generally their concession prices are not a rip off! If you have kids, there are tons of activities including a full playground with some bounce house type structures. Additionally, there is a lazy river which is the largest water feature of any sports stadium in the nation. Note that this is only open to the public on Thursday and Sunday games. The rest of the time, you must be with a private party. All you can eat food and non-alcoholic beverages is included with your ticket to the lazy river. Lastly, since this review is for the stadium, not the Roughriders, the stadium does host one-off events and parking is easy! read more

From the facade that matches the surroundings so perfectly to the lazy river and backyard patio - every corner offers something unique. It does get hot during the summer but sections behind home plate are shady by game time. In addition, the berm by the lazy river offers shade complete with tables and patio sectionals. $2 tacos were fair with chili and cheese on a flour tortilla. Round Table Pizza isn't the Northern Cali favorite but the personal pan size were better than Pizza Hut counterparts. Staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful. read more

I've been going to Dr. Pepper Ballpark since it opened. I've enjoyed games from the suites, from the JCPenney Club (Founders Club originally) as well as many sections all over the park. I've never been in one of the picnic/all you can eat areas in left/left centerfield. What a great way to see the game! For a very reasonable price!! Loved all the room and tables to sit at. Very cool we had our own "beer/wine" guy, not that I drink...but still cool for those who did. And really enjoyed the cooler with water/soda. Seats are spaced nicely with the rows so you aren't squished. All this for less than a lower bowl seat at Globe Life Park. Hopefully we can do this again soon as a group! read more

I really like Dr Pepper Ballpark. It's easy to get to from either the Tollway or Gaylord Parkway. Tons of parking options and multiple entry points. The ballpark is clean, small enough to feel cozy but big enough to not feel crowded. And the new lazy river? Super cool - and what a great idea! There are lots of activities for restless kids (playground, quiet areas to run and explore), areas for restless adults and just so much fun. This last visit we had our first suite experience and were really impressed - air conditioned inside and a nice section of balcony seats (with a decent chance of catching a foul ball). I'm not a huge baseball fan but there's something about the ballpark that makes it impossible for me to say no when I'm asked to go to a game. read more

Great place to catch the game of Double A affiliate of the Rangers, the Rough Riders. You never know what future star of the Rangers might be playing. There isn't a bad seat in the place. Plus, there are fireworks every Friday home game. Not quite the same atmosphere of Globe Life, but some people prefer that. Has a super cheesy minor league feel (not a bad thing, just saying), but it is also super kid friendly as there are several things for the kids to do so they won't just be sitting around for hours, also I've been when they let the kids run the bases after the game is over. Only downside is the lines for the concessions can get excessively long as there are not very many. read more

My company did an outing to watch the Frisco RoughRiders. I was impressed with how nice this minor league Ballpark was. One thing that was very cool was the fact that they have a section of the park that has a functional lazy river. It's small, but people were able to hang out in the water and watch the game. Also, there was a bunch of food trucks (near the lazy river) and a DJ. The DJ was playing/mixing all the latest which was definitely a good distraction from the lousy baseball game. I'm not trying to knock the RoughRiders, but they weren't really playing like they were trying to win. The other team was beating the brakes off of them by the third inning. Hopefully, they were able to learn a valuable lesson from their loss and use it to improve their game. read more

My first RoughRiders game experience was great. We had the Founders VIP passes (free food & booze). Since Arlington is too far, think I may have to settle here if I want to attend a baseball game. We sat pretty close (but all seats seem to have a good view here). I love how they have a poolside option (you can reserve/book a party there)...so perfect for Texas weather and watching baseball. Some sections are covered by the net but most of the times the balls fly over and people go crazy trying to catch it. The stadium design is unique, but if you want to get some exercise you can easily walk around a full circle at this stadium. Will definitely check out another RoughRiders game again...and btw, they won that day against Midland. Go RoughRiders! read more

This is a fun ballpark, made to look like an old beach town. There's a good-sized playground behind 3rd base for the kids to run around. There's also a lazy river behind right field, in case you want to float while you watch the game. There's entertainment between innings and it's a nice time watching the game. read more

Dr. Pepper park is a cool little ballpark. First off the team name is Frisco Rough Riders! That's BA to me; but what's even more BA is the mascot is Teddy Roosevelt the original American BA. The park has kind of a mix of themes going on. In the outfield you have the Anaheim Angels rock and waterfall feature, a Cape Cod feel when you walk in, and then the traditional old time nostalgic ballpark feel. The bathrooms are kept up well. The food is on par with any other ballpark out there. One thing to keep in mind is Thirsty Thursdays, where select draft beers will run you the unbelievable price of $1! No Chicago friends I am for real $1. The field and scoreboard are top notch and the fan base seems loyal. Overall a really great, affordable ballpark. I would definitely recommend checking it out. read more

OMG. This is a jewel ballpark hiding in plain sight right out in the middle of Texas. This place. is. gorgeous. There's nothing minor-league about this Double-A ballpark. The layout is wonderful and the sightlines are tremendous throughout the park. The staff is plain friendly and I took my $7 ticket to the first row behind the first-base dugout and had a blast. The mascots -- Daisy and Deuce -- are engaging and dance with kids at every chance in the concourse and atop the dugout. They've got interesting food options -- all you can eat in certain areas available to groups. They even have a swimming pool. The park seats about 10,000 and looks like a miniature major league park, just none I've ever seen. Next time you're in the middle of nowhere, park for free at the mall across the street and spend 9 innings w/ the Frisco RoughRiders. read more

Whether it's for a RoughRiders game or a concert, this place delivers. It's small enough to where you feel a lot closer to the event than you would at the Ballpark in Arlington. I personally dig that. Roughrider tickets are cheap, the food is actually good and they're always running promotions. I went to the day-game today for a "work meeting". Translation: I had free tickets, all you can eat and free beer and wine. That being said, my wallet left full and my stomach... not so much. Thus, my opinion might be a bit jaded. The stadium is nice: small, intimate, clean, new. The location is terrible for anyone that doesn't live in Collin County. The vibe of the stadium is a bit... family/child. You won't find dollar beer night here or anything adult/mature, but if you like singing the Sponge Bob Square Pants song between innings, this is your joint. Some how manage to get in the Sonny Bryan's BBQ tent with free Zeigenbach and BBQ. Then work your way up to the JC Penny Founder's Suite with a free buffet and more free beer. It's the only way to watch a minor league game with 2000 screaming kids with Moms that are too concerned with getting a tan and talking about the troubles they are having with their Mercedes-Benz SUV... "My husband says I don't need a new one, but mine is 2 years old. It is SO Las Colinas." read more

My dad, who is a huge baseball fan was in town for the weekend this past summer and we wanted to take him to a ballgame. Unfortunately, the Rangers were away that weekend so we suggested a Frisco RoughRiders game. It was a last minute idea that we decided on about an hour before the game started. Still, it was easy and fun! We parked for free. We purchased the cheap tickets and when we got in, we realized they were on the lawn, no seat. The grass was still wet from the previous nights rain, so we went back to the ticket booth to upgrade and were told where to sit, without charging us at all. How nice! It was fun to attend a minor league game! No large crowds, great evening. The kids play area was awesome as well! My daughter had a blast. Concession pricing is about the same as at the Ballpark in Arlington. Overall, I'd say this place is definitely worth a visit! read more

Dr Pepper Ballpark is a cute place to go with friends or family. I had a pretty good time at the game there. The three hang ups I had when I went were that the bathrooms were hard to find, the lines for food were long and slow and it was still ridiculously hot outside even in the evening. The mitigating circumstances were that it Texas and you can't blame the stadium for the heat, and I will still trade miserable summer heat for nice weather the other 9 months of the year. The bathrooms were fine once I found them, but I was confused, maybe just a ditzy girl moment. And concessions lines are often slow at sporting events. I have always wondered why and am still not sure. I think some of it comes from volunteer groups running the concession stands instead of employees, which is nice of them to let the volunteer groups do it to raise money for their causes but isn't particularly efficient. I thought the architecture was pretty cool. Not what you would expect and doesn't really fit in but I think is looks pretty. It is looks beach-y even though Frisco is a few hundred miles away from the nearest beach. The ballpark seemed to cater well to families and especially to families with little kids. Little kids were everywhere and they were really cute. The whole place isn't particularly about watching or cheering for the local team as much as spending a summer evening outside with friends and family. read more

As a 3-year season ticket holder, I've watched as the Dr. Pepper Ballpark has gone from being the best thing going in North Texas, to simply being just okay. First, the All-You-Can-Eat Teddy Express. In the past, one could get food and drink through the first 6 innings of baseball. This season, they've put a 1.5 hour time limit on the food, meaning you now get to about the 3rd inning before the Teddy Express is closed. Then there's the actual food being served at the Teddy Express. This season, burgers, chicken sandwiches, brats, hot dogs, chips, popcorn, peanuts (sometimes), and drinks are offered. While this is certainly a fairly vast menu, they've done away with the cookies and the very best item they had on their menu, the pulled pork. Ticket prices are still good (parking prices were raised, however). The park, once the best in the Texas League, needs some work. Two of the video boards have been broken since the start of the season. How has this problem not been fixed? The baseball is still great. The players are friendly and sign autographs without fail. The staff are good people and helpful. I do wish the ushers would do more to keep morons from standing around down in the seating area and blocking the views of those of us actually watching the game, but that could very well be a mandate from the higher-ups. All in all, the RoughRiders remain a fun, fairly inexpensive night out. However, at least this season, I don't feel great about the money I spent on season tickets. I have a feeling next year I'll be doing away with the season ticket package and attending just a few select games. read more

We have had the opportunity to rent out the Pool Zone in right field at the ball park a couple of times, and we've had a blast! The Pool Zone holds 25 people. Our package included 25 caps, a full-on cookout (including burgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, chips, potato salad, sodas and water), and sitting distance from heckling the opposing team's right fielder. And you can watch the entire game from the pool! With all that, you're running just a little under $50/person. Beer is extra. The guy who cooked up our food was plenty nice and helpful. Generally speaking, we've found all of the folks at the ball park to be pretty awesome. We did the Pool Zone yesterday for the 4th of July. I'd suggest picking virtually any other day to go because the fireworks here are only mediocre for the 4th - they're great every other day! We always have a great time at this ball park. It makes the brutal drive from NRH to Frisco a little less awful. read more

I frequent Rough Riders games in part because I live and breathe the Texas Rangers, but also because Dr Pepper ballpark is a wonderful gem of a minor league ballpark. First off, if you don't know yet, minor league games are incredible amounts of fun. Though the talent isn't big league caliber, the promotions and overall enjoyment of the sport itself dwarfs the MLB. Add that to the smaller size of the stadium (~10,000 comfortably) and you have a fantastic family atmosphere for games. Oh, and I should mention that this place is IDEAL for groups. When I mean ideal, I mean that there's a pool in deep right/center field that can be rented out by groups of 20. Seriously, a pool in center field at a baseball game. Amazeballs. Also, several of the seats come with free Rough Riders hats. And speaking of free stuff, as with all minor league parks, this park has tons of free stuff and events. Last time we went, we left with free shirts and a hat. Add that to the many theme nights and promotions they have, and you have one of the best baseball experiences in North Texas. read more

Dr. Pepper ballpark is a fantastic place to take in a ball game, right here in little ol' Frisco. Whether it's date night, a night out with friends, or a family outing, you really can't go wrong. It's a wonderfully inexpensive way to be entertained for an evening. I really appreciate how clean and well-maintained the grounds are at Dr. Pepper. It feels very utopian. Bring a blanket and sit on the grass with the kids, or pay just a little more for a reserved seat (there's not a bad seat in the house. Also, hint: weeknight games never sell out, and you can usually buy a cheap seat and move a bit closer as the game progresses). If you do have kids, be sure to bring the camera to grab a pic with Deuce and Daisy, those zany Roughrider prairie dogs. Plenty of very decent food and drink options abound, and the pro shop has a nice selection of Riders gear. Check the online schedule if you are interested in seeing fireworks; I think they have them during most weekend home games. Oh, and if you want to save ten bucks, park at the mall and walk across the street...it's a very short walk. In conclusion, if the only local boys you have been supporting are our Texas Rangers, you are missing out on a delightful baseball experience. I got to come here again and I've gotta say I really enjoy it every time. Of course I only came because my friend got the Founders Membership tickets through his work, which means free beer and food. Who's not gonna pass this up? From my previous visits, I failed to check out the Sonny BBQ tent, so we headed there. Their brisket was lean and tough, so I had to drowned it in bbq sauce for it to be edible. The chicken was the best way to go. The sides of beans and potato salad weren't that great. The big palm sized chunky chocolate chip cookie was pretty decent. My suggestion: just go for the meat and cookie. Free Beer Count : 4 It was about 7PM and friggin hot, so went indoors to the Hemi Lounge for some nachos/hot dogs, beer, and A/C. I love it when I can drizzle every single tortilla chip with cheeze. Leave no chip behind. They've got a few TVs here so you can actually watch the game from inside so that was pretty cool. Free Beer Count: 3 After 7 beers, BBQ ,and nachos we finally decided to actually go check out our seats. Sure there was only 2 innings left, but there was still fun to be had. I think our section was pretty lame. I mean the seats were 6th row and all, but fan wise, lame. The people in our area were most likely other corporate drones with chain and balls called their family. No one was cheering, so being 7 beers confident, taunting the visiting team was super fun. Yelling out personal attacks using their funky last names made me feel like I was in grade school again. (This is still possible without offending any parents with young children.) Supposedly, from my example, little children in hearing vicinity did the same. Who says I'm not a good role model?
